1) Graphics (obviously).
2) Better car customising.
3) Michael and Franklin are better than CJ. CJ is on the same level as Trevor IMO as I dislike them both.
4) Los Santos is way more detailed.
5) I don't know.

However I think SA has a better map layout and the countryside is more ominous/creepy. To be fair most of what GTA V does better is because of its technical advances.

(1).Graphics

(2).Level of Details- i.e.Wet Clothes,Flip-Flopping,Animals etc.

(3).HD Los Santos

(4).Customisations not just in Cars, but also for Guns...Biggest Map in the Franchise making SA the 2nd Biggest Map (even though SA's Map will just fit in V's Los Santos alone :p ;) )

(5).GTAO

E.T.C!

Note:at it the first game (since GTA2) that is getting a special love of being physically re-released for another generation of console...yeah SA was like the "Best" for many people but R* didnt give a f*ck about re-releasing it physically again just like V :p

1. Technically superior
2. High attention to details and focus on realism now, than in GTA SA.
3. Vast map
4. Character skills and specials
5. Challenging cops and improved NPC AI.

Overall, I feel GTA SA easily beats GTA V when it comes to deeply satisfying, lengthy, interesting and fun gameplay.

Sure.

1) Story

V's may not be a work of art, but neither is most of the other stories in the franchise. SA had a weak story to say the least, however it was far behind the average story in the franchise in terms of plot, the focus on the plot and a beginning, middle and end. V's was an average GTA story for me. Unlike SA though I feel like it did have more moments. In V we had Bury The Hatchet, Jewel Store Rob, Paleto Score, By The Book, etc. SA had too many wacky missions none really stood out besides missions like Stowaway, Breaking The Bank, etc. I'll give it to SA, it had a better length and ending. But everything else V does better in the story aspect. (excluding characters)

2) Side activities

Quality > Quantity. Look, SA does indeed have a lot of side missions. However hardly any of them stand out that well. I remember back in the day when I use to play SA all the time, I never did any side missions that today, looking back at the game, I don;t even remember that they were in the game. I mean, Quarry, Trucking, Valet, Train Driving, really? I mean, Pimping, Home Invasions, the ones that stood out enjoyed me, but unfortunately not all of them were enjoyable. The same could be said for V's, but atleast with V's side missions most of them stood out. Bail Bonds, Paparazzi, Arms Trafficking, Hunting, Vinewood Souvenirs and Rampages are better than flying an RC plane around. In fact, V is often complained with having the least amount of crime related side activities in the series, but I think that award goes to SA. People only ignore the fact that SA had little crime side activities due to the fact that the game was packed with many, yet yawn-inducing side activities.

3) Protagonist

CJ isn't half the man Trevor is, CJ isn't a third of the man Franklin is, and CJ isn't one tenth of the man Michael is. In my eyes CJ was a dire slave boy (no racism intended) that was made in less than 5 minutes. Trevor may be stupid, but atleast he has reasoning to be stupid, and isn't forced to have a different personality. Franklin may be a knockoff of CJ, but atleast Rockstar learnt from their mistakes they made with CJ and improved upon them, even if it wasn't to their full potential. And Michael doesn't need to be some "street gang nigga nigga nigga" to look tough. Rockstar nailed that on their own right.

4) Customization.

Alright. SA did haircuts better. But V had better car customizing, clothes (I wasn't a fan of the wacky clothes) and motherf*cking masks. Not much needs to be said here.

5) Weapons.

Yeah, dildos aren't my thing (I have a feeling if they did include dildos some kids would rant about how they're ripping off Saints Row) But I appreciated what V did in terms of firearm variety. There are many forms of handguns, rifles, explosives, etc. SA had this big mix of weapons that were all one type of weapon. V also had better sounds, aiming system and cover system.

1. Graphics

2. While the story is weak, it's better than San Andreas' story in my opinion.

3. The map is the biggest in the series, so it technically counts as something better than SA.

4. More side quests/missions and lots more to do

5. Los Santos is more detailed.

1. Animals
2. Finally a "big foot" exists (theoretically)
3. You can use a phone and the internet
4. You can buy cars and there are more upgrades
5. You can buy shares of the companies listed on the stock exchange

Oh, I get it. You're one of those Niko-worshipper-CJ-hater people. Anyway, OT: 1. Graphics 2. Better cars 3. Damage system 4. Drug taking ability 5. Special abilities of protagonists.

Everything, really. SA had a few things that would have been nice in V (lowriders, certain minigames), but that's not really stuff it did 'better'.

So, as for five things, how about: Graphics, Sounds, Story, Shooting and Driving.

2. Better cars

Ha! SA cars are miles ahead of V cars, in looks, speed and handling. SA has good looking supercars/sports cars and dedicated racing vehicles.

1. Graphics and physics (not car physics)

2. Details of Los Santos

3. Small details like for example sweating

4. Weapon customization

5. Peds talking, doing yoga etc.

Sadly, there are some things that V did worse like vehicles, driving physics, countryside... etc.

Ok maybe the antagonist in SA (Tenpenny that cool f*cker) was better but thats about it

The Trio is so much better than bitchy CJ

Now lets see.....

  1. Story. In GTA:SA the storyline basic is.... Well ya know. A ghetto gangster whom happen to have a 60mil project and have casino steaks. In GTAV we had a black man who wants to stay away from gang sh*t [Franklin], a normal guy living with an annoying family [Micheal] and a psycho meth-head [Trevor]
  2. Map. While I love GTA:SA's map as it has a FAR BETTER forest, after you know everything in it, it feels dull. In GTAV we have a map that is twice as bigger which had much better activity. I'm talking about off-road stunting, my favorite thing to do in GTA:O.
  3. GTA:O. Sure we have TWO TYPES of multiplayer in GTA:SA (SA:MP and MTA:SA), GTA:O is something unique in the series. Ever since I started to play GTA:O, I've been addicted to it. Not like a huge Deathmatch game (MTA:SA).
  4. Underwater world. I just love swimming in GTAV/O whereas in GTA:SA the underwater is boring. The only nice thing in it is the Underwater Blue hell hole.
  5. Fun and activity. The only 'fun thing' that I find in GTA:SA is modding. Whereas in GTAV and GTA:O I find different things to make my day. Off-road stunting, trying different vehicles, roleplaying with my characters [GTAV], doing the same thing in GTA:O while doing missions, testing new cover areas in Survivals [GTA:O], etc. I hardly ever play MTA:SA and GTA:SA anymore.

Won't count graphics. Couldn't give a sh*t as long as I can clearly see without my damn eyes getting burned out (Looking at you GTA:IV). Heck my favorite game of all times run on a 20 years old graphics engine if not older.

3) Michael and Franklin are better than CJ. CJ is on the same level as Trevor IMO as I dislike them both.

Oh, I get it. You're one of those Niko-worshiper-CJ-hater people.

Just because we don't like CJ doesn't mean we're [GTA protag here]-worshiper-CJ-hater dudes.

This post sums up my opinion. I must also say that, a lot of people complain about V's story being short, but I'll take that over SA's needlessly long and incoherent plot. Actually V's story is longer than GTA VC's and around the same length as GTA LCS.

Its just so damn boring. I can make my own fun doing missions in GTA:SA. Same with any mission actually, but once I finish GTA:SA's story its just flat out boring. Heck even the myths that used to make my fun in SA are just completely fake.

To SA's credit every vehicle has its own, unique feel. That's something that really annoys me in GTA V is the lack of distinction between different classes.

Exactly! It's even more annoying driving the dirtbike, like how in IV you knew you were landing when you landed a jump and it felt great. Now in V, you land a jump and, assuming you don't fall off and kill yourself, you look like a rock being dropped on the ground and watching it bounce forward

  1. Graphic (Doesn't need to be said, it's pretty obviously)
  2. Detailed city (Technical improvement)
  3. Better protagonists (Cause i can switch from Michael, Franklin & Trevor, and i don't need to be always with little toy CJ)

EDIT: I just noticed 'Five things'. Well, i don't have anything to add (yet). If i remember something i will edit post.

2. Car customization (No, hydraulics weren't that fun)
3. Less boxy cars (I'm looking at you, GTA SA Premier...)
4. Better protagonists
5. Trees (Seriously, GTA SA's trees were really bad)
There. Now, I'm waiting to get flamed for my opinion.

Zentorno. And yes, the Zentorno is sh*ttier than the rusty Tractor.

Also:
6: Rusty Tractor. We get a rusty tractor.
