NFS 3: Hot Pursuit defined, for me, what NFS should be. Supercars, long tracks with plenty of short-cuts and a dope soundtrack to go along with it.

Need For Speed Carbon. Really underrated imo. MW looks like it was directed towards eight year olds. I will be forever loyal to my first NFS...NFS Carbon.

Most Wanted (2005) was amazing. Great balance of all cars, followed closely by the old Hot Pursuit 2.

It truly was a great series, the stories really made the games, then Criterion came along and next thing you know:

"Here's a Porsche, here's the most wanted list, go" and "Hey guess what? You're a cop and a swag demon racer with high tech gadgets, go"

At least undercover had somewhat of a story *holds back laughter*

Personally Carbon wasn't much. Short ass campaign, cars/parts locked behind ridiculous and multiplayer achievements, low tier cars become useless later on, Aston Martin sucks in this game, soundtrack was meh. There are muscle cars though, that's a redeeming factor.

My choice would be either Hot Pursuit 2 or Most Wanted 05 (that Camaro), memories of earlier NFSs on the PS1 are blurry, but they were pretty awesome too.

Need for Speed: High Stakes. It's the one I have the most fond memories of. Phenomenal soundtrack, great tracks, great cars, etc. etc.

Underground 2 comes in at a relatively close second.

This.  NFS: Hot Pursuit III was great too.  Oh and NFS U2 was alright cause of the sound effects.  Dat Mord Fustang.

Finished downloading Underground 2 and started playing today for the first time since 2004. It's just as good as it was back then and I'm enjoying every second of it. I really miss quality Need For Speed games :(

Interesting to see no one cares for NFS Rivals.

I beat it an a few days. Map is somewhat small, police system is broken, and could have more cars. If it had more content it would've been a good game. But EA wanted the game out ASAP.
