So many posts with people asking whoever theyre talking with about which console theyre on.

If there was space for an icon or text under peoples avatar, so they could add which console they currently play on...i think it would help tons.

Sorry if this has been requested before.

You can add your PSN, XBL or Steam on your profile, surely that's enough.

Not the same.

People shouldnt have to click anywhere to see this info.

Anyway, just a suggestion.

Exactly why not? It does the job perfectly fine.

I remember when there where little icons under the signatures with xbox, psn, skype, msn, yahoo and some green flower thing and when you highlighted them it showed the account name. Is that old? I feel old.

Cuz if i have to click on someones name to view their profile, then scroll to find what platform/console theyre on, thats too slow.

If it was below peoples names and avatar you wouldnt have to leave the page you were on. Simple as that.

If they were to ever implement such a change, i would then recommend to set the default to be Nintendo DS or something, then everyone would go and change theirs.

It takes only a few seconds of your time to click their name, scroll down and note their gaming name.

Yous guys mean these?

Yeah, they used to be a thing. The information that you can currently edit in your contacts section of your profile used to be linked to these. I don't know that I would call it a huge loss. This topic is the first time I realized they were gone.

Another thing you can do is implement your gamertags, usernames, etc into your signature.

I prefer the current 'avatar box' layout. It looks cleaner, in my opinion.

I disagree. I prefer them being in our profile. If they showed up near our avatar(s) guests can also see them so that kinda intrudes on our privacy and nobody wants random strangers adding us on PSN/XBL or whatever.

If you really want it when posting, you can put it in your member title. :)

You gotta remember most people on here have a short attention span and/or too lazy to bother going to their profiles

Personally, I prefer practicality over adhering to a specific look. I rarely used the icons but it does seem like a step in the wrong direction taking them away for the people that did use them regularly.

As far as "privacy" goes, everyone you've ever played with on xbox live can add you as well as over half a million members here if you choose to provide that information. Guests don't have much reason to add you, it's not a big deal if they do, and even so the information can be hidden to guests as I believe it was before the forum update.

Pretty simple idea, just add a console logo under names to save time as some people seem to only post xbox or ps

sure its come up before just a thought to add to this great site!

I agree with the OP. This is a forum for a game on multiple platforms. When someone asks a question about  problem or a glicth it's often platform specific. I know it's just 2 clicks to visit their profile and go back but I'm not doing that and most people probably aren't either. It's the internet, we're lazy.

My suggestion is use the space that says "members" on 99% of all users info box. "Members" doesn't mean anything to us. We have the platform listed under our username on the crew website I'm in and we are only PS3 and PS4. Just pull that info from the users profile.

I posted this in the bitch & moan topic and was directed to post it here. If nothing changes at least I've said my opinion.

Taken from Wildbrick's post, although removing the group text wouldn't be the best of ideas, having an icon under the username wouldn't hurt.

I can imagine why the people who don't post in the Online section see this as not entirely necessary, but for the folks in the Online section it's something I've seen asked for a fair amount and would benefit them a lot as it's often useful to know someone's platform.

Most of these kind of features only got removed because IPB remove them, and for us to put them back in it would require too much coding and we only try to avoid doing that because updates take even longer the next time around (see v2.. IPB4.. :p). I don't know if it'd be easy to do now but it doesn't hurt to ask. Since we're upgrading at some point in the future, it might not happen on this version however.

You also have to consider the "cons" of these things: the type of members who will only respond negatively to someones posts because they have X console under their name, not everyone is like that but the GTA Online section is rife with trolls so is displaying it even worth it? and a messier posting/avatar area that is already full of quite a bit of information.

Is there anyway to make it show up in the box when you hover over someones username?

Either way, clicking on a profile to see info like that isn't that big of a deal but I still see OPs point.

If you wanted to find out somebody's gaming ID/blood group/social security number/AIM name I see no reason why clicking their name would be an extra step too far. If you were interested in adding them in the first place, their profile would be the first place I'd end up going. If they have no details, I'd hit back and go on with their day or hassle them over PM because I have a Minecraft build they absolutely must see.

But no, I don't think having them displayed under a profile as viewed from the board would be necessary. Even if they were implemented as some kind of fade in and fade out system, I imagine it would add strain and cause clutter. Maybe this is because I'm miserable but if I wanted your PSN ID, I'd ask for it.

I unno, necessity isn't entirely important - for a lot of people showing platform would be better than the member group, join date or awards, which may as well be left to viewing a person's profile to find out. It'd just be a nice feature to have y'know

You also have to consider the "cons" of these things: the type of members who will only respond negatively to someones posts because they have X console under their name, not everyone is like that but the GTA Online section is rife with trolls so is displaying it even worth it? and a messier posting/avatar area that is already full of quite a bit of information.

I feel like the ones doing that would be the ones who are already posting something stupid - it'd be hard to make the section worse than it is :p
