I reckon Australia could be a pretty interesting setting. Maybe have a condensed map with Sydney, Melbourne and maybe Brisbane, then a couple smaller cities like Gold Coast, Cairns and Darwin.

There's a lot of variety in the geography, from deserts in the centre, temperate forests in the south to rainforests in the north.

It's got a unique underworld: Aboriginal, Pacific Islander, Middle Eastern street gangs; rednecks (bogans); huge and extremely powerful biker gangs (bikies); Italian Mafia; Lebanese Mafia; Yakuza; Triads, lots to pick from.

It's culture is unique but familiar, kind of a mix between the US and the UK.

Also, like the US and unlike the UK, it has that kind of underworld mythology with figures like Chopper Read etc.

Mafia II took place in different stages, showing changes over time.  I think GTA should do this.  A GTA that goes over the entire life of a single criminal would be interesting.  It could be any city.   Adding a chapter system a la Bully would be great.

Did it also have Building undergoing Construction, Newer Vehicles as the Game went along, etc?

I'm calling it now and saying GTA 6 will have multiple settings, probably Vice City and some brand new location(s). Or maybe even one massive ginormous map spanning across countless cities. What could Rockstar possibly do to revolutionise the open world genre again? Give gamers an actual breathing open WORLD. Plus by the time GTA 6 releases (most likely around the 2018-2019 period) ginormous open worlds will be the standard for the sandbox genre. Look at what The Witcher 3 did, one single map in that game feels like the entire GTA 5 map.

I agree with this whole-heartedly. I think a procedural, open ended type setitng, with multiple storylines (possibly spanning multiple cities, even). Oh... am I describing an MMO? Yes I am. Heck, I'd play just so I could drive around to entire map.

The city I'd like to see the most, if we're talking about single city setting again, is Chicago.  After that... Washington DC.  They've had a game with New York and Los Angeles... I think Chicago oughta be next (its a huge city with lotsa crime and corruption). I think it'd work.

my 2 cents....

Amsterdam: I was unsure, but having recently gone there I think it would be an excellent setting. I ould definitely see an assassination in a coffee shop or a gun battle in the Red Light Districct. It has such a diverse mix of cultures, the gangs would be fresh and interesting, Dutch trailer park gangs, Moroccans, Indonesians, African street gangs, the only significant Crip presence outside the US, Turkish Mafia, British criminalsl are just a few that could be in there. Almost everyone speaks perfect English too.

I think Amsterdam would not be a good choice. True it is a very cool city, however the title of the game is Grand Theft AUTO . Its about gritty street crime and boosting cars (will the GTA Universe ever expand on car-alarm technology? Inquiring minds wanna know!). Having been to Amsterdam, its not terribly gritty and you can't drive in the entire downtown area. Well, you can - but there's no point (the streets are choked with pedistrians and bicyclists) as you can't move anywhere. It'd be nice to go there in game for a cut scene or a couple of missions, but for a whole game setting I can't see it.

I think the next two GTAs should be set in Vice City and then in Carcer City, in that order precisely, then move on and create brand new locations. I think those two places need to be recreated for the HD era.

OK here is my full on opinion.

I think the next Grand Theft Auto game (assuming the name will be VI) is going to mainly take place in Vice City. The protagonist just came home after being in Carcer City, he hasn't been in VC in 10 years. VC is the main city, but Las Venturas and Liberty City will also be two cities in the game, so its the complete ''west, south and east'' or whatever you wanna call it. They could also go with San Fierro but I think Venturas would be better.

I do also agree that the game should take place in a huge ass map like a real open world sandbox. If R* can actually do this, I predict the size of the game will be like 120 gig maybe. Seeing as V is like 50gb, the next game must be twice as big.

I just had a very cool idea about the next game (GTA6-GTA7). Instead of making a US only area and one city Rockstar should add many countries now dont get me wrong i am not saying entire landmass i am saying a very small area from each country with one town and parks and maybe snowy areas which may be about 1000km2 altogether and then a major area in the USA so that you could book a flight to other countries and plan visas pull off robberies and then flee from the airport and state police to other country fighting your way through the airport and then boarding the planes so in short

1-Multiple USA cities divided in islands which are far apart with water desert forests and long highways in between

2-Other countries with minute areas (May be 20km2 from each) to provide variety

3-Then expand the areas through maybe integrating this world along with gta 7 and DLC

4-Unique vibe to each area

5-Realistic graphics

Do you think it is possible!! Outerra is doing it and is  in pre alpha and already has the scale

Can rockstar scan the usa and add a mind boggling map having realistic distances?

Share you opinions!

Multiple USA cities, but only 1 city from each other country?

What about 1 city in Russia, USA, Mexico/Colombia, Netherlands or Belgium (you all underestimate this), France and Serbia.

They all are unique. Don't see how you can create them as the same.

Realistic isn't really possible as it still is a videogame and not a simulator, but they can make the best out of it. GTA V doesn't have terrible graphics.

I'm not waiting on realistic distances. If I want to travel from the USA to Russia I don't wanna let my console or pc on for a few days.

DLC? Who needs DLC? Why should we ask for DLC? I want proper online servers.

Do I think it's possible? Well, money can buy you anything so why not? Oh wait, it's RockStar where they don't care about u$.

Or just a small map with lost of detailed perspective such as GTASA's map.

I know people will disagree but I think it would be for the best.

Multiply cities from all over the world would be great but I think it wouldn't happen.

If it happens I hope for these cities:

  • Rotterdam
  • Amsterdam
  • Paris
  • Marseille
  • London
  • Chicago
  • Las Vegas
  • Tokyo
  • Istanbul
  • Medellin
  • Juarez/Sinaloa
  • Antwerp
  • Palermo/Sicily
  • Naples
  • Caribbean (some islands)

I personally don't think it's going to be in VC, we've already done the 80s so we'd see nothing new. Plus, modern day Vice is basically a retirement home.

I'd love LC again.
London is cool.
Moscow would be sweet, same with Naples.
Detroit, Chicago, DC, SF again, Philly or even New Orleans would be cool.

Imagine LC, but with Upstate, More of Alderney, a bit of Conneticut. Hell, add Penn State if you want!
It would be one of the most varied, interesting and awesome maps ever.
Period.

Washington D.C., I've been hoping for a GTA game to take place there. You could work for the IAA at some point and do similar things to the Toreno stuff from SA.

I would love a GTA 6 on my country, Brazil, i was just thinking of a perfect storyline set in Rio de Janeiro with the perfect songs for every moment of it.

It's also one of the main cities with criminal reports here.

Hello,im new to the forums,a pleasure to meet you guys,im a long fan of the series too and i have GTA 3,VC,SA on the original Xbox,LC stories and VC stories on PS2 and GTA 4 and 5 on PS3.

So here is my concept on how would be GTA 6.

Like always i pressume we will get both a story and online mode.

For the map,it should be something a bit bigger than GTA5 and closer to San Andreas when it come to vastness,to have more diversity in the environments the way i see it would be to make the upper part of the map a colder region with snow and all, then has we go more toward the south it get warmer with the middle being more like spring, then even further down it would be like more arid and barren with desert and canyons. So in a sense the whole map would feel like (from up to down) Canada,USA,Mexico, also there would be at least 2 cities  or 3 if Rockstar can add 1 more.

As for Story characters,i think we should at least go with 2 characters or back to 1,it was nice having 3 characters but i would like to have more focus on 1 or 2 peoples storywise. One character can be male and the other one female,so like that we have 2 different perspectives and it would make both gender sides of the gamer community comfortable.

As for the rest, lets decide what we should add, what do you think guys.

What the main characters look like and what are their backstories, what do you expect to be in the game.

GTA 6 should naturally be set in Vice City, except less of the desert and other wasted space, and more city. Countryside should just be really dense forests, not plain hills with no trees.

And Liberty City needs to make a cameo.

I thought about it and I think a city based on Compton would be nice, maybe an extra location for Southern portion of San Andreas, set in the 90's in the HD universe when gangs in the west coast was big and stuff, instead of just focusing on South Los Santos (which is tiny in GTA V).

England in near future, when the Britain don't exist anymore, turning into Ireland (with northern part),Scotland,Wales and Cornwall independence. England now has a president, some members of royal family were killed,Queen Elizabeth lost all power. The population of England has fallen very much,so most of the streets are empty, there are almost no people, except London, which has the biggest amount of people in the country, but still low amount. The president wants to build a nice country, but organized crime stands in his way, some of criminal organizations pretty much similar to private armies, people that didn't escape the country are living in fear and are extremely poor. You play as German man of 24 years, who wants to help England to rebuild. He can shoot well because he served in Bundeswehr,he can fight and parkour. Your goal is to fight off the criminal forces and build connections with other countries to revive economy and gain stability. If you will kill civilians, destroy property or damage vehicles the people's resistance will hunt you down. The game is filled with atmosphere of depression and noire until the very end, when England is rising. In the game you have extremely big map and plenty of opportunities, the map consists of England with Southhampton,Portsmouth,Brighton, etc. on south (South is primary ruled by criminals, goverment's influence is insignificant. Most of the North (Manchester,Leeds,Sheffield, etc.) is under occupation of private armies too,the only relatively safe zone is London and it's outskirts. State military is tiny and can't fight mercenaries,it's up to you and Resistance to liberate the map. Territories of Ireland,Wales,Cornwall and Scotland are unavalaible,as they are another states now. Fighting and firearms combat is hardcore, you can die from one bullet,if it hits the right place (heart, head, balls, neck etc.) You have military vehicles, such as tanks and APCs,civilian cars, boats, bikes. Aircraft is absent, because it would be out of place in that game. You blow up enemy communications, control, combat and propaganda objects, you can use parkour and stealth. It would be cool game.
