Our souls awaits for a newborn body to occupy. (Taken form an old book about life and death)

I have to agree and say our consciousness takes on another form, whether that be an animal or human. Makes the most sense to me. Matter is not lost or destroyed. Neither are we.
Okay, now back to fart jokes...

Same thing before we were born, nothing.

I always just thought that it's what we want it to be (for religious or imaginative reasons) or just nothing. An incomprehensible, black, empty space where we spend all eternity; and it wouldn't bother us since we can't think, or remember anything. Pretty depressing, but still; it's very possible. I think that's why we need to live our lives with optimism.

That doesn't make any sense. How we jump to another living being has no logic at all. I see it as this - as we were a growing seed, we are living what that seed has became, a human being. Our brain activity, what we see, what we hear etc is all part of that. Once we die our body and brain can no longer function therefore ourselves cannot exist. We have this one life then that's it. I would like to believe that there is something else when we die but when you think about it nothing can be. I'm a little bit old to believe that magic isn't real so how any of you believe that we somehow go into some magical world despite our brains being eaten by worms or burned, is totally beyond me but that's your choice to believe what you wish

Nothing happens. You're dead. Your life has left your body.
Where does your life go? Nowhere. It's dead too.

Personally I kind of a small belief that while when you go, you go... idk you kind of just become a new life. Not necessarily reincarnation but when you're gone you're gone, consciousness is gone. So you won't know it. I just sort of think...
Not sure. Really one of the most puzzling concepts to understand of death. Nothing itself is confusing. Even after understanding the concept of being blind, it's still hard.
