i think those added songs are the reason for the many beta branch updates.

if R* does a good job, then they would need to:

1. Record new DJ lines.

2. edit the text files to add the song names, so it works with zit.

3. edit the songlist.csv

4. add new code to the .exe so zit reconizes the song

these are the things i can think off right now, maybe they need to do more than that.

This would be the way to go if the added new songs without replacing the old ones.

Right now I think that they need to:
1) Replace the old songs with the new ones.
2) Replace the old DJ announcements with the new ones.
3) Replace the old tags in GXTs with the new ones.
That seems to be it. Nobody will care if the name of a song inside the archives is still ZELENOGLAZOE_TAKSI if in the game it plays Big Dick.

Even though this way is typical laziness of R*, i would prefer it if they just replace the songs and don't alter something inside the .exe, then it's much easier to just copy back the original sound files and enjoy the updated game (if R* is going to fix the game)

Why the hell would Rockstar add NEW songs? These guys are cheap as F, They will REMOVE SONGS with dying licenses, not add new ones... you know that adding new songs requires them to pay who ever they decide to use the songs, they don't want that... they want to save as much cash as possible.

I bet they will even remove parts of the DJ mentioning such songs. No big deal, someone will upload the old files with all the songs, we will just have to replace the new file. It's still a Dick move from Rockstar.

R* confirmed that they will remove songs, but also adding new ones

Apparently the loss on GTA IV is going to be huge, we're hearing rumours that possibly up to HALF the soundtrack is going, including entire stations.

f*ck, just imagine your favorite radio stations are just gone after a game update.. No Vladivostok, Radio Broker, LCRR .. Just nope.

I hope i can keep playing the backwards compatible version of IV on my XBOX One without updating the game.

If this happens and GFWL won't make you update the game like it does with patch 4, there's gonna be a HUGE split between the 1.0.8.0 and 1.0.9.0 players. (I'm gonna stay on patch 8, hopefully the MP won't die like patch 7 did)

GTA IV with a new soundtrack sounds stupid to me, how is doing such a thing a good way to celebrate the tenth anniversary of this game? We still have to wait and see but damn. If this update brings a totally different soundtrack it won't be GTA IV anymore.

It sucks if it happens because we have no control over it, if its an update it will install and you cant play the game properly with out it, not like ViceCity when it was released for mobile etc and they dropped half the songs at least if you have the original game on PC and  PS2 or XBOX it still plays the way it was meant to.

I hate cheap assed updates that will ruin a good game, for all its flaws and it is flawed its still a damn good game and doesnt deserve to messed with like this.

i hope they get rid of the following:

- Ruslana's sh*tty Wild Dances song from Vladivostok FM, maybe even change the radio host;

- Goodbye Horses from LRR;

- Zombie from IF99;

- EFLC version of Electro Choc;

- Funkmaster Flex part of EFLC's The Beat;

- San Juan Sounds;

- Crackhouse from The Beat.

FTFY.

I don't like Vladivostok myself but I don't support any removal of any song.

Even Crackhouse.

R* once added 4 tracks to compensate 4 they removed on Radio Del Mundo in Mobile LCS.

P.S. Ridiculous to see people hoping for removal of smth they don't like cause it's the same people gonna be crying hard when stuff they like gets removed.

You guys don't know what goes behind the scenes.

For all we know the guys who own the rights to the songs want even more money after seeing how successful the game was and how rich Rockstar is making it an extreme waste of money to continue licensing it when they can just replace songs for cheaper licenses. If anything adding new songs would be a ton more work than re-licensing and Rockstar likes to take shortcuts.

Their decision says to me that getting new license and paying devs to fix this mess up is way cheaper than re-licensing. Blame the music industry.

BTW I've been thinking of something. I'm afraid we may be blowing this GFWL thing out of proportion. Are we sure the platform icons weren't updated since GTA IV was released on Xbox One backwards compatibility? I noticed they removed all the network icons (PSN/XBL) as well, and left simple platform icons so Xbox One could fit as well. I'm wondering if the replacement of the GFWL icon with PC wasn't just due to space constraints and to be able to fit Xbox One, and also because they removed the PSN/XBL icons from the websites.

I don't want to be a party pooper, and it would be impressive if they removed GFWL, but after all they did update the "buy now" text with Xbox One and it still contains GFWL. They could've said Steam or any other thing, but it still says it's the "GFWL" version even on the new text.
