I just happen to feel like checking both in SteamDB

https://steamdb.info/app/12220/depots/

https://steamdb.info/app/12210/depots/

Both have a closed beta.

And history shows actually data being modified.

Do you guys think they are removing GFWL? Or there is more to it? Hope for both.

While it's possible, there's no reason to think so (yet). They might be just getting ready to remove licensed music tracks.

Would be surprised to see any real fix after 6 years or so.

Thought should be noted that San Andreas got "original radio update" added as a DLC, too.

This game is excluded from Steam's Family Sharing service.

Was that there before?

Nah, I don't think they are doing this to remove the songs.

And, yeah, I also noted the new branch in the GTA SA SteamDB

Yes, because of GFWL.

I hope they fix the bulletspreadless guns f*ckup! I don't like playing multiplayer deathmatches with that kind of sh*t.

That is if they're actually going to do something good to the game.

If this is indeed a new update, I sincerely hope that it ditches that atrocious GFWL in favor of RSGC/Steam like Max Payne 3 and GTA V. However, I'm not getting my hopes up for major performance improvements; as nice as that would be, it just seems unlikely after several years of nothing.

There seems to be new activity on the SteamDB of both games again, something about Data files and Installers... i have a feeling they are just removing the SecuRom since there are ton of people having issues with GTA4/EFLC running Win10, but i do hope they remove GFWL and migrate to Social Club.

I also hope they merge both games into a single install.

Most likely doing something about SecuROM (or GFWL, that would be cool), after they realised they f*cked the PC port up, they simply stopped updating/caring about it.

Edit: hmmmm, the "beta" branch was added to SteamDB about a month ago. Inb4 Steamworks instead of GFWL.

Edit 2: https://steamdb.info/app/12210/subs/

"VMC BigFoot Dev Comp" They hired a QA company, wtf. They seem to be tailored towards converting games to Steamworks and OSX and Linux ports.

I actually wouldn't mind something like this. It's probably for a different reason from you, but for me, I'd like to officially merge the radio stations of IV and TLAD/TBoGT together without Independence FM. Normally this happens when you purchase the Episodes separately as DLC for IV, but it's currently impossible to do that on PC because the GFWL Marketplace shut down a year or two ago.

I'm probably in the minority for something like that, but it'd still be neat to see.

Real shame the only fix for that crashes my game randomly.

At least I can play Singleplayer the way it was meant to be with gun spread, with a controller or xliveless and the spread fix when playing with a keyboard/mouse.

An abandonment of Ebola For Windoze Live and subsequent migration to Steamworks would be AMAZING. Nice +1 for spotting it.

Pretty sure it's nothing to do with licensed music since the game isn't being re-released or anything like the iOS port of San Andreas was.

It has been updated on the Press Master package...

Any ideas?

Also, they have added the game and a few others GTA's to packages restricted to China...

https://steamdb.info/sub/75749/ Example.

It wouldn't be very surprising that they're converting the game to Steamworks, afterall GFWL is deprecated and RGSC is probably "too much work for them", as they hired VMC (who does Steamworks conversions).

I hope they do something similar to the xliveless plugin, move saves folder to Documents and remove GFWL.

I checked the San Andreas page and it seems that its Press Master package was updated alongside IV/EFLC.

https://steamdb.info/app/12120/subs/

Perhaps they're also preparing to release that Original Radio Update (it might explain why SA has a DLC option on Steam) around the same time that IV and EFLC are updated?

Yeah, there are also patches for GTA 3 and VC! Same old as SA, IV & EFLC one. But why it does take them so long to do anything?

After so many years, they want to actually do something about the problems ? Well, i think that's kind of too late.

I'm surprised however to see (right now, time of posting) 855 people online.

It would be cool to get a proper fix, im using 1.0.4.0 still because of the great performance, mods and xliveless.

Maybe i can finally update to the latest version if they fix some serious problems.

I have never seen this either, the window used to look a lot different and online activation would fail out of habbit.

Always had to do offline activation cause it never worked, and was looking way different.

EDIT: Never mind, this is from EFLC, which i never installed. Nothing new so.

OMG, is this real??

I really hope they are removing GFWL and SecuROM (and adding Social Club for multiplayer, just like with GTA 5) from both IV and EFLC. Please, God !!!

Let's not get too ahead of ourselves. Press Master is a Steam-wide package, if you open it, it says there's over 3k apps. Probaly just some Valve update on that one.

Don't hold your breath. We'll never have a proper optimized port.. I think part of the issue was that it was a port in the first place (correct me if I'm wrong).

:panic: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO  :sui:

Then what's the deal with the beta updates the game received?! (why is a game updated if nothing inside it will be different?) Can someone elucidate me, please?

P.S: I really, really hope they will (eventually) remove the stinky GFWL and SecuROM.

We still got some hope left, I mean; The beta branch seems to be in fact something Rockstar or 'whoever is messing with the game' did...

It's just the Press thing that was Steam. Let's just wait a few more months and see what happens.

Press Master is steam related. The rest isn't, Rockstar hired a company that specialises in QA for games and ports to Steamworks, as per one of my posts above, we'll see.

Another Update 2: Doesn't looks like a global thing, GTA V also got that update.
