The Aphex Twin, who hasn’t released a proper album since 2001′s Drukqs, announced SYRO–his new album–via the deep web (accessible through Onion Routing) on Monday.
The UK-based artist, born Richard D. James, has released a scant amount of work in the past 13 years, which includes his Analord series. There’s also been speculation that he was behind The Tuss releases.
He posted a link to his newest album on his Twitter. The link he tweeted only works with the Tor browser and service.
There also appears to be a tracklist, which can be viewed in the top image.
It’s unclear what label he’ll be releasing the album on–Rephlex, which he partially owns, or Warp records.
A few weeks ago, the Caustic Window LP was sold for tens of thousands of dollars and was put up on YouTube.
Aphex Twin never loses his classic ways, and adapts to technology quite easily. He's basically posted the tracklist and the name of the album on the deep web, which is f*cking genius. Can't wait to see what he's got.
For those of you who don't feel comfortable with Tor, the tracklist is in the article.
