Hi! I was using SkyGfx 2.9 for San Andreas and I noticed 3.0 was released. However, when I installed the newer version it looked worse IMO: Like the saturation was up and everything was slightly darker. Is that how its supposed to look like and is 3.0 version closer to the PS2 version than the 2.9? Because if it's not closer to the original look on PS2, I will stick to the 2.9.

Also I am using respective versions for III and VC too and only difference I noticed is when I press F6 button, car reflections happens to be like an ENB mod in GTA III, in Vice City, cars just get slightly darker tint and uglier. Is that how it's supposed to happen and is that the only feature?

don't compare SkyGFX reflections with the ENB ones ;) SkyGFX are the correct ones since TheHero replicated the reflections from the xbox version.

Yeah okay whatever, i watched some youtube videos of Xbox version and it felt like it's much more shiny than the Xbox version, almost like ENB. That's why I said that. can you also answer my other questions?

You haven't installed the Xbox vehicles have you?

Edit: Also, post a comparison between the two, 3.0 changed how some options are toggled so you might need to go back and change some stuff in the ini to get the same effect.

Yeah, i cannot install Xbox vehicles, they got blank white textures bug and I believe they were also incompatible with a few other mods that I installed, i don't remember sorry, this was quite some time ago.
 
EDIT: I got the pictures but here's the thing; It seems like version 2.9 was NOT desaturating the game but my monitor, because after I print-screened my screen they looked identical. When I quit desktop WHILE GTA SA was running in background in minimized window mode, my desktop looked desaturated too. Whoosh. Looks like a major bug I guess. Probably it overrides my brightness and gamma settings in Intel Control Panel. Here is the pictures anyways: http://imgur.com/a/aotw8

EDIT 3: In The Hero's XBOX vehicles for GTA III mod, I looked my previous replies in there and I noticed they told me these texture bugs is caused by SkyGfx mod. Whoops. I wonder how did y'all installed those cars WITH SkyGfx?

Found a little problem: In the mission "End of the line" the Sweet's Greenwood car got darker after the cutscene in front of BS's Crack Palace.
Or this is due to scm bug?

@AjdarFan the xbox reflections in gta3 are shiny enough. the other option in SkyGfx (the ps2 ones) are the darker ones and technically they arent reflections a all. Jus like you were told - you need the models and textures of the xbox cars in order to achieve the xbox look together with the xbox reflections.
The reflections implemented in ENB work by taking screenshots and use them as a reflection texture. But the xbox ones use a camera pointed upwards from the vehicle perspective (at least that's how TheHero explained it) and that's why I said that they are correct.

If a top camera is used then they're technically incorrect. Real life reflections change according to the viewer's position. I think only ray tracing does it 100% correctly.

true. it seems that I said it wrong. "They are more correct than enb" is better to say :)

But the people on Xbox Cars mod said the mod was incompatible with SkyGfx and causing missing textures bug which I experienced from first hand. Is that fixed now or are you just don't get same errors as mine?

the xbox cars were provided b the same guy who developed SkyGfx so there's no need to worry. I use it and I have no problems.

Slightly off topic but can someone recommend me a tool for editing .img files? Or tell me i was using imgtool in a wrong way? I was trying to install Skin and Bones mod for GTA III and I need to replace all the peds in gta3.img file. There are more than 200 ped files and in order to replace them, I need to search their names one by one and delete them one by one, then install whatever peds I use. It's painful and I will also try to install XBox cars mod also that way (hoping it will not cause white textures bug this way) but there are more than 250 cars and that means I have to delete 500 files (each file name has two files, dff and txd) one by one. Can someone explain it to me? Is this the only way?

IMGTool is obsolete. Use IMG Factory. It's much better and offers more. You can use it to replace many files at once.

The best option is ModLoader though. You don't even have to replace anything in original files.

i dont think so... modloader sometimes doesnt work with some mods and i would say that its only for newbies. Professional modders install mods in game files

What the frick? Modloader for newbies? I respect your opinion but lololol.

 

Then, that's the secret... That's why Silent is a very skilled modder, because he doesn't use modloader! :O

I just uninstalled modloader from my San Andreas folder and this is happening...

Just installed last version and cant find HQ Shadows option.
im talking about "disableHQShadows" option which was in old version, These shadows cool

They've been split up.

pedShadows=0 ; Enable dynamic ped shadows
stencilShadows=0 ; Enable stencil shadows (vehicles and poles)

I'm curious why is this happening? Sometimes in VC cars become very green-ish, when sunny and somewhere around 10:30 and 11:30. Then colors go back to normal

I use PS2 pipeline. Even extracted ps2 timecyc but it didn't gave any effect. Haven't noticed such bug on PS2.

No, it isn't.

You could test it yourself. Weather must be 'Extrasunny' and time period between ~10:30-11:30.

Some clouds exist on the sky, Extrasunny doesn't have any cloud.

You could test it yourself. Weather must be 'Extrasunny' and time period between ~10:30-11:30.

I tested it yesterday, and nope, I don't have such bug. Maybe some problem with your GPU drivers? Looks weird indeed.

Are you sure it's an issue coming from SkyGfx? I can't reproduce your issue. Does this also happen when you try the PC timecyc.dat or without SkyGfx?

I tried to reproduce the same thing on two different systems and GPUs (Intel and AMD) and such thing isn't present, your issue is very weird.
