I know his heart was in the right place, but honestly, that guy isn't exactly much better himself... Filming (using his phone) while driving at night in fog is pretty f*cking ridiculous in its own right.

I came across this video.

The guy recording is following the white SEAT Leon beacause he suspects the driver is drunk. When he crashes, you can see the driver almost about to cry, telling the guy recording "Please don't call the cops" and when the cameraman tells him, he is going to do so, he attempts to start his car and try to leave Hit & Run style.

He got arrested of course

Universal expression for Oh F*ck!....Whoa! means the same everywhere is seems. I don't know whether it is sad or laughable. Laughable that no one was killed or seriously hurt by the idiot in the seat or sad that they would get themselves into that state in the first place. I hope he's learned something and straightened himself out.

People who try to block you in or move into every lane you're moving in deserve a special place in hell. And I'm waiting for the day some dick rides out ass, we have to break and he hits us. He/she's gonna have a very sh*t day.

Why do they do that?

Just about every woman driver in this sorry-ass city gets on my nerves. In an Intersection they pass in flying without looking left or right, they go as slow as a f*cking snail, usually in "large passageways" (eg. Highways) they drive in two lanes instead of just one (they drive ABOVE the lines instead of between them), and if you so dare beep on them so that they can hurry the f*ck up they cry.

No wonder Saudi Arabia doesn't allow women to drive. yes, I know, not all women drivers are absolutely sh*t, but still. I almost envy them.

Please check this link first

Drive along this road today with two cars ahead. The one in front was crawling about 15 or 20 or so and the car behind looking passed. Now the road in the pic is as you see it (ignoring the fisheye). The questing is what would you do?

Do you Overtake over to the other lane and back, do you use the width of the lane you're in or do you hang back and be patient as there are numerous junctions along the road not to mention one a few hundred yards away at the end of the road?

P.S the impatient driver was also a disabled driver. Doesn't make any difference, but given that their car had signs and stickers for the consideration of other drivers would you not think they would extend a similar courtasy.

It's hard to tell from just a picture but I'd probably overtake there, the sight lines are long, you can see anything coming up to the junctions, and if they're really doing 20 I'll be past and back in front in about 2-3 seconds from swinging out.

I'd probably keep to the width of my own lane if possible.

Fair point, but I'd disagree. I will admit it is a tricky one, but given that it isn't a dual carraigeway and that the car in front has every right to use the width of the lane and given the speed limit being 30mph  I would see overtaking as being impatient. If the slower car hadn't paid attention and moved to the white line and hit the other car (always a possibility) what would the legality be?

In any case I do see your point but personally I'd find such a maneuver very chancey in a built up area.

I suppose it is all in how you percieve what is happening. Also the image is a google street view image. You can move it about if you wish.

Ah, didn't realise it was a 30. In that case I'd probably wait until an open stretch further down the road.

However:

If the slower car hadn't paid attention and moved to the white line and hit the other car (always a possibility) what would the legality be?

This could be said about pretty much any road, regardless of speed limit or markings. My view is that if you're concerned a vehicle is going to stray into the space your intending to occupy, don't overtake. But assuming any vehicle is going to do do just means you never end up overtaking anything.

As a general rule, if I think I can pass someone driving under the speed limit in a manner I do not believe will risk any other road users, I'll almost always do it. I'd rather be ahead of the kind of moron who drives half the speed limit (because they're almost universally terrible drivers in other ways too) than stuck behind them in the sphere of their sh*ttiness.

There's a junction in my town that's an Y, and in one of the corners there's a police station. The guy in front of me on a Ford EcoSport ran the red light and was t-boned by a Corolla pretty badly. The Corolla driver got out of his car, broke one of the EcoSport's window, grabbed his bumper, placed it on the back seat and ran. 5 seconds later, 2 cops on bikes went after him.

I'd like to think those cops initially just watched it all unfold with a "Are you seeing this?" look on their face before pursuing.

Kind of similar to the look on my face right now. Corolla driver smashes escorts window, rips the corolla's bumper off and put's it into who's back seat?

Looks like a Kamikaze driver decided to steal a car, and drive on the opposite side of the Highway until he crashed. We was arrested and nobody was injured.

I could be crazy, but does the presence of cops bring out the worst in people. I pulled out of a filling station immediately after a cop in a marked car. I followed him up the road with no incident until I turned onto another main road to go home. The cop had turned up the same road (to head to a chippie as it turned out). The police car pulled in just as a car parked two spaces ahead pulls out, straight across two lanes of traffic, narrowly missing an oncoming car only to head the wrong way up a one way street. I'm guessing the cops hadn't noticed as there was no fuss and I would technically have been obstructing their view at the time, but either way It seems cops draw out the crazies.

Painful. Poor passenger getting knocked out as well. It looks as if the driver may have dozed or gotten bored.

Ok! Who was paying attention!?...f*ck he was lucky.  Was there any more of the vid :)

In any case we should start a 'Go Fund Me' for the poor bastards in the minivan.

The rest of the video is just the minivan backing up.  The police officer slowed down and looked back, but just kept going on his way.  She got super lucky.

Not sure in other parts of the world, but here we have a "code", sort of road manners, if a driver in the opposite way flashes its high beams twice very quickly, this means there's police or some sort of checkpoint ahead. It was a road with some turns but there was lots of chances of overtaking. The guy in front of me was behind other two cars for about 30km not doing anything or trying to overkake them. There's a part of the road that's a straight line, but you can't overtake there because of a blind hill. A few corners before, I saw other drivers flashing their lights, so at least I knew there was cops ahead. All of a sudden, the dude goes into oncoming lanes and floors it, I was going at the speed limit and he was ripping it at oncoming lanes. As he went over the hill, 2 cops sitting there with radars and cameras. If they got him by both speeding and oncoming, his tickets would be over R$3.000 (about $900), if he didn't lose his license.

I'd like to think those cops initially just watched it all unfold with a "Are you seeing this?" look on their face before pursuing.

My bad I'm kinda late, the Corolla driver grabbed his (the Corolla's) bumper and put into his (the Corolla's) back seat.

The douchebag in an Acura MDX that rear ended me a month ago. She had been tailgating me for a good mile but backed off and when I slowed down to make a turn, I had to stop because of traffic. This lady slams into me doing 50 (10 mph over the speed limit) and totals my car. Pushed me a whole 210 feet from where I was stopped and waiting to turn. Her excuse? Her nephew distracted her. I call bullsh*t because the whole time she was tailgating me, I could see her cellphone in her hand.

I seriously hope they took her license away. To continuously tailgate someone only to rear end them because you couldn't pay attention is some pretty sh*tty driving but having a kid in the car too? Every time I looked over at her she was glaring at me like it was my fault, like how dare I have the audacity to slow down and stop to make a turn in her general vicinity or something. She denied treatment and left in a car before we went to the hospital. She didn't even ask if we were okay after she hit us, just glared at me, waited for her ride and then left. From what the officer that we talked to when we got the police report said she got cited for reckless endangerment. He said the chief who handled the paperwork personally couldn't believe that we walked away with minor injuries. I seriously hope they got her ass for child endangerment. I hope her sister or brother (whoever's kid it was) doesn't let that kid anywhere near her or even let him get in car at all with her.

My  town is one of those rare towns in here that is full of roundabouts. Streets here in Brazil are sort of a mix between American grid-style and old narrow European roads, and you rarely see a roundabout anywhere else. People here are pretty used to it, but an avenue with 10 in a row tends to confuse people from out of town. I've lost count on how many close calls I've had because I was in the roundabout and people simply ran the 'yeld' sign, and I think at least 90% of them were from out of town.

Very quick question to the world. Are roundabouts heaven sent or from hell by way of traffic control?

Depends. If they're well-built and people know how to use them, it's wonderful. If not, good luck explaining to some angry person that you had the right of way to cross the avenue and they were at fault for the T-bone.

Double post #YOLO

So, I almost got ran over twice by the same guy on an ute: First I was crossing the street on a sidewalk, he made a turn and slammed in his brakes, came a few centimeters of me. I ignored it, nothing happened, we all do mistakes. Half a block and less than a minute later he pulls into a parking lot, I'm walking behind his ute on a sidewalk and he just sticks it in reverse and accelerates. I jumped onto the street and kicked his ute's bed (it did no damage, but he slammed on his brakes) and walked away yelling at him to use his mirrors (and a few swear words).

None that I saw, I walked away after that. Maybe he was trying to kill me or something, idk, I didn't stick around. At least I think I got my point across.

half of the other side of the road is blocked because of people working on it, yet half of all people going in that direction just do not f*cking bother to stop, just because there is no board actually telling them to give the people coming from the other direction priority, even though this is just a mandatory thing to know

Some stupid idiotic bitch in a BMW almost hit me like that...really, if it was not for the fact intentionally ramming assholes is forbidden and me not having much interest in filling in all the papers for that sh*t i honestly would have refused to brake and just see what would happen.

To add to that, yet an other bitch was right behind that one and kinda wanted to pass to.

Must say it was quite admirable seeing that last one squeezing trough such a tiny gap that she actually kinda drove over the concrete weight of the temporary fencing of that place and probably scratched her cars wheels a bit(i hope) and if not that, at least really did something that can't have been healthy to do with a coupe, so yea, guess she earned a pass  :santa:

I really should go more Gandalf on such kind of idiots though, in the end the car i am driving is damaged already anyhow.
