like the title says, what do you guys think about a futuristic Openworld Game set in let say 2050s or 2100s or a far future with flying cars, jetpacks,Robot Cops,Super Smart NPCs and futuristic weapons? will it be Critically or Financially Successful?

Side Note:CoD Advanced Warfare,Titanfall and Halo inspired me to begin this thread lol,i think the Openworld Genre needs Sci-Fi games just like those aforementioned FPS games (even though i am not a fan of FPS).

Well...there's that game that game CD Projekt Red(The Witcher) was making, Cyberpunk 2077. But it's been under the radar for quite a while now. It might be at gamescom this year, but that's just me guessing at it

Here's a CG trailer for the curious:

Damn that would be Superb...something no other openworld IP have ever done, hopefully i hope it becomes Criticaly acclaim, anyways after GTA's 20th Anniversary in 2017 future GTA games should be set far into the fuure maybe 2050s and beyond (maybe just two games post-2017) afterall GTA has done the 60s,80s,90s and the early 21st Century (2000-2014) plus the 80s has been done to death from Vice City to Scarface to FC3 Blood Dragon it enough...We need Lazer Guns and Flying Cars ;) :p

but still have elements grounded in reality like Normal Cars,No flying buildings...It must be Full-blow Sci-fi like the OP states, and it looks like Cyberpunk might be the first.

The setting behind Cyberpunk 2077 is something I'm really looking forward to, and I hope that CDPR manages to nail the overall "feeling" of a futuristic city. Although, watching that trailer again gives me high hopes of them doing this.

I might be mistaken because I have had a long day but didn't Bioware say that the next Mass Effect would be more of an open world game?

If I'm still alive by year 2050+ only then I can answer your question man.

On topic... sci-fi FPS game? Maybe a sequel of No Man's Sky?

When I think of sc-fi I also think of Star Citizen and Elite: Dangerous.

Erm, aren't the Mass Effect games fairly open-world?
Borderlands series are open world.

RPGs can be Openworld, and Vice versa, Borderlines is an Openworld FPS with RPG elements, Mass Effect is not really Openworld, but it is an RPG.

Human Head's Prey 2 comes to mind but it's a shame it got canned and now is being re-worked into a "spiritual successor to System Shock 2".

I am from the future and I can tell you it will be critically and financially successful.  0_o

Anyway, I look forward/back to Cyberpunk 2077 if it ever comes out.
