I just bought the steam edition! How exciting, can't wait to get behind the cockpit once again, it's been too long. Also going to get a new graphics card and flight stick come Monday so pretty excited about that :D

I also bought it. Glad I got it while it was still $4.99 because the price went up to $12.99 today. I got the Steam version because it has multiplayer and supposedly is better optimized than the retail version (which I have installed at the moment). I'm hoping that the VRS Superbug and Tacpack works with this version. Those are the 2 must have addons if you're into fighter jets.

BE WARNED!

there seems to be trouble with using steam backup to save the original state of the game, as such, I do not recommend adding on aircraft and scenery until this problem is fixed :'(

unless you have super super speed interwebs and dont mind redownloading a 10gb game every time you make a huge change to the game that end up breaking it..

Can't you just turn the option off?

Sorry but could you explain it more?

Sometimes a person can royally mess up their entire game folder by messing with settings in config files and by adding addons to the game which would require a fresh reinstall to get the game in working order, surely some people here knows what that can be like especially the hit or miss of adding mods to GTA4, so, to save several hours of downloading the game all over again, Steam lets you back up your game files for future use. currently, Steams built in backup of FSX's installed game only backs up a small portion of it(less than 1gb of a game that was 10gb to download)

I dont know what you mean, backing up your game is entirely voluntary, but mostly recommended to save yourself from having to download the game again(10gb)

Oh right, I wouldn't even attempt to do that kind of stuff. I just install the sh*t and play it :)

Also majorly off topic, looking around steam I can't believe the amount of games are out their that I had wished for but never knew existed. Like this game I bought today called World of Diving, I've always wanted a dedicated diving game! Can't believe I'm a pc gamer now :/

Oops, I thought you meant the Steam backup thing where it saves your game progress to the cloud.

I've personally never used the Steam backup feature to backup my game files.

Man I'm happy right now, got my flight stick today couldn't wait till tomorrow. This the ONLY game to EVER run on my pc on max settings with absolutely no hiccups and a stable frame rate! How exciting. Normally I'm pushing my luck to run games on the lowest. Looks like I won't need to go get that graphics card after all.

@Staypuft: I'm going to buy a cabin crew add on, will this affect what you were talking about before?

be wary of buying actual addons right now, some might not be compatible with FSX SE yet

Nice pic man. I'm having trouble with my damn co-pilot on the Amsterdam to London flight, where shortly after takeoff a passenger has a heart attack so we have to divert for an emergency landing at Rotterdam. He doesn't update the navigator, even though the airport is directly behind me, I still would like to know which exact direction to come in at. I find it very immersion breaking that I have to pause the game and look at the map myself and then circle around a few times to line the runway up, especially when this guy needs to urgently get to a hospital!
Not to mention the other passengers who just want to get to London.

Edit: Clear skies as far as the eye can see. I'll upload some sick storm pics later but for now: D1iFnfy.jpg

Also, anyone knows what's up with Miami? I can't find the airport in the list, the only Miami airports on the list drop you straight in the water.

It has always been safe. It's just that some add-ons weren't compatible due to path differences.

One of the more popular ones being the VRS Superbug and the Tacpack which still aren't compatible as far as I know.

I tried for so long to get a nice shot of my plane in a storm with lightning in the background, I literally went frame by frame and I still couldn't get it with the lightning, it's so damn quick :(

Finally got my machine up and running and FSX tweaked. SO f*cking happy going from low settings and sh*tty fps to maximum setting and high fps, I can finally fly properly in storms! Although if that anti-aliasing box is ticked, that's when it starts playing up but I can't even tell. It's like a whole new experience for me :)
