Can these people share any beta screenshots without permission from R*? 

Of course. It's not like they're gonna care. Their heads are so far up their own asses they don't care about anything unless it's cash cards or riceburners.

I think they might have used the fist icon for the beta hud. The only thing in the textures that looks like it was from the alpha is the road textures.

I've been looking into beta main characters quite a lot recently and besides the already found stuff that is lesser known (for example, Toni's alpha name - Tony Facile) I've been able to find some other interesting stuff.

Note: I've been mostly looking into lesser known details about beta main characters and not the stuff everyone knows about.

You never see it all...

Just like we've discovered the unreleased vehicle renders recently.

Although these development pictures have been out for a while nobody has really looked into them closely.

This information will be useful if someone remembers my video. Basically,this is an update for "Camera Pickup" section.

 

 

A good friend of mine made "main.scm" file, where he placed all these camera pickups so I could film them. As you remember, you can pick them only by car but nothing happens. I didn't point in a video, he made these pickups to use an unused pickup function, which he found long time ago. He was 100% sure that this function belonged to the camera pickup and I didn't argue, since he had pretty good GTA 3 knowledge.

 

After one year I decided to put this modded scm file in PS2 version just for fun... I was pretty amused. This function works perfectly on PS2 only.

I reckon the code must be included in the unique stunt code. What purpose could it serve on its own though? I'm guessing to make the original trailers and pre release screenshots.

That's highly possible, and it'd make sense. Simply hit "record" and drive through the marker. Edit out the first few seconds of the clip and BAM! you've got a cool trailer clip.

That's a very reasonable explanation for the existence of that Camera Pick Up. :)

It's probably exaggerated. Or at least that's what we think.

There are some characters from the 2D era but they play a really small role (the likes of El Burro).
In my personal opinion I'd say that they meant to have more characters returning but not over 60. I'd be impressed if the number was just slightly above 10. :p

I'm willing to bet that this was a developer tool left in. Although, it does seem odd that they would create an icon specifically for it, so maybe they had plans to expand on it for player use.

 

As someone already mentioned, it would make creating screenshots and trailers much easier. All you'd need to do is disable the HUD, walk / drive into the icon and capture.

Amazing find Vadim! Why R* cut that feature?! damn it! :(
I would liked the original release of GTA III in PS2 was be in December instead of October so they would have more time for add all cool sh*t was they planned. Again, damn it!

Because it is a pickup with a stunt jump camera function. In stunt jumps, the pickup is just hidden.

Because it is a pickup with a stunt jump camera function. In stunt jumps, the pickup is just hidden.

 

But this camera function doesn't work on PC only on PS2. A friend of mine checked it on Android version. Doesn't work there as well.

Camera pickup in the leaked sources has PICKUP_ON_STREET function. I found a list, where it states to be type 2 pickup, the same one, which I used to test it in-game. If someone interested.

Please, could you film the rest of locations? Maybe these pickup were places in cool looking places? Say what you say but this place you've filmed with the sunshine and green area looks beautiful with that "camera mode"

 

Nothing special about these places. BTW, I showed all these camera locations in my video.

Anyone want to speculate this? The map.zon file controls the loading areas of the islands:

But there are three zones that were commented out and ignored by the game:
