I didnt join freeroam frequently until i atleast had an ap pistol and knew how to defend myself, I think low level players that get taken advantage of in freeroam bring this upon themselves, They should be ranking up through missions and races before they enter a complete and lawless jungle.

Yeah I think it's fine for low levels to be in free roam. People always say it's like a jungle but it's really not. The map is huge and empty, even with a full lobby. You do bring it upon yourself if you go to certain hotspots like the Eclipse Towers or LSC but other places are tame as f*ck.

Lol no. It's not my place to tell people how to play or what they should do. Freeroam is a jungle, more than likely they'll be eaten.

No. It's their problem if they keep being killed and stay in the same lobby.

No. You build up skills, tactics, and techniques while dealing with assholes in free roam that you can't learn against AI bots. Plus, there are people in free roam that are willing to help you and show you the ropes. AI bots aren't willing to that, LOL. I've put newbs in their first apartment and taught them how to play.

I guess it's really up to them OP.

Can't say it'll do them any favours coming to kill me with their SNS pistol vs my Fully modded carbine rifle.

But what do you mean by "taken advantage of"?

If you're talking about their lack of experience in PvP, free roam definitely will help them get better...

...even if it does come at the expense of free kills for me XD

Low level players should be in public lobbies. They can't learn anywhere else, even on YouTube, because all you see are money glitching videos; someone has to help them.

The low levels will develop skills over time as they play more and more in public lobbies. You see a random that's level 100 or higher? Chances are the low level will be afraid of them and move on to more "peer" worthy randoms.

Besides, who doesn't like helping noobs?

1-20 I find are good and will want to just give lifts or I show them how to get into the airport or base. Lvl 21-110 usually want to shoot first so I prepare myself that I'll be doing a revenge mill soon.

Lvl 111 up I find mostly good people.

Anyone low level by now is assumed to be a 2nd character. They have money and can, from level 1, get the Special Carbine which is one of the best weapons (in my opinion) in the game. So no. What if it's a legitimate low level that's playing for the first time? Why not? GTA is all about freeroam and to confine them to missions to level up will only reduce the appeal of playing the game. The tutorial was a drag as it was so having to level up to level 3 is just asking too much.

I don't know, I mean, sometimes I'm driving up peacefully when some low level tries to roll up on me. AP pistol at the ready and poor fool starts firing. Come on man. What's a level 5 gonna do to a level 317. Killed his ass and he still wants some more. OKay, this fool needs some of Lester ' s anal lube. Kill him 10 times then I wonder off. Then he comes back again...ugh.

No...they can learn a valuable lesson...like the fact that you can collect more powerful weapons from gang attacks that remain with you as long as you're in session...the more you play the more you learn.

Like livejoker said, the Special Carbine and Bullpup rifles have helped low levels enormously. In fact I hand them out. Low levels can play where they like.

Nah, cause there are a few of us who see low levels and will help them out by going around doing gang attacks, robbing stores and such.

But then, we teach them that there are nice people who play GTAO, which is kinda hard to come by.

I told my newcomer level 16 friend to buy a house in Paleto and stay there until he levels the f*ck up from this weekend.

And yes, I help him level up too.

I like low level players, its fun helping them or playing shotgun whilst they get to grips with the city.

We all got the drive to level up in order to get the Assault rifle, having been owned by it in freeroam! Lol

I would go as saying those should be their first purchase, and upgraded before buying property or especially any vehicles.

True. A couple of times I have messaged a low level to ask if the want a special carbine, they say yes and when I get there they want to show me their new mask collection. They didn't get one. First things some players buy! Masks!

I believe it's a play at your own risk there. You make a good point OP, work on missions and races until you have a decent weapon and you can hold your own. But, I don't think they should be at least until level 30 or a little earlier. Then said player has like the Assault Rifle and Sniper Rifle and SMG.

They'll learn faster if they play with higher ranked/experienced players and learn how to watch out for themselves and their crew members as well and watch for tendencies.

If they are that concerned then there's also solo/invite only/crew only sessions they can play in until they feel they are of a sufficient level like you did yourself OP.  Or they can go in passive mode.

When newbies play in free roam, they'll meet griefers, chradder squeakers, everyday folk role playing or just doing their own thing, and they'll meet super nice givers of help, advice and much love.
The best and the worst of us, no different to what they'll find in a race or co op mission.
They may as well jump right in and get the full experience right off the bat.
