SecuLauncher: Failed to start application [2000] keeps coming up. I've tried installing several different versions of C++ visual redistributable, including the one from the game install multiplte times. I've reset, scanned countless forums and webpages, and made no progress whatsoever. This is an unmodded copy of GTA 4, and I want to be able to launch the game and play with LCPD:FR, but I can't even do that. Any solutions?

What are your PC Specs? And does your PC have 32-bit OS or 64-bit OS?

ASUS M11BB:

AMD A10-6700 APU with Radeon Graphics(HD 8670D)

8GB RAM(7.20 usable)

1TB hard drive

Windows 8.1 64x

The game worked a bit ago, but I deleted my C++ Visual redistributables, as per request on another forum, and this seemed to fix the LCPD:FR not loading properly for someone else.

Then try to use Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable SP1 64-bit. As your OS is 64-bit, 32-bit one won't work properly.

No change, installing Service Pack 1 did nothing.

Did you try uninstalling and then reinstalling GTA IV again? This may fix your problem.

Yes, multiple times. Definitely not a GTA issue.

Did you try any compatible modes? You can start with Windows 2000 Compatible mode and go on. See if that helps.

Yes, none work. The options available are Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista SP2, Windows 7, and Windows 8. Same error, same problem.

And did you try to to remove all C++ redistributables installed on your PC completely from Control Panel and again installed them fresh from Microsoft's own web page and not from the one that came with GTA IV? You can try this step if you haven't.

My final try would have been Running as Admin. Hope this might help if it didn't till now.

Already done, no fix. I set it to always run as administrator, so I wouldn't have to bother. Same error as before.

Did you try formatting your OS and reinstalling again fresh? Or did you try any commandlines till now?

Reformatting the drive would probably work, but I don't have a backup drive big enough for 300 GB and I haven't tried any command lines yet.

But before that, you can try and install latest patch for IV which is 1.0.7.0. if you haven't till yet. If you did, then you can try commandline method and add these lines:
-norestrictions
-nomemrestrict

I've been running patch 1.0.7.0 the whole time, and the command lines do nothing to help.

Formatting your OS and then reinstalling again and after that installing GTA IV is the only choice left then. And I think you should downgrade to Windows 7. Windows 8 doesn't support many games. (For some, GTA IV is also a victim)
