Big thanks to Jobbo from pistonheads .

Jobbo quote :

I think I've sussed out the time/payout basis biggrin.gif

Found two tables on GTA forums, one with the game code (thanks to Funmw2, creator of FOS v3) and one with a chap's timed plays of Potshot:

Contact_Mission_Cash_Time_Period_1_PERCENTAGE = 0.1f;
Contact_Mission_Cash_Time_Period_2_PERCENTAGE = 0.25f;
Contact_Mission_Cash_Time_Period_3_PERCENTAGE = 0.5f;
Contact_Mission_Cash_Time_Period_4_PERCENTAGE = 0.75f;
Contact_Mission_Cash_Time_Period_5_PERCENTAGE = 1f;
Contact_Mission_Cash_Time_Period_6_PERCENTAGE = 1.2f;
Contact_Mission_Cash_Time_Period_7_PERCENTAGE = 1.4f;
Contact_Mission_Cash_Time_Period_8_PERCENTAGE = 1.6f;
Contact_Mission_Cash_Time_Period_9_PERCENTAGE = 1.8f;
Contact_Mission_Cash_Time_Period_10_PERCENTAGE = 2f;
CONTACT_MISSION_CASH_PLAYER_MULTIPLIER_1 = 1f;
CONTACT_MISSION_CASH_PLAYER_MULTIPLIER_2 = 1.1f;
CONTACT_MISSION_CASH_PLAYER_MULTIPLIER_3 = 1.2f;
CONTACT_MISSION_CASH_PLAYER_MULTIPLIER_4 = 1.3f;

AAAA.png

A quick analysis gives the following (I've ignored RP since I don't really notice it in game anyway):
1. f is the base payment for a mission; you can get up to double that if you do it slowly (and up to 1.3x that if you have 4 players; I'm not sure if 5 or 6 increases the multiplier further). If you do it very quickly you get 10% of the base payment; I suspect that's a backstop to account for unexpected glitches.
2. We need to know the time periods then. Guessing from the game code the time periods are generic, not per mission, but bear in mind these might only apply to Potshot:
Over 15 minutes seems to be maximum (time period 10); that means 19500 is 2f. f is therefore 9750 so time period 5 is from 4 to 6 minutes.
3. We can check the workings because the money increments aren't simply a multiple of the previous payout; and that confirms it.

From this data we can't work out what TP1 might be; TP2 ends before 2.5 minutes and the following are pretty certain:
TP3 (for half money): ~2min to 3min
TP4 (75% cash): 3min to 4min
TP5: 4min to 6min
TP6: 6min to 8min
TP7: 8min to 10min
TP8: 10min to 12min
TP9: 12min to 15min
TP10: over 15min

Worth waiting for the 4min point to roll over at least, then. Now, we need to find out what the base payout (f) is for each mission...

You get double the mission base payment when you finish it in 15+ mins .

You can get the mission base payment by finishing it between 4 to 6 mins .

Potshot = 9750

9750 * 2 = 19500

Thanks to R* for setting :

Contact_Mission_Cash_Time_Period_5_PERCENTAGE = 1f;

- - - -

Check my pastebin post :

Contact_Mission_Time_Period_1 = 1; // 0-1 mins
Contact_Mission_Time_Period_2 = 2; // 1-2 mins
Contact_Mission_Time_Period_3 = 3; // 2-3 mins
Contact_Mission_Time_Period_4 = 4; // 3-4 mins
Contact_Mission_Time_Period_5 = 6; // 4-6 mins
Contact_Mission_Time_Period_6 = 8; // 6-8 mins
Contact_Mission_Time_Period_7 = 10; // 8-10 mins
Contact_Mission_Time_Period_8 = 12; // 10-12 mins
Contact_Mission_Time_Period_9 = 15; // 12-15 mins and same with 15+

Good compilation funmw2...Have just done up a spreadsheet using this information and for Potshot at least:

Edit

Maximum Earning Potential is 97,500 GTA$/hr for completing just over 4 mins and being in time period T5. This includes a 2 minute loading time between Missions.

What I'm getting from this is that it's not worth it to wait out a mission if you want to get cash quickly in multiple run-throughs, as you could easily get 3x the base payout in the same amount of time if you time it right.

Good thread.

my big problem is loading screens, which are always constant and times where you're doing nothing. They've gotten more obnoxious recently.

Ok so now can we find the base payment for every mission? And find out which mission has the best base payment.

tl;dr version: Its not worth completing a mission in less than 4 minutes and even then its only marginally better than waiting it out for 15 minutes (factoring in the loading screens and cost of ammo).

I will stick to doing RR at 15 minutes each session; approx 4 per hour. 4 minutes to do the mission and 11 minutes AFK to do other things.

90,000 for 16 minutes of gameplay. Thanks Rockstar!! :lol:

Much more complicated than this.

You need to know the base payment for each Mission, have an indication of what is the average time to complete THAT MISSION and even then, as the payout intervals are DISCRETE and not continuous, at times you could make more money by waiting an extra few seconds and completing just inside the next time interval than not.

An an example in Potshot, completing the Mission just inside all intervals from T3 (so just over 2 mins) to T9 (just over 12 mins) will make you more money than completing the Mission at the end of ANY individual interval between T3 and T9...

Also as LordBattleBeard pointed out, you can make less overall per hour but hardly need to play the game by going AFK...

Really just play a variety of Missions.

I gathered about 30-40 more missions' worth of data over the weekend - however, I stopped because the value of 'f' doesn't vary much (between about $8,400 and $11,400, though mostly clustered between 9k-10k) and time/number of players makes the most difference to payouts.

Credit to JimmyFantastic for the Potshot table and to Hercules1975 for his assistance (both with missions and recording timings) and similar conclusions :)

Blow up 2 ( Simeon ) is a fairly quick 9600 if you can loose the cops fast.

Blow Up III is very similar, except No Cops, and you can skip the chase vehicles and go straight to Simeon's place.

Kill the guys. Move the cars close together. Plant 1 Sticky bomb. Go to Simeon's lot and park in the correct parking space.

Detonate Sticky bomb. No cops, no muss, no fuss. It's just a matter of how much money you want to make according to the timer.

About $10,000(5 min) ~ 20,000(max time)

Blow Up I pays about the same, and you start closer to Simeon's, so there's also that. No men to kill though, :(

Potshot is the easiest solo mission.

3 minutes to kills 3 guys and drive a mile.

Wait 12 minutes and bank $19,500

 mixed up with coke is also a very easy mission. 3 minutes and you get 7K or wait and get the full amount.

Why would you post this nonsense when the payouts/time is clearly in the OP? If you run Potshot in 4 minutes 3x = 12 min, you'd get $29,250. And you're not sitting around like an idiot, you're playing the game.

Anyway, Potshot is fun to kill all the guys if you want to waste time, 37 or 38 kills and the AI does ridiculous things like driving into the gully and piling up. Yesterday one guy stole my car (stolen) and drove away like a bat out of hell.

You're getting minimum value from the game sitting around for 12 min.

First of all you are forgetting the loading screen time. Second, I would rather make less money than have to actually keep grinding and reloading the mission.
