V without a doubt pushed as far as any PS3/360 game could.

I still stand by the notion that they cut back some of the A.I. and physics due to putting a lot of resources towards the graphics/effects. (It does look pretty damn amazing)

Even the car spawning bug that has been around for years finally broke even more due to the low amounts of RAM left over. There was an excessive amount of repeat cars spawning for a majority of players.

Can't wait for the new gen versions.

I'm surprised the PS3 and 360 could handle such sophisticated yoga mechanics. That's pretty impressive.

Gee, GTA V reminds me of games made by Rareware (Nintendo era), and how they would use each drop of performance to deliver stunning looking games on such dated hardware.

Either way, GTA V was perfect way to end the last gen of consoles, showing us that these machines have reached their limits, and that's time to move onto greater platforms.

I remember this one time in SP, 90% of the cars that spawned were mini-coopers

That's basically it. Just look at Conker's Bad Fur Day, released right in the last year of the N64. It looks even better than the prior Rareware games, and it doesn't even require an expansion pack. Now Rare's first (and last) game on the GameCube was Starfox Adventures, which looked very impressive, especially for an early game. Then Conker got a remake on Xbox (more powerful than both PS2 and GC), which despite the questional changes had really impressive graphics too.

If only the leap between game consoles didn't progressively get smaller each generation... revamped GTA V would look even more awesome. I hope there are some unspoken as of yet improvements on PC.

They could have left out some things, performance is sh*t on both consoles.

YES!

-Wet Clothes Effects
-Animals (Wild and Domestic)
-Great Draw Distances
-Superficial NPCs
-Detailed City
-Rain Puddles (Thunder Storm etc.)
-Beautiful Graphics and Visuals (with exception of Aliasing and Framerate issues due to console pushed to it limit)
-Realtime Switching System
-Ambitious MMO-like Multiplayer (that still have issues and affects SP sometimes 10 month after launch)
-Detailed Underwater
-Stunning Reflections (and effects) i.e. Sun Flare
-Biggest Map in the Franchise (making 2004's San Andreas becoming 2nd biggest)
ETC...Need i say/explain more?

Superficial NPCs? More like psychotic cowards.
Detailed City? Less detailed than GTA IV's Liberty City.
Detailed Underwater? Unnecessary.
Draw distance is good, but you can see untextured terrains (most noticeable on mountains).

But hey, some of the points are quite valid actually.

Well, in my opinion, it has been pushed to a higher level (when it comes to limits) but still, not to the maximum limits. Rockstar's excuse for any missing detail/feature is that it was initially made for older hardware, yeah, sure...

Lack of certain features was choice not limitation based.

Technologically though V does does ride the edge pretty hard.

Yes, of course, but they do blame the old hardware for lots of cut features or hell, not even included at all. If you take that into consideration, it's *almost* on the edge, not on the edge, but almost. So yeah, it did go very far out there, but not as far as objects having a very hard time spawning. That's 'the edge'. But yes, it has been pushed pretty far (as far as excellence can go, after that it would've been a buggy mess of a game).
What I'm trying to say is that some featured could've still been mashed in there. But the game does go very far for its hardware limitations.

FPS most of the time between 20-30, so yeah.
I think they pushed it to the limits for last gen.

To the possible limits, indeed. It's a wonder how they got it to work, but I still feel like some things could have been added (by that I mean, wouldn't crash the whole thing) but haven't been.

I think the FPS in GTA V is decent for a console game.

I remember GTA IV running much worse on consoles, and that game is much less technologically impressive today.

Oh that, when half of your screen is above water and the other half is below water. Yeah... a bit surprised actually finding my PS3 not freezing.

It's very close, but there's a small bit of juice in LG, particularly PS3. The Bullet engine they used for physics can be optimized a bit for PS3's SPUs according to this: http://en.wikipedia....llet_(software)

GTA v is the best game ever its not even a discussion

Red Dead Redemption is better, but yeah! Woooo!

On topic, yes it max the f*ck out of the Xbox/PS3. It amazes me what devs like R* and Naughty Dog can accomplish while you have other devs complaining about the lack of hardware.

Can't wait for GTA VI, Rockstar can pull wonders with 512MB. I want to see what they can do with 5GB.

lol  Super Metroid is better than both of those!!!!!!!

Seriously though (well I do think SM is the greatest video game ever made), I'm not sure which I would say is better.  Rockstar utilized a lot of what made RDR so great in GTAV, but then, RDR is just so a great game all around that it might be better than GTAV.  In fact, maybe RDR was the best game of the last generation, I do not know, but both are definitely in the top spots with Uncharted 2, The Last of Us, and Batman Arkham Asylum.
