Emblem created by the awesome Fonshway! :)

Welcome to the GTAForums All-Stars - a dedicated social crew for any GTAF members who enjoy creating original GTA Online characters, and sharing their creations here on the forums!

Created in response to the great social 'hub' that's grown around the 'Screenshots Topic: Show Your Character' thread, a handful of us forum members decided to take it one step further, and establish a Social Club crew - both to help make photo meets and events easier to organise, and also to allow thread contributors to find like-minded players to meet and collaborate with in-game.

In other words, if the following apply sound familiar:

- You like to post screenshots, selfies and stories featuring your GTAO character(s) in the various character-based threads, and want to meet up/play with other forum posters who you interact with in those threads,

- You enjoy ambitious projects like machinima, 'cosplay'/recreations, car meets and other photo events, and want players/a crew that focuses on teaming up for those kinds of things,

- You've simply seen some of the interesting creative things people do online with their custom characters and share on the forums, and wanted to get involved with all that,

...then this might just be the crew you've been looking for! :sly:

Crew Info

The main function of the crew is as a 'networking tool', to allow forum members to share contact information on Rockstar Social Club (XBL Gamertag, PSN ID, etc.), group Snapmatic pics under the crew tag for easy access, and use the in-game 'crew session' functions for organising game lobbies for photo events - whether that be a car meet, Heist session, or just some impromptu socialising!

In other words, there's no strict 'rules' for membership - unlike some of the stricter crews (or roleplay-heavy ones), there are no requirements about 'having to wear the emblem at meets', 'mandatory attendance at events', 'spot-checks on who's using the crew tag', 'you can only use these vehicles', 'this is your only crew', etc. Nope - none of that... ;)

R98Elqx.png

The in-game crew emblem (created by Fonshway!) doesn't have to be used if you don't want - it's more for the Social Club page, as well as an option for those members who feeling like repping for the crew in-game! We currently don't allow other emblems for things like car recreations or cosplay, however - the current emblem settings prevent the All-Stars badge from being saved, so members, PLEASE don't try to swap it out, or else you'll most likely delete Fonshway's hard work!!

dC41Xzs.png

The default crew colour of 'dark teal/slate-blue' (hex code: #2B4255) might be familiar - it's the GTAForums background colour! Again, like the emblem, you don't have to use the crew colour for your personal vehicles, or wear a crew-colour shirt - nor do you have to use the crew emblem in conjunction with the colour -  it's simply there as the default custom colour option. However, unlike the emblem, it's easy to swap for another colour and back again, so we do allow the option to request switching to another hex colour, if a member has a custom colour they want to use for whatever purpose.

Membership

The criteria for membership are few, and pretty straightforward:

1. Be a GTAForums member (obviously!)

2. Post frequently* in any of the following 'character pic' threads:

Show us your NG character! [XB1/PS4] [PIC HEAVY] [merged with SYC thread - gone, but not forgotten!]

*...by 'frequently', it doesn't have to be all the time, but enough to be considered an 'active poster'. Basically, ask yourself this - do you reckon your character's been posted enough that other forum members would recognise them in a pic?  If not, get snapping, and get posting! ;)

If you reckon you meet the above, and want in, either PM a crew admin (see the membership roster below) with a request, or alternatively, post your request in this thread and an admin will respond to it.

There's no actual 'hierarchy' in the crew - all members enjoy equal rights, privileges and benefits, because that's only fair! Upon joining, you'll automatically be promoted to 'Lieutenant' rank, so as to have access to the majority of Social Club crew options and functions.

Instead of 'commissioners', there's a core group of crew admins who handle logistics such as accepting new members, approving colour changes and other requests, and so on. They don't outrank members - it's more about the added responsibility of running the crew, and having a dedicated team to keep things working smoothly and in a practical, workable fashion. In short, the rule is this: got something you want help with? Ask an admin!

If you have to leave the crew due to other crew commitments - or likewise would like to be involved, but already have 5 full crew slots - no worries, you can always become a 'crew associate'. Associate status is similar to membership, but without the benefits of the Social Club tools like custom colours, access to crew-only sessions, and the crew feed/Snapmatic tag. For example, if a crew event is held in a 'closed crew' session, you won't be able to enter unless you're a member on Social Club, so that's worth bearing in mind.

Basic Rules

- Run anything by an admin - by PM or posting in this thread - and wait for a reply, if you need assistance with anything. For example, if you want to invite a friend, ask an admin first, and they'll let you know if your request's been approved. Same with changing the crew colour, motto and anything else - don't just go and do it without asking, because that way lies chaos! Get admin approval - and in return, the admins will endeavour to deal with all requests as quickly as possible. :)

- DON'T change the emblem, or try to upload a new one!! Not for the time being, at least - as mentioned before, it's currently not possible to save the All-Stars emblem, so changing it will only delete it, which we don't want to happen!!

- Ideally, use THIS thread (aka the crew's dedicated GTAForums 'hub') to organise crew events and stuff in general - Social Club's good for things like collating Snapmatic images under the crew tag, and quick 150-character messages, but it's not the best social networking site around. The forum's much better, due to a more convenient 'notifications' system, and there's no character limit on posts or PMs. Besides, this is a GTAForums-created crew, designed to help forum members share their activities in forum threads - the Social Club side of things is more to create in-game networking tools, like crew sessions.

- Don't post info about non-crew events on the All-Stars Social Club Page, or in this thread, even if a lot of crew members are involved. This is to avoid crew members thinking that such events are 'All-Stars events', trying to attend, and being excluded. Keep crew 'hubs' limited to crew activities, please!

- Feel free to post any and all images and exploits of you and other crew members in this thread, though! Been at a (non-crew) friend's car meet or heist session with other crew memebrs, and don't want to spam other forum threads with loads of pics? That's what this thread's for (among other things)! ;)

- Probably doesn't need saying (what with y'all being lovely, sociable folks an' all! :) ), but the only thing we're absolutely strict on is the usual 'zero-tolerance of hate speech/bullying' stuff. No racism, sexism, homophobia, xenophobia, transphobia, or any other bullying/victimisation is acceptable - likewise, everyone's got their own political/religious views, but that's often a divisive area, so please 'agree to disagree' if you have to, rather than people getting into fights over who thinks who is right/wrong over what.

- Likewise, this thread is a social hangout where nothing's really 'off-topic' per se - but that being said, try to keep things relatively clean and 'user-friendly' when it comes to tone! ;)  In other words, avoid posting pics/videos/links/discussions that would be considered 'NSFW' - some folk find that sorta thing (understandably) off-putting, and that runs counter to the aim of this place being accessible to all comers.

Remember: this is a social crew, designed for people to enjoy the company of other, like-minded people, so if in doubt regarding how to act, just follow in the teachings of Bill & Ted, and:

Heh - considering there's a friggin' HYDRA there, I think your Schafter fits in just fine...  :pp

"Car meet, huh? Well, my Hydra's built by Mammoth, and Mammoth make cars, so ipso facto..." :beerhat:

Going to get on to X S about doing a similar thing for Xbone - in fact, I reckon there ought to be a full-on 'cross-platform, multi-class car meet face-off', where Xbone does one class*, PS4 does another, and then we all convene here and bitch at each other as to which clique's got the trendier toys. :colgate:

*I say that - not sure how that'd pan out, what with there only being 3 people who play on Xbox One in the entire forum game country...

after the next meet Ace is hosting I wanted to host a MOUNTAIN bike ride up mount chilliad.....

we could all get mountain bikes (with the headlight) and ride to the bottom of the mountain then all as a group ride up

we could meet up here lol

zLDbS.jpg

we could also take pit stops every now and again to stop and take pictures etc

once we reach the top we could some more snaps

we could all dress up in like hiking gear, shorts, boots, helmets, parachute (back packs) etc

and when we reach the top we could either parachute down or ride down on the bikes (which could be more fun)

and we could have one member leave a helicopter at the top of the mountain and another member leave one at the bottom so get

what do you guys think? ill post this in the screenshots topic too

I continue to be well jelly at how sociable/well-organised you PS4-ers are...  :pp

Had a bit more thought about the cross-platform concept, and don't laugh straight away, but considering that 'Furious 7' is coming out soon (again, don't laugh - I've a soft spot for those movies!), how about a 'Fast and Furious'-themed 'meet-off'?

American Muscle vs. JDM - specifically, 'pony' cars versus import tuners*, something like this:

fMuRLZuDpUaMsrbIKuKySw_0_0.jpg

d1_jLzSwrEi2KZASrobZSA_0_0.jpg

Could be just a case of people bring their nicest ride in either category, or if it's not too limiting, have the PS4 side in Japanese customs, while the Xboners (heh!) do the muscle cars - yanno, what with Sony being from Japan, Microsoft from the US, etc., usw. ...

*clarification: pony car being a muscle car with the stereotypical muscle profile - long hood, short deck, wide intake, JDM = any car based on a real-world Japanese import. So while a Ruiner's a muscle car, it's not classic 'pony' per se, whereas the Buffalo variants are (being based on the modern-era Chargers) - likewise, for these purposes, the Warrener and Stratum count as being 'Skylines' and thus qualify as 'JDM'.

Thoughts - good/bad? Too restrictive, maybe? Or just have a general muscle/sports theme (with room for the odd Entity/Adder/Insurgent, because movie continuity, yadda yadda ;) )?

...damn - typical event planning red tape, amirite?  :pp

In all seriousness, that's cool - and only fitting! Good to have some kind of representative there to make the whole thing feel properly 'official'...

On a general 'thread-related' note, I'm ...probably going to take a punt at setting up an actual crew, now (same name for now - if needs be, I'll delete it and start again, but I think 'TUS' works for the intended purpose). The more I look at what other crews are doing, and how they work, and how crew mechanics help things like joining sessions with other members, I really think that a character-orientated, forum-based 'social crew' is an untapped niche, compared to the existing racing crews, combat crews, role-playing crews, MC crews, etc.

Will probably leave things like emblem/colour open for whatever people want/need for whatever purpose (like if someone wants the crew colour set to something specific for a PV, or someone wants a certain logo made as an emblem for some cosplay stuff), but if anyone's a dab hand with emblems, and wants to make a 'Usual Suspects' one, please lemme know! :)

Bad news: 'The Usual Suspects' is taken as a crew name... :(

Better news? Just need to find a new name, and then it's full steam ahead! I've taken the liberty of asking around, and I'm personally toying with a reference from the movie 'The Sting' (fitting, since it features a team of seemingly-ordinary folk who're actually a secret gang of  con artists, who end up trying to scam an evil mob boss out of thousands of dollars, while avoiding the attentions of bent cops, hired killers and even the FBI - sounds appropriate, no? ;) )

We have a name, and crew, folks - introducing the 'GTAF All-Stars'!

...yeah, it's a bit brazen - but hey, at least it gets the forum connection out front-and-centre, and it plays nicely into the loose theme of 'fame', in the context of 'recognisable characters'.

Now just need to finish off the set-up process, get peeps invited, and holler at a mod to change the thread name... :p

General crew-related admin stuff - made some minor tweaks on SC, including the current crew colour. Basically, when it's not being used for specific stuff, I thought it'd be nerdy lame downright odd neat to use the familiar 'dark slate blue' GTAF background (AKA hex code #2B4255), what with this being a GTAF-based crew an' all. ;)

Likewise, for the default crew emblem, I was thinking something that combines the GTAF logo:

gtaforums-logo-icon2.png

...with a star - maybe on the centre of 'Claude', or with the cityscape shrunk down and lower in the circle and with the star above/centre - ? Again, just as a generic everyday one if people want to rep 'team All-Stars' - not as a mandatory thing, and likewise the emblem slot is open for whoever wants to use it for things like cosplay and what-have-you.

Righto - so proper crew 'recruitment' is slowly-but-surely getting started, although it's more just a light bit of 'networking', frankly - this isn't one of those crews where there's spot-checks on attendance or mandatory uniforms or anything else that might put people off! Just tools to get people playing together, and more often - no more, no less. :)

Once we've gotten more people in (and I can fit in the time around work! ;) ), there'll be a thorough revamp of the OP to include FAQ-stuff, the handful of basic member rules (mainly pertaining to what the procedure is for inviting new members, or requesting use of the custom emblem/crew colour functions for personal projects), and how we're going to make a mockery of R*'s hierarchy system to turn it more into a 'forum members/mods' kinda thing. In short: everyone has totally EQUAL rank and rights - there's just a handful of designated folk who have the extra responsibility of okaying member requests, just so things are done in a controlled, transparent manner.

In theory, we could just do that under agreement (and that's sorta the case anyway), but having a visible shorthand for it in the Social Club hierarchy just helps make it clearer, IMO - as well as giving an easy visual guide as to the folk to contact with any requests/issues at a glance. :)

We could always get a PC division up and rolling but I wouldn't expect much activity over there. As far as I know, none of our existing members have any intention of playing GTA Online on PC.

Yeah - from what I can gather, most of the regulars made the jump to PS4 or Xbox One (to a lesser extent! :p ), so there's not a gazillion of us on PC, or PS3/Xbox 360.

That said, I don't see why you can't be our (currently lone) PC rep - I still think it'd be cool to 'fake' a cross-platform photo meet at some point, where we all hold related events across the map at the same time, and then come back here to collate the results. That, and being able to see what everyone else is doing on Social Club becomes a lot easier when we're all in the same crew - you can just filter Snapmatic results by crew, and then swap between platforms to see all of 'em. :)

Send me a PM with your Social Club handle, and I'll add you, along with a crew invite...

Quick update:

1. Sorry for the continued slow pace of getting things like the OP updated - I've had some health things that are a bit of a distraction (nothing serious/long-term, just time-consuming at the moment!), so I'm a bit behind on that. Will get things sorted ASAP.

2. Charmlessrogue has offered to have a look at doing a bespoke emblem for the crew on SC - I've suggested perhaps something that plays around with the GTAF emblem (and adds a star or two!). Awesome news, and if he's got the time to get something together, I'm sure it'll be fantastic - looking forward to seeing what he may come up with... :)

3. It's high time we had a full crew 'event' of some kind - preferably something easy to get together, but fun, memorable and good 'forum fodder' when people post the aftermath over here! With that in mind, and inspired by recent photo posts in 'the thread', I reckon an 'All-Stars Golf Tournament' - play two full 9-hole rounds each (i.e., 18 holes), maybe hang out and take pics/screenshots, and everyone wear something appropriate for a golf session (polo shirts, caps, etc.). Sound like an idea?

(best part is, we can hold as many different versions of the same on all platforms, provided someone records the scorecards - ideally by screencapping them. Then, we can post them all here, and determine the overall winner, regardless of which machine we're on - it's not quite the same as true cross-platform gaming, but it's the next-best thing! ;) )
