Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City -- Vehicles


Here's the list of vehicles used in GTA: Liberty City as they're defined in the default.ide. Switches were made because boats, helicopters, and motorbikes occupy those slots, and because we want to keep the cool cars like the Sabre Turbo over the Sabre.

I'm opening this thread back up to discuss if things should be moved around and which unused vehicles we should include in the "official" release. Of course everyone is free to mod their own game as they see fit.

Hm, I got only two points to say bout this:

 

-Some of the GTA3 cars with different engine noises piss me off. Why does the Yakuza Stinger have the same sound as the

Cheetah? I had to swap it with the Virgo :p. Apart from that, almost no horn sound is accurate. A good way (but not a very stable one) would be to move all the III cars onto MVL with their accurate handling and all that, and then leave the normal VC cars for the players own choice.

 

-I can help in retexturing VC cars to look like III ones. I did it so with the VC Burrito, Oceanic, Admiral... etc. Talking about this, how about using some Manhunt 1 vehicles? Carcer is set close to LC, most likely in the same state and MH happens in 2003, only two years after GTA3. What do you think?

 


I totally forgot also, maybe some III Beta/Alpha cars? Or maybe my homemade Esparanto huh? Or a beat-up Greenwood? LC could use some custom beaters :D

Using MVL on that scale is a terrible idea. Even with just adding a couple of cars, my LC was crashing constantly.

 

We can change the engine or horn sounds as we need to in the asi/dinput files. It would be helpful if there was a list of every sound that is wrong and what the correct sound has to be. That's the hard part of this.

Hm... it is a hard part - but it's doable. I can help a lot with this if it's needed. Anyways what about the other ideas? :)

Is it agreed to move the Phoenix back to its original slot and replace Hotrinb with the Yakuza Stinger (link)?

I see no reason why not. I'm pretty sure the reason that got moved was we stuck the Yakuza Stinger there arbitrarily in the beginning. And when I decided to put the better leftover VC cars back in, I didn't think about moving the Stinger around. 
 
Would you be willing to update the necessary data files and put them on Dropbox?

Are you planning to add new vehicles in the mod?

For example, the Civilan Taxi/Cop car (Premier), or some driveable car wreck (like the one from the Harwood Junkyard) as an achievement car for something.

Or, what about some beta III cars? There are mods and mods for the beta cars, and most of them look good and fitting for GTA LC.

Done with the swap. :) You only have to recompile the SCM with the updated default.ide and it will be finished.

Here's the table of converted vehicle sound values whenever the feature to edit them gets implemented. It was not hard but was really tedious to work on. I hope I got most of them correctly converted. I don't have a way to test this.

EDIT: No markup, comma delimited.
EDIT2: Car alarm uses SFX 57!
EDIT3: General Lee uses the silent Rocket Launcher reload sound (SFX 79)

@HazzardX, I have not decided what to do with the "extra" slots. That's part of why this topic was opened back up. To discuss the options. I suppose the next step in this process would be to make a separate list of all of the unused vehicles to see what we have to work with.

I think you shoud hide all unused VC cars somewhere in the city as a Easter Egg. BTW, MVL works perfectly fine for me if I replace EXE to 1.0. I added all A610 cars.

There is a plugin like that for GTA3 already, maybe the Russians invented this for VC too, who knows?

Hello Craig Kostelecky,

i have to say this is a amazing mod and i enjoy it a lot, but i have a question about the Police Cheetah, the description says that it can be enabled throught the show config Utility,

i didnt find something about that in the install folder, i just found the file: gta-lc.ini with the value: DisableViceChee=1 - but also when i change it to 0 the police cheetah still no appear.

 

maybe i also did something wrong with my install, because the "how to install" says at step 7: 7. Run FinishInstall.bat and you're done!

but i didnt find that bat file in the rar & update archive. thanks for your work !

That's actually backwards in my current copy (it's on no matter what the setting is).

 

We'll make sure it's right in the next release.

A success in recreating GTA III's car alarm! First extract SFX 26 from GTA III's SFX files and replace SFX 52 in Vice City's. The comma-delimited list posted above has been updated to utilize SFX 52 as the car alarm. Then use the following CLEO code for VC v1.0. Only the first two lines are the most important changes. The rest just assigns the alarm SFX to the Banshee.
