What purpose did this serve at all for players who didn't know TLAD's story, and for the players who did know TLAD's story? Every GTA has problems with its game, and not one GTA game is perfect, but the story of the game was usually pretty good, if not entertaining. But GTA went out of its way to make the story pointless, and you can literally skip almost all of its missions, and only play about 15 missions total if that, and you will still understand 90 percent of what happened, and why in the game. A story without heart, 3 or 4 things to look forward to in the story, but 100s of things to sidetrack you, or sidetrack you long enough so when you finally do get to the jewel heist, there us no planning needed, and no execution required, it's just kind of meh. The whole story strikes no where deep, usually there is some kind of a deep meaning to a story like....... 3:10 to Umah. Just something to think about. The while story doesn't even need to be good, as long as it can drag you along, long enough to get to the end, and then the end can be something deep, heartfelt, something that makes sense, or something unexpected that connects all the dots in a weird way, or reveals some hidden clue to the story that makes it all make sense. The best game if the year should have an above average story at least. The most forgiving I can be is to place the story missions a little differently so you can actually feel immersion and climax in a way that makes sense vs something you know is coming but know exactly how the characters are going to react because you can see that they know they can't do what they know is good for them. Like Trevor running away from Franklin when they should have just had it out right there and right then, epic gun battle mabey with Michael watching over it with a sniper rifle, and then he is expected to help frank if Franklin can't finish the job, but the player can decide as Michael what he chooses to do. After the action comes the terrifying, yet impossible to look away cutscene depending on what you want to do. Help Franklin betray Trevor based on circumstantial events and clock ticking, or turn on Franklin, and stick with Trevor who then might or might not forgive you based on his morals, which Michael might choose to lie and say the FIB asked him to do that, but he changed his mind and helped out his true friend instead. Idk, ask three endings to me made no sense at all, they didn't even clean up ask loose ends.
