I had a conversation with a girl friend of mine and she said that once you have kids, its time to put down the controller. Which I found ridiculous.Or does anyone have a parent that plays? My Mom loves playing GTA, She's awful but she gets a kick out of smashing in to other players cars XD.

Try putting this in gen chat or the gaming section. You will get better responses there.

Stop letting your GF tell you what you can and can't do. Save that for when you're married. I'm a dad of a 10 & 13 year old and still play video games.

I'm a Dad of 2 and i don't think i will ever put down the controller.

Just because your a parent doesn't mean you need to stop everything you enjoy, I work in Law Enforcement that doesn't mean i don't like too or can't play sames such as GTAO it's the same logic really.

I don't let my girls play nor will they ever play GTA or even get to see me play the game until they are 17, I don't play GTA or other violent game until they are in bed or they aren't home otherwise the PS3/PS4 is turned off unless it's one of their days to play one of their games and even then they only get to play for an hour.

I don't want them to be consumed by video games and unlike most parents today i don't want a video game to be a babysitter.

When i was a kid we were up by 7am, showered and ate breakfast and was out the door by 9 and we were all gone all day til the street lights came on.

I was 13 when GTA III came out and even then i didn't sit inside and play video games all day like kids do now it's a shame there's a whole big world out there for them to explores and they are inside playing a video game.

Everything you said was spot on. I have a little boy and I will forever play video games. They're not just for kids. I agree I don't want my child being consumed by those things. Though I just bought him a gamecube for his birthday but it's not bad for few times a week.I was really just thinking about that the other day,Watching my little brother completely consumed by his Xbox for hours. He's ten. Or when I am on Facebook asking how my friends and family are when a few years ago I just called to do the same thing. Technology made things easier, and introduced a lot of fun things to but really crazy sitting back and remembering how I grew up without a cell phone or computer. Did have a PlayStation 1 and 2 though! Lol.

Oh I don't listen to any of that nonsense, Her opinion usually is something I take in to consideration but not this time. I can picture myself in a nursing home roaming Los Santos

I'm 25 going on 26 no kids, no wife but I have a gf, my own place, and a full time job and some people still call me immature bc I play video games a lot and tell me I should stop so I say f*ck them. I don't care how old you are and how many kids you have if you enjoy playing video games there's certainly nothing wrong with that at all. Most of us been playing since the old nes and atari days so really we came too far just to stop now.

My sister is a mother and we play the game together sometimes.

i have no children, but thats a stupid comment to make.  As long as you take care of your responsibilities, there's no reason to stop doing the things you like to do.

Good on you for doing what you gotta do, And still having time to do what you like to do. Just sucks to be looked down upon for enjoying a hobby.Sounds so silly.Ive been in to gaming since as long as I can remember. More vividly I can still see me and my sister playing Rampage on N64. Nostalgia <3

I'm 34 and a Parent, I don't think i will give up gaming until i can't hold a controller, It's how i socialise with real life friends since we moved away from where we used to live, Also the group of friends i game with range from 30 to mid/late 50's and none of us plan on giving up any time soon.

Exactly.  My sister is a single mother, she works full time and takes good care of her daughter but she still finds the time to do the things she likes.  After she puts her daughter to sleep we'll sometimes play GTAO together, though it's usually late as hell like 1 in the morning.

You'd think it'd be brother + sister kicking ass and taking on the whole lobby.  Generally it starts that way but it usually ends up us stabbing each other repeatedly & driving each other's personal vehicles into the ocean. lol.  gotta love family.

I have a grown up daughter who has 3 kids of her own and she's the one who gives me a hard time about gaming lol. I just tell her "relax babe I'm a grown man and can do what I like, just remember who it was that bought that car your driving".

But most of my friends my age have no idea I'm a GTA fanatic and probably wouldn't understand anyway so I just keep it to myself.

Parent here as well! Glad to see there are others on this forum, someone want to head up a GTA Parents crew? LOL.

I agree with a lot of the other parents here as well, in particular using it as a release to vent some steam. Sometimes after a long day, it's good to sit down with friends and shoot someone in the face. I enjoy gaming as a social avenue as well, most of the people I play with are older or reasonably mature.

If any of the parents here want to add me on PSN to play look me up: GOW71 and leave a message with the request, or I ignore it. Always good to play with people that understand why you have to leave in the middle of a mission or something to attend family matters.

Well I'm not Lenny, RIP (if that's what you meant) but I do have a lot of respect for the bloke even if he was a ruthless Bastard! He's book inspired me as my upbringing was very similar to his and I've been a couple of his fights many years ago. Anyway I'm going OT.

Might look up that 2o2p place.

I'm going to be a dad in January. I've wondered about if I'll still have time to be playing video games. I hope so. No plans on stopping. We babysit my niece and nephew 5x a week. The boy is 5. All he wants to do is play video games. His dad lets him play all he wants at his house, which weekends only. His dad also let's him play GTA, Mortal Kombat, etc etc. I think that's really bad but I won't tell another man how to raise his kids. But when he's at my house, at most I'll let him play once a week, and only for a short time. And I only let him play Sonic. That's the only kids game I own.

My dad hated/hates video games. I never owned a system until I was 20. He thinks it's a complete waste of time. I tell him that if you watch tv or movies, you're a hipocrate. All of the guys on the construction crew I work with think video games are only for kids. One guy I work with spends every weekend drinking beer from waking up until going to sleep and watching movies all day. But I'm the one wasting my time.

Many old friends I grew up with, had a similar hair-brained notion. They are all now, unhappy, divorced or divorcing, living pathetic drama filled lives. All because they took somebody's notion/opinion, on how they should live their lives........  :bbq:
