Well, as we all know, online is a complex situation. On one hand, Rockstar has projects they're working on (heists and further DLC) but then on the other, they're working on patching glitches and exploits. It's almost like a revolving door, but neither destination is desirable.

Think about it. Even if DLC and heists get released, people will complain about it. Most will love it, but then..... the wretches of the so called "YouTube Community" will find exploits and ways to pervert Rockstar's intentions.

They can keep issuing patches and threaten people with bans, but even more people will keep trying to test them. This really makes me wonder, should Rockstar just shut online down? Should they can their 'ambitious' project?

Here's what I thought. Rockstar may come to an ultimatum. They will either:

Option A) Shut down servers on 7th gen & restart online with Next Gen.
OR
Option B) Let servers continue with current gen, but stop issuing patches and updates.

What do you think? Should they stop online as a whole? Or will we witness the slow death of Rockstar's beloved project?

Why would they just shut down online? They have multiple divisions that are there to patch and release updates.

No.

Anyone who pre-ordered GTA V would want their money back as the supposed improvement Online has people hooked and is likely the only reason to re-buy the same game

I get where you're coming from, OP, but the real problem here is the YouTube community. These savages will do anything for views + money and they won't be stopped.

Rockstar doesn't like them, either, but they can't do anything about it. Shutting down/stopping patches for Online will only make people angry. I say leave it as it is because next-gen GTA V will be 10000x better than what we have now anyway.

But you've seen the trend. Patch gets released -> UNLIMITED $$$ GLITCH AFTER [Patch Number]. Game continues to get butchered further. There has to be a breaking point, that's all.

Rockstar needs to actually hand out punishment towards idjits. And no, they shouldn't shut it down.

In my opinion, GTAO is in a Beta state.

- It's unfinished in terms of content (no heists, hydra, much much more).

- There are so many glitches that ruin the game for many and give youtubers something to do so they can keep making a fake living.

It's a vicious cycle and next-gen will break it (or at least take people away from this madness).

Seems kinda harsh to all of a sudden shut it down to those that are legit just because some idiots post a video on how to abuse it...

As people have already said in the past, current gen is pretty much beta, look how far it's come since launch. I love GTA Online but I don't love the micro-transaction aspect of it.

No. It shouldn't be shut down, and it won't be shut down either.

GTA IV multiplayer is still up and running and has turned into a complete disaster.

Online will be around for a while, no matter how broken it gets.

IIRC, in an interview about GTA Online in Gameinformer stated that "We (Rockstar) wanted a GTA Online since GTA III" and that "Many more additions will be added to GTA Online such as map expansions and it will be growing" blah blah blah. So no, I don't see them shutting GTA Online down.

As long as they're making money of dem Kash Kurds it ain't going anywhere, and besides the amount of bad PR they'd get if they done something like that would be much worse than what they're getting atm.

Once heists are out, all the bitches that frantically try and break the game just for the latest bit of homo fun, will no more reason to do it seeing as they all justify their actions based on the fact nasty R* lied about heists ("wheres my chocolate milk!?") and because R* were conspiring with the NWO to bring down PC gaming...

What will it be once Heists come?? Oh ofc KeshKerds.

How about Rockstar shuts down online for a month, to fix glitches and sh*t?

But no GTAO addicts would lose their f*ckin minds

Well one way in solving that matter is that YouTube, from authorization by R* closes and deletes all the channels and videos of the youtube community, and preventing leaking the game, or under YouTube supervision.

This had happened before when the first leaks on GTA 5 came to youtube but got deleted after 3 hours

Op you are nuts. GTA online is Rockstars long term plan. Itll still be evolving 10 years from now. It will be stable and glitch free at some point. Shutting it down wont help thdm learn in fact iy would be the end of the compang. What crazy side of the bed did you wake up on today?

Rockstar need to put together a special team and do a massive purge. Youtube, GTA Forums etc. Ban anybody who has so much as glitched money or encouraged it. No warnings, no bad sports, no cheater pools, just permanent IP bans. I know it's easier said than done, but Rockstar need to put their foot down and implement a Joseph Stalin style of control over GTA Online & the community.

Or you know.. They can use the billion dollar they generated from this game and hire more people who know how to manage this game

But I guess that takes more work.
