I haven't played this in a month or more. Can someone briefly describe the tier thing?

It's an OPTIONAL feature that unlocks after you reached Level 30. You can activate and deactivate it anytime.

You will start at Tier 50. Doing things will gain you Tier Points, which is basically EXP.

It works basically as a difficulty modifier. Upon reaching certain Tier level, the game will ask you to raise the base game difficulty if you want to progress your Tier.

You will get reward (cosmetic and gun) every 5 Tier. You will also get Supply reward everytime you level your Tier up. Completing weekly Season Challenge while Tier One mode is activated also gives you Supplies as reward.

Your Supplies now can be used to upgrade damage on any guns.

Best part: deactivating Tier One Mode will freeze your Tier One progress and gun upgrades you made.

I don't assign Vehicle Destruction skill. Usually LMG does the job, but it takes even more bullet now to destroy them.

With the heavy sniper without supressor it only takes one shot, strange thing it only blows up on one shot if the car is moving.

I find that sniping both front and rear escort cars at long range is very simples and safe, after that a regular gun shooting the tires usually do the trick for the truck

So I had to do that mission where you use the drone to record an 'encounter' at the resort area. Only thing was that I didn't figure out the open window thing for several attempts. So I had that conversation between the politician and the hooker on a loop a bunch of times. YOU SICK PERV, CAN'T GET IT UP WITHOUT A CAT'S LEG HUH? STEALING A CAT'S LEG IS PUNISHABLE BY DEATH! Needless to say I shot the guy and failed the mission, but it felt good.

Tier 42 now and the only thing I notice so far is that vehicle becomes bullet sponge, instead of NPC characters.

Convoy truck shows the most change in Tier One mode. Normally it'd be mushy as hell towards drive-by and mounted minigun. I just had a long run chasing it, ramming it, and I lost it because of Unidad fukkers.

NPC on the other hand now grows more and more insane accuracy and damage like that cheap GTAO difficulty.

With the heavy sniper without supressor it only takes one shot, strange thing it only blows up on one shot if the car is moving.

That rumor about one shot with HTI is the reason why I never want to assign Vehicle Destruction. So I'll go with grenade launcher to deal with the escorts.

And I guess I'll do the classic way by shooting the convoy driver. Sucks though because the driver usually would surrender. I feel bad killing them.

bullet sponge? i can still take down a helicopter with one shot and even enemys get shot with just one bullet if you are undetected. the only thing that is changing is that you are not the bullet sponge anymore, 2-3 and you are down.

but I was never a bullet sponge to begin with.

I'm not talking about Tier 1 versus regular difficulty, I'm talking about Tier 1 mode versus Extreme and I already die in just a couple of hits.

all the descriptions of T1 are the same; enemies get more powerful and tougher and more aware. the only benefit to the player is that your weapon damage scales up higher. but none of this sounds realistic or fun. I don't need super powered enemies who behave like robots. they're just supposed to be other humans. I don't need them to magically become more aware or more aggressive for no good reason.

as it stands the game is challenging enough on Extreme when you take away all of the little HUD elements that assist the player. it already feels like the AI is cheating sometimes. I don't need the ultimate challenge for a challenge's sake. I just want to have fun.

How do you shoot down a helicopter? I just stay away from them, but is there a special trick involved? Or am I just that bad with this game?

Some people use heavy sniper like HTI + VHC Destruction skill to destroy a helicopter (and most vehicle) in one-hit.

Alternatively, using a grenade launcher. Or even an explosive drone. Mortar fire also works if you're lucky. Mounted guns also works.

I use LMG to destroy it because their damage and fire rate just works well against helicopter even without VHC Destruction skill - at least outside Tier One mode.

How the hell you never even destroyed a helicopter? Even one of the Season Challenge previously had this objective.

Thanks for that!

I'm only had this game for a week or so. Generally I'm trying to avoid any big fights like that and run when I see a helicopter. Heck I'm trying to avoid those purple fellas and just stick with the cartel. Idk maybe I need to experiment more but I really don't like save system. I'd rather fail and retry than have the auto save.

...or I just suck at this game.

Ah, OK, thanks for explaining. I must jump back on a take a look.

I'm all ready playing on Extreme so I die super easy. Although I haven't my head completely wrapped around it yet, I'm cautious for reasons El Diablo mentions.

see that sucks, too.

I don't want to only take the stealth approach 100% of the time. that's boring.

I like to mix it up.

sometimes it's a lot of fun when your plan breaks down and sh/t hits the fan and you have to go loud.

I agree. I will turn it off for good (and will find an exploit to get the rewards) once I'm locked to only 'recon & snipe' approach.

I'm still playing this game because it offers unscripted range of event that reflects my approach which encourage me to adapt and change strategies when something happens. So for me if that aspect is killed, then the whole game will fall down with it.

This is also the only game where I can deceive enemy freely. lmao. Sometimes I lead them to somewhere I'm not at only to make them run into another spot I have left. Sometimes I lead a group of enemy into seeing somewhere else, close to each other, while me and my AI teammates are appearing behind them and kill them in execution style. I don't know, this kind of thing may be mistaken as dumb AI or left unnoticed, but this holds a big value to me.

Then I guess you will have more tolerance towards the difficulty than do. It's kinda a shock therapy for me. But you should be fine.

The problem is that because you're most of the time outnumbered. They also have spider sense to know the exact spot where you are when you miss one shot, seeing dead body, or hear a sound. When they're hunting, they will sprint towards your spot, with increased vision range and faster reaction to confirm your position. This will change their status into engaged which then activates their absurd accuracy and that 1-hit kill damage on top of their immunity towards ballistic rule. If they can't shoot you nor access your spot, they will still have better arsenal than you by spawning sky or ground reinforcement close to you or by spamming mortar fire. Taking cover in this game wouldn't make you last long either considering the enemies are always moving, unlike in typical cover-shooter game.

At the end of the day, this stat-bumping difficulty antagonizes what the game was initially offering and turns it into an imbalanced game at the same time.

This is the same reason why I stay in Regular and never adore Expert mode. When enemy can do more and comes in way higher number, then I expect my character to be able to withstand more than a single enemy could do. I prefer balanced challenge so to speak.

Nah you're just a new player, we were all new and we all had the crap beat out of us more times then we'd like to admit but we eventually learned how to use our tools to our advantage.

You'll get there before i unlocked the heavy sniper i used the gernade launcher or LMG to take down the helicopters just keep moving while trying to shoot them down and you'll be a-ok

Quick question:

I'm playing a mission, forget the name but its the one where you kidnap the singer off stage, and the game keeps crashing. It happens in the same general area, driving away after kidnaping the singer and taking him to Bowman. This game has crashed before, but this has happened three times in a row in basically the same spot. Is this a known issue? Any fixes? Thx in advance!

oh PS4 pro and all updated

The game literally only crashed once for me. So I've never read crash reports around.

This kind of 'crashing-when-in-that-one-spot' happened to me in another game though. It was Fallout 4 and it was fixed for no reason days later...

Since you use PS4Pro, if you're using the Boost Mode feature, then try to switch it off.

Or try Rebuild Database from the safe mode maybe? Not sure if it will erase your HDD data.

I love the fact that all of the bases and areas of operation reset even after you complete the campaign and the primary missions associated with those locations. I hate it when an open-world game is basically 'empty' after you've played through it. probably my favorite thing about Wildlands is the endgame and just exploring the map without any specific objectives and all of the weapons, accessories, and skills at your disposal. I've played through the DLC at this point and they're ok, but nothing to write home about. Narco Road was very silly and I could've done without it, but Fallen Ghosts was much more enjoyable.

what I do now is just roam around the base-game map on Extreme difficulty with all of the HUD elements turned off, making my way based on landmarks, changing gear according to the climate and changing loadouts depending on how I want my assault to go. there's a lot more freedom in choice when you don't have to worry about specific goals like not being detected or interrogating some guy. I just sort of hop from base to base, town by town, taking down the remaining Cartel production facilities or Unidad outposts however I see fit. the more I wander around post-campaign and take in all of the details of the map and the world, the more I appreciate the game itself. starting to feel like Wildlands is one of my favorite sandboxes in all of gaming.

Thanks Louisniko turning off beast mode did the trick. It may have also been that I did another mission to overwrite the auto save. The auto save really frustrates me. Think I had the same problem as you in FO3. Opening a previous save always worked for me, which is why I'm not a fan of this auto save method.

I agree.

This game unexpectedly become one-of-a-kind for me. I've never felt something so 'sandbox' before this game. I also don't need to mention how much the respawning enemies value a lot to me. One more thing that I like is the Season Challenge. It doesn't have heavy requirement to complete and will give tidbit rewards, that sometimes even paid stuff. I think I need to buy another copy on Steam.

Narco Road is such a missed opportunity. The concept of being infiltrator is great. Some of the missions also have double agent feel like sabotaging, tailing, eavesdropping. There's also one unique mission that strictly removes your weapons and you have to stealth your way out of Unidad's prison. Very hard, but felt different and great. The only problem is that they put all that hipster, funky feel in the whole DLC, instead of showing even darker side of cartel life would be.

I'm still Tier 36. I'm replaying story missions back from Itacua again.

Speaking of which, there will be new season challenge theme starting from today. I wonder what the objectives and the rewards this time.

That LVOA-C Bad News is the only LVOA-C in this game that, well, look serious and also have scope equipped. Definitely going to use it once I unlock it.

The other LVOA-C is from The Division pack. It's raw and the color scheme looks like a freaking Nerf gun.
