Hi guys!

I played GTA IV on my friend's xbox.

Now i bought GTA IV on steam and i really want to use it only as DRIVING GAME :D

Installing car mods and in case simulation driving mod (even if i already like the original one)

Just few question

- How can i add cars in the game?
- I'm not interested to play again the game...so i guess it's better to download a complete 100% savegame and spawn car there? Advice me :)

Thank you very much!

Download whatever car mod you want. Use OpenIV to see IV's game files. The car you want will have a model and most of the times it's line for handling.dat. In OpenIV go to models>cdimages>vehicles.img. Now the car you downloaded will have a model and texture file (let's say turismo.wtd and turismo.wft, for example). Click on the "Edit Mode" at the top of OpenIV and drag the model and texture file of the car, replacing the old model and texture.

Then go to "data" folder and extract handling.dat. Open the file with a Notepad and edit out the line with what the tutorial gives you. Save and replace the original handling.dat (Make sure "Edit Mode" is on)

Unless you want to actually add a new car, not replace an old one then it's a bit more difficult but works most of the time. If you want to add, not replace a car then let me know and I'll write up a tutorial.

Make sure to always create a backup before modifying a game

Yes, you can spawn a car in a downloaded save. Both added or replaced cars will work.

And you can use a Trainer to spawn the modded car quickly if your having troubles finding that modded car.

carcols.dat are the colors of the car that appear in game. Some cars have 3 paint schemes and some have 4 paint schemes (both are referred as car3 and car4, respectively). Just find all lines for car4 and replace the original line with the line in the mod.

Which car are you replacing? - I could show how carcols.dat is supposed to look like.

Unfortunately, I don't know what are EPM settings so I can't help on that one.

For EPM you're gonna need this. I haven't used EPM in awhile, but I'm pretty sure you copy all the files into the script folder. If you don't have one, go to the GTA IV main folder (where the game's .exe is), make a new folder and name it scripts

For the EPM lines that come with the car mod you downloaded, open moveDoors.ini and delete the lines that are already in there. Copy and paste the lines from the car mod into moveDoors.ini. The letters in the lines are the letters you press to activate the movable parts manually.

And just to make things clear, you already have the .netscripthook and dsound.dll in your main directory right?

The models in the mod say "infernus" so I take it that this is the car you are replacing with Aventador.

Original Infernus has it's carcol line in car3 section. Delete the infernus from car3 section and create a new line like this in the car4 section

infernus, 0,1,0,0, 1,1,4,0, 2,2,4,0, 26,1,1,0, 35,129,129,0, 35,1,129,0, 88,1,84,0, 127,1,2,0, 127,127,2,0, 127,127,0,0, 127,1,0,0, 132,1,127,0, 132,132,127,0, 133,1,0,0,

Delete this part

And add the part I posted above here

I'll take a look on EPM tomorrow that i've more time to spend and let you know ;)

Just cause i dont want to waste space with another topic,

may i ask you if there is something to

- i downloaded Ferrari Enzo and it replaces always Infernus.... can i change another car just modifing the .wtd and .wft  files? :D

- Have more tire smoke? That's quite unrealistic for me, really really few :)

- Manual gearbox? Too much i guess :D

And last thing,i'm using my Thurstmaster 458 italia steering wheel ;) The cool thing is that i didnt have to download NOTHING,i just plugged and it already worked with GTA IV :D  Sterring and pedals are working really well :D just i can't set all the other buttons to use them.....ingame it's not working ;) Is there a way to set them? ;)

Yes, just rename the .wtd and .wft files.

I don't know anything about that but I think there might be a few mods to do this.

No problem! I'm glad to help and hope that I can answer as much as I can, but it's great that WildBrick is here helping too.

1. You can change the car to any other car BUT it has to be of the same type. So if you downloaded a 4 door car, you CANNOT replace it with a 2 door car.

In other words, to avoid problems you should replace cars of the same type. So replace a muscle car with another muscle car, and sports car with another sports car. What I mean is you can replace the Banshee or Turismo with the Ferrari you downloaded  :^:  Just change the names of the .wft and .wtd to Banshee or Turismo.

2. You know, someone asked a similar question like this awhile ago...except he wanted the skid marks on the ground to last longer. Something like that I thought you could modify in the vehicles.ide, but I'm not so sure myself. I don't think it's possible or if there's a mod for it.

3. Manual gearbox? No, I don't think so. If it helps, you can look into Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven. That game has a manual gearbox =)

4. I'm guessing for your steering wheel buttons you tried looking in the game's keybinding section. If it's not supported by default I don't know what to tell you. Maybe try looking into Xpadder  :whuh:
