IMO definately not ok, quite the opposite in fact.
Putting that poor man through tremendous amounts of anxiety and distress for cheap laughs and a pretentious sense of moral superiority on the part of the degenerate joker and some audience members has no semblence of justification whatsoever.
Some may argue that it did put the man of cheating in the future, though his cheating is most likely a one-off mistake and he is not a serial cheater, in line with the vast majority of cases of cheating. Even if he was indeed the very rare type of serial cheater, the potential benefits fail to offset the harm done by a long shot.
Though all the trouble can have been avoided if the man who was tricked done thesimple and obvious thing of checking the identity of the unknown caller to ensure it was the woman with whom he hadthe affair.
