Having models ALWAYS loaded

I'm modding main.scm to create my own version of SA. There are several models that I load throughout different scripts and missions.

Can I have these models always loaded from the get-go and never released? Will there be any performance issues? 

Also, say for instance I load the models from the start and only release them when CJ is in an interior. At anytime that CJ is NOT in an interior, does the game engine automatically release models because "it feels like it"??

If you request a model via SCM, it won't be marked as no longer needed as long as you don't explicitly set it to via the mission script OR the mission which requested the model ends. In other words, if you request it from something like a script which never ends, it should never be allowed to be unloaded.

If I have 15 models loaded and never released, will that cause performance issues?

I don't think so. If anything, I think it might only occupy some streaming memory. That is, textures will be more likely to dissapear when no stream memory fixes are used.
