No idea why everyone likes sunny cities sure there should be diversity but after GTA V

I think its time for a North Yankton/Liberty City type of city

Who's with me?

You can make any city look dark. Just adjust your tv settings. Brightness/contrast and saturation!

For VI, I want a pretty and bright Vice City with a somewhat darker story.

For VII, I want both San Fierro and Las Venturas.  San Fierro should be dark and gritty and Las Venturas should be bright and flashy.

I'd always love to see a Fargo-esque GTA.

Either that or a Carcer City GTA game.

By dark and gritty, he ment the theme of the city, Liberty City repesents that.

North Yankton would be nice.
However, San Fierro has potential to be a sunny, ordinary or gritty city. I really think it should be done again. They didn't make a 'San Francisco' parody in GTA SA, it was a bunch of half-done landmarks with roads in between.

I don't want to see SF or LV in the next GTA game. It's about time we go somewhere other than the West Coast or any other place that was in SA.

@universetwisters: Omitting SF, North Yankton could be the best setting. However, I doubt it will sell nice, but anyway I love NY.
@zuckmeslow: Oh no! LV is gritty?! Really?
The LC isn't a good idea at all, I'm just tired of it. Let everybody have a break

I feel like the only one around here, who couldn't care less about North f*ckin' Yankton.

That being said, I'd say any city has the capacity for darkness and grit, it's just a matter of what the story focuses on. And darkness and grit does not exclude a sunny and bright locale.

North Dakota? Yeah that would be kinda sick snow and sh*t, If you shot one the snow will turn bloody red. and it can be hard to drive cars cuz they might slip and i hope every GTA from now will have atleast some animals like wolfs... And it can be ice on the water and if you shot the ice will break and some places might not have ice so if you swim there to long you can lose some health. and sometimes it can snow and be storms and if you dont have to much clothes you will freeze and lose health. it would be more like real life... got so many more idees.

"My laptop needs to be fixed so i dont have any battey in need replace" so if i just touch the "loader" it will turn off.

But i am thinking about some snowy mountains you can walk in away from the snow storm maybe some wolfs inside there...some myth like snowman and sh*t, maybe some snowmans people have made so you can drive over them and ruin it and sh*t. and the radio could talk about dangerous snowstorms and soo..  You coud pick up and throw snowballs at people "like Bully" and one weapons could be "icicle"

I agree they should go with Las Venturas

Vice City is way to similiar to Los Santos

I say SF and Oakland in the 70's next. I mean we can have a decent mix of both; bright, flashy and colourful SF on the west side of the way and then on the east we've got a dark and rundown sh*thole.

And this is yet another reason why I feel that 70's Northern San Andreas is perfect for the next game. I mean it can still be done in a similar fashion in the 21st century, but there's something about the stark difference between San Francisco and Oakland during that time period.

Never again want dark and gritty. It's better that the city in question has areas that's dark and gritty. It's not interesting to have a city that feels dark all over the place. LC in GTA IV was good, and enough of the darkness. It was like a concrete jungle. Now, I hope for something different, but please keep the sunshine. I love that in a GTA game.

I'd love a dark and gritty setting again. As much as I love GTA IV's LC I do wish R* added more random street crime. It's definitely got the look, but not the "feel" of a dangerous city IMO.

However I think the dark, cold and gritty feeling is perfect for a game centred around being a criminal. I would definitely embrace a return to this sort of expression that made GTA IV (and GTA III for that matter) so great.

I'd like to see R* parody a city in Mexico, it has a dark and gritty atmosphere. Somewhere like Sinaloa or Ciudad Juarez would ne nice.

P.S. When I say dark, i mean that it's violent, and it's the color of sh*t. Just look at the f*cking map. Doesn't it look like a giant piece of f*cking turd?

I really hope Rockstar doesn't listen to guys like you

Always a sunny city isn't that f*cking boring?? But nope guys like you get apparently depressed with a dark and gritty city

and don't feel good is that it?

At least give us a dark and gritty city while also having a sunny city that would be the best option and you have to fly there with a plane or something

because I'm not sure I can take another sunny citiy

Geez.. could we do something different for a change?  I'm tired of the same damn cities.  Lets see something new.

FWIW I think Vice City would be crappy if it wasn't in the same 1980's setting.

Who's with me?

I'm not with you.
I like the game ( incl. the plot ), particularly in case of GTA, a lot of bright, good and light feel to it, mixed with few darker moods if it suits.
GTA IV was a great attempt, but I want the unique, awesome and colorful atmosphere of Vice City to return.

What about a city that's half sunny and half dark? There's an idea.

Kinda. I'd like to see Portland from GTA III, but as an entire city. Something cold, wet, grimy, and full of uncaring psychopaths and broken schizophrenics. Maybe Boston? Baltimore?

It just came to my head that the satire and humor should be a lot grittier too. Instead of the happy-go-lucky MURICA and "I'm a f*cking whore and I love it," GTA advertisements should be a cry for help. "Everyone's absolutely miserable, and we all want to die." I know you didn't ask about the humor, but I feel like it really contributes to the feeling of the city.

It can take place in a "bright" setting and still be extremely gritty. Just look at Max Payne 3. That's basically what i want for the next game. I'd like to see VC and the surrounding areas (like Cottonmouth from Manhunt 2) with a much darker/more serious story than what we got in VC and VCS. And it can still have plenty of dark/creepy areas.

Let's see, where's dark and gritty, and isn't on the West Coast? One word: Chicago.

Washington DC during the 1980s and 1990s was pretty gritty, along with Carcer City, where Manhunt took place
