Tear gas released in the enemies' lines-of-sight prevent those enemies from locking on in that direction.

Forgive me if any of you guys knew this already, or if it's been posted about, because I haven't been able to find anything on here with a quick look-around.

yeah it's good for shootouts and especially if you need to switch cover and gotta run in the open

i use it a lot :)

i wish not locking on would mean losing immediate alert though, so  we could use it to better escape cops as a possible alternative sewers/tunnels

but instead it just alerts cops. they won't be able to see and shoot you, but they'll know where you are and begin to try run to you through the smoke (and sometimes pass out but not always)

That's pretty cool, I didn't know this. I just escaped down a tunnel using this tactic. Throwing smoke like a muthaf*ckin' ninja.

That's really impressive timing, considering how they usually act towards players!

nah, get it to chase you, then jump onto the bonnet of a car, it'll just stand there

This just gave me an actual incentive to use tear gas. I never knew about that.

This will be especially useful against high levels.

Back in the day it was quite handy as well. You could mess with peoples heads by chucking it into their cars. Pretty sure they patched that now. Shame really.

Using grenades, tear gas, and sticky bombs always help during missions where you have to get a certain % Accuracy.   I always use tear gas or grenades to boost my stats like that.

I like to play as michael, when his family are sat at the kitchen table, walk out into the garden, but not far enough for the door to close, throw 1 at the table and watch his family die. Or hide behind the counter at ammo nation when the cops are after you, once the guy who works there dies you can throw smoke grenades towards the door and kill whole teams of swat (noose or whatever) before they can even fire a shot

I've been using it in survivals, it does seem to muck up their lock-ons.
