Let's be honest here folks. Melee fighting in GTA Online is...lame. It is in desperate need of a makeover. While they're at it they should add cage fighting.

What could possibly be more satisfying in this game than stealing a bat from some mic screamer and beat him to death with it? And get paid for it!

That could be an interesting VS mode. Just give the players increased, non-regenerating health in it (or reduce melee damage, same effect)

If they improved the combat/melee mechanics - then sure.

Whats that thing that the baldheaded rattlesnake used to say....."OH HELLLLLL YEA"!!! This would be the opportunity for us to channel our inner UFC or MMA in general. But they do need to fix that joke of a combat system that we have. And this be the easiest way to get the melee award that most have forgotten about.

Cage fighting sounds awesome. Can you imagine it, Nicolas Cage fighting actual cages? That would be the best activity in GTA: O!

It could work. Even though I'm garbage at melee in this game.

Good idea, but No. Why:

Combat animations are slow (say a good 1 - 2 s at time to complete the action), so combine this with possibly a few 100 ms latency differences between players in a Session and we get the laggy mess that is Melee only deathmatches.

No. It'll just be the same as those fist fight deathmatches but in a cage, who ever can spam O/X faster wins. .

I think that it would be a nice distraction online - and you could end those 'lets fight like a man' conversations in FR with something like this.

would be cool but the fighting physics in GTA5 suck. maybe if they brought back the fighting styles from GTASA there would be reasons for one on one or cage matches

Considering how laggy and broken the combat is in this game, no. Besides, You could also just play Prison Thugz Fight. Its the same thing really.

The question is... Would this addition sell shark cards?

We must also think about laggy players, since they would've the laggy teleport advantage, they would always wins all the fights against people with decent connection :\

Yeah. It would be better to have that. All we have now is shin kicks. R* could also do what Saints Row 2 did with its cage fighting. Add a bunch of dirrerent fighting styles and have six men fighting to the death in a cage. Throw in some weapons every now and again. It would be fun.

but i guess as a mini game the fighting mechanics would be different anyway

like darts, golf, tennis etc

those mechanics can't be used in free mode

All I care about is Melee being fixed. It's annoying how laggy and glitchy it is.

Pretty please don't spell it "fort". A fort is something you build in a tree.

Yeah if fighting styles were introduced.

I do miss this from SA.

it would be nice and i like it, only too bad most people would still battle things out in free roam like they always do.

I hope so, add cage fighting with the system they had in san andreas where you could learn different styles and I would die of happiness
