Think your car is getting a bit boring and not rough enough to deal with your gated community?

Well, fear not!  Now you can purchase old Soviet armours for reasonable prices.

Imagine transporting your mates to a party in a BTR 60.  Or going for groceries through the snow in a MT-LB.

These are not merely far-fetched dreams any more.  Now you too can have a vehicle that truly shows which side you're on!

Is it the 1990's again?

Well, parking problems would be surely over with this.

Forget armor. $700,000 for Mi-24 Hind? That's a ****ing steal! We should pool some money together and buy us a GTAF Hind. I'm usually a fixed-wing kind of guy, but for this, I'd get licensed.

There was a Tornado GR1A on sale a couple of weeks ago. I really, really wanted that.

Nice. Must be a pain to get type-rated for one of these, though. And that's on top of multi-engine, turbine, and complex aircraft ratings.

Yeah it was auctioned alongside a Harrier GR7. That went for much more as it was practically in airworthy condition. Still don't think it was much more than a million though.

I kind of want this.  http://www.sovietarm...ed/maz_537.html

Soviet version of a HEMTT but with a 525 hp 38.9 liter V12 diesel tank engine. Holy sh*t!

This reminds me the case of some British guy in the southern Spain who often used to drive a Spartan tank he owned around the streets, with the consequent troubles with the police. Apparently he tried to register it as a historic vehicle but it was denied.

I always fancied getting an old British Army landrover from one of the auctions/sales they have from time to time. They are dirt cheap and are easy to fix.

Theres always a huge amount of stuff available. Unimogs, armored G500s, caterpillars, tracked and amphibious vehicles ect.

Is it legal for particulars to drive armored military vehicles in the UK?

Yep. You need the right licence and the like for stuff over a certain length or weight and the vehicles to be properly registered but that's about it.

Needs an MOT certificate and whatnot. The correct lights, license plates ect. And like sivispacem says, you need a license class for vehicles because of weight or length ect. But besides that you can drive demilitarized armoured vehicles of just about any kind you want.

Edit:

Fixed wing enthusiasts? Just found this.....

"Carriage clients on weddings, corporate parties, birthdays..."

seems like a legit reason to buy an APC

Well, the luxury one doesn't seem like a bad choice if you reside in Chechnya.
