How long do you think Rockstar will keep releasing Gta's?

Everything has an end.

Like with COD and BF: both Ghosts and BF4 were fails so i guess if AW and BF:H will also fail, they'll probably end them.

It's another story with GTA tho, since with V they hit the big jackpot, but i think this is the highest GTA will ever get.

As long as it's selling, why not keep making them.

Ah well, i guess they'll try again next year.

But if next COD will be Black Ops 3, another story...

Hopefully GTAs future is multiplayer free. I'm sick if single player getting sidetracked for that sh*t

At some point, probably at least three games farther down the line, they might drop the GTA name, but keep on developing games in the same style/genre, maybe at some point with real locations.

It is kind of a weird phenomenon that we have games that are largely unrelated, go by the same name. I mean, how weird would that be in the world of cinema? The common elements are pretty much the developer and general theme. To me, it'd be as weird as Casino, Goodfellas and The Departed being considered part of a series, more or less. I get that it's a marketing thing, pretty much, but still, I'd like to see the future of gaming in general move towards less franchises and more one-off games. And right now, I think Rockstar are one of the few developers that are known and respected enough to pull off a move like that.

When they stop making money. And by the looks of V that's not going to happen any time soon. GTA games aren't connected one to another (in main story, thought they do have some overlapping characters) which allows for freedom when creating a new story, which is good as it let's them do whatever they think will be good for the next one.

Unless they do a major letdown on at least two in a row, this franchise might be around for a long, long time (though Driver franchise showed it's possible to make a comeback even with two very sh*tty games in a row) , since it doesn't come around too often and doesn't ovesaturate the market with it's presence. For example, I'd expect CoD  or Assassin's Creed franchises to go down much before GTA, due to their annual releases that simply oversaturate the market and end up with variable quality in some of them, while GTA's long span between games allows for a more polished product. So as long as they can sell that product to a new and old audience, they will keep making it.

That's what people thought about San Andreas and GTA V clearly proved them wrong (bite me SA fanboys) So its easy to see a future GTA game out performing GTA V.

Unless the next GTA has mansions, casinos and heists from launch, hardly.

Two large cities with countryside between them, a few more mini games and an earlier time setting instead of modern world that would enable them to have timeless classics on the soundtrack.. easy.

I think GTA VI will be last one, sadly.. Or maybe GTA V was last? I remember one of the main developers said that they don't need to make another GTA or something like that but then they made GTA V :D

Most people will disagree with me and bash me.

But I think the next main title GTA will be the last. By 2017, it will be the Twentieth anniversary to GTA. End it with a bang, if you ask me

As time passes, technology develops. Technology develops, R* experiments. R* experiments, fans buy. Fans buy, expectations increase. Expectations increase, R* lives up. Simple as that.

We'll have 20 years more of GTA for sure.
They've said that they're going to keep the game in US; There are many cities in US with potential for being location of a GTA game.
Also, they have moved the franchise to the new HD universe, and we've seen three states in HD universe until now:
Liberty State, Alderney and Southern San Andreas.
So these locations from 3D universe have chance to be redone:
1. Northern San Andreas (San Fierro and Whetstone)
2. Las Venturas + Bone County
3. Vice City
Also, North Yankton which was introduced in HD universe, hasn't been location of a GTA entry.

So, yea, this is the future.

And PS7, and PS8 and PS9 and PS10, and all the way into PS1000 so I can see my grand kids play GTA 100

I hope they just keep doing more GTA games at least while I play video games
though I'm also hoping that they will make them faster like maximum 3 years

because five years is a long long time and even I think (I really liked GTA V) that it was way too overhyped

I can wait. I got all the time in the world.

I'd rather see LV and VC 10 times than LC.

But LC is a better place for Dark and Gritty GTA storylines.

This is how i see it (but i am no God):
The Franchise will celebrate it 20th Anniversary in 2017.Then there wil be couple of Subtitled games or even the Sixth Main game before 2018/2019.GTAO will still be around then, but SO evolved and different from today's version (maybe a couple of sequels set in it Universe i.e.GTAO V2 or V3 etc).
After GTA2's 20th Anniversary in 2019 (1999-2019) and III's 20th in 2021 (2001-2021),Rockstar might then decide to do one of the three:
*Put the Franchise "45 Years Plan" into effect.
*A 10 years hiatus (2021-2031) but that would kill the Openworld Genre and be a disaster for Gaming and Take2
*A 10 years hiatus from using the U.S as a Setting,remaking 1999's London 1969 into 3-D and start a new European/Non-US Era.
Those 3 plans or they might Reboot the Franchise as a whole dropping the Multi-Verse models and rebranding the Franchise from "GTA" to something else but already known during the time when the GTA name was used (1997-2021),the franchise will still be successful and very BIG but no future games will break 2013's V's World Records.

That just my prediction, but like i said before i am no God.

Won't happen. Multiplayer is the focus of the gaming industry now. We're more likely to get a strictly online GTA sometime in the future.

I don't know when it'll happen, but when Gta will come to an end, I think R* should make a Gta having ALL the main protags who appeared in previous Gta's, including 3D era ones to finish the series. Just wishing!
