Hey guys,

Guys I'm looking at getting a Gaming Laptop as my current laptop is dying.

I'm looking to run things like DayZ, H1Z1, Rust mostly.
But I'd like to be able to pick up and play a few heavier games too.
Additionally, I'd like to be able to use it to render projects,
ranging from Audio/Video to 3D Graphics and Animation.

I've looked around to the best of my ability and have came across Metabox.
After fishing about their site and others and I find there's to be the best for me, I may be wrong.

Now, I'm about to list all options that the sites' builder offers, so please help me out.
I've highlighted in Bold Italics what I currently have in mind, with them all listed together at the bottom.

I know it may be more than I need, but I don't want to have to upgrade for a long time.

Seems alright to me. Laptops aren't really "good" for gaming, as some people might say. May I ask why you need specifically a laptop? No room for a desktop? Need portability?

I'm aware laptops aren't the best options, but I really don't have the room for a full desktop set up and I much rather/need the portability as this will be doubling/tripling as my study and work laptop as well, on top of that I tend to move around a lot.

Ah, since that's the case, then there's nothing you can really do about that.

Another question, is your budget large enough to upgrade to the GTX 870M? I personally think it would be more worth it.

Check this page out, if any of it really matters to you. http://gpuboss.com/g...eForce-GTX-860M

If you think it's worth it, it's within my planned budget.
I've set a budget of $3,000, but the lesser the better.
Right now it's sitting about $2,500.

Which whilst expensive, I have no problem so long as this will last me a long while.
I mean I've got half a decade out of my current computer, which has been beaten around.
If I can get that, or even longer without the specs falling to becoming inadequate, I'm fine with the price.

I personally do believe it's worth it. In a few hours someone's gonna come in here and blast me for that decision though :p

There's plenty of computer wizards here, they'll probably help you more than me.

Yeah, whilst I don't believe you're trying to mislead me or anything.
I'm going to wait til I get more of a collective view before I make the order.

It's a lot of cash to be spending, and I'm not looking for a nice paperweight.

Thanks for your info so far though. :)

EDIT: Thanks to whoever updated the topic title. :^:

The GTX 870M performs as well as the desktop class AMD R9 270X which is good but if you're willing to spend 3000 dollars or at the 2500 range you're better off looking at the GTX 860M SLI or the 880M. I'd suggest you watch this video as it'll help you make a decision.

https://m.youtube.co...h?v=BhpVXv-j6H8

Also get a 500 GB 7200 RPM drive with atleast a 128 gig SSD, the SSD should have Windows installed on it as it will perform a lot faster (10 second boot times as an example). Also you could put your favorite games on it to greatly reduce load times between menus etc. Some laptops even allow you to set up SSD's in raid0 which allow for much better performance.

For the RAM, you do not need more than 8 gigs so don't waste your money on 16.

Now if you're liking the 860M SLI more check out the Aorus X7, watch some YouTube videos to get a better understanding of it. Make sure it's the new X7 though.

Also if you're liking the 880M more I highly recommend you check out Msi. http://www.msi.com/p...ategory_no=1159

Check out the 880M models on the link I provided.

Also check out the Asus Gm750JZ: https://m.youtube.co...h?v=PdOpwHDEXHg

Oh and for the processor the 4700HQ is a great option. Although it's practically the same as the 4710MQ you selected already so I don't need to say much about that.
