In Grand Theft Auto IV, there are stuff left from San Andreas

If you find any new leftovers. Be free to submit them here

Rules:
1. Do not repeat the same point
2. Every point must be able to be seen in the game files and/or in-game
3. All points must go in order (1,2,3). Do not go off track!

So Let's go!

1.Car handling data from San Andreas

33mto5x.jpg

2.III-era animations are still present in the files (death animation, dancing anim, etc) *death anim can be seen in Entourage mission, when the first guard is killed

3.The Plants from the strip club look like the SA Plants from interiors

4.Weapon codes from SA were found (Bomb,Minigun,Flamethrower.Camera)

5.Some textures from iii/sa were re-used. Either as easter eggs or just simply,as textures

I got a question
Why gta 4 has leftovers from sa ?
What they where doing in the first place in there?
Is got to do with testing, something of the kind?

Some of them were used as placeholders, to test the engine script capabilities and stuff,,before they make new stuff

Some stuff are even left in the game files..(the leftovers)

I am not sure if the flamethrower, camera and minigun are really leftovers from San Andreas. The first two are mentioned in the WeaponInfo.xml once but that's pretty much it:
	<weapon type="FTHROWER"/>
	<weapon type="CAMERA"/>
Also, the minigun is in the game, but it is not available as handy weapon, like in Vice City or San Andreas; four of them are mounted on the helicopter the SWAT units use, the Annihilator. As for the camerca, well Niko's phone does have a camera, so it is possible that it was controlled by the said file, which was changed in the course of the development.

What I find funny is that Rockstar claimed they built RAGE from scratch, however left over files from the PS2 era games actually proves that RAGE was built off the basics of Renderware. Rockstar you've been caught out here.

I think so aswell. It looks like it kinda used SA's camera thing as base, but, it was configured to work like a phone camera, not like a photo camera.

Hell V has leftovers from III.

Really? Are you serious?

If you guys didn't noticed, IV TV programs shows some GTA San Andreas cities (Las Venturas/Los Santos), this is the reason these SA files are there.

That footage was recorded on GTA San Andreas, if you look closely.

I remember looking into the game's files and I saw a file containing vehicles properties (i.e: license plates, lights, dirt textures, reflexions)

the death animation is a beta animation made for GTA IV. the animation looks nothing like the one in SA.

Why did they kept it? They knew they would not use it. Even if they were placeholders.

They used it maybe for testing the engine mechanics, in pre-alpha

They used a car from SA, and, that's why you can find the vehicle.txd textures, probably

The III-era death animation is still used in-game. This can be seen when a dynamic object(such as a lamppost or streetlight) falls and comes into contact with a pedestrian. Instead of Euphoria kicking in, they fall to the ground using a preset animation. This can also be seen if you pop people off extremely far away using the sniper rifle.

Also, some San Andreas vehicle textures are left over:

Yes.

Ive seen the typical cardboard boxes in backgrounds of cutscenes and behind some half-opened, non-enterable garage doors.

Ive also seen one of the barriers somewhere.

Yup. some of those things were there, just to test the engine mechanics, mostly, because, there was no reason to make new models, just for testing stuff.

Handling has some leftover lined (and no, not the SA airplane ones). It was always the GTA 3 one but modified in time
