do you play as the characters personality's ?

Yes and no. I'm not opposed to starting a massive police shootout with Michael or Franklin, and sometimes I'll have Trevor behave like a respectable citizen and obey traffic laws.
Though I do some character specific things. When I steal a car, I'm usually playing as Franklin, though sometimes I steal cars as Michael. I rarely steal vehicles as Trevor because whenever I switch to him his truck is nearby. However, if he's near a unique vehicle like a Lost MC gang van, you bet I'll steal it.
I never kill female pedestrians with any of the guys, and I never hire hookers when playing as Trevor. If I see a pedestrian talking on his cell phone or sipping a latte, it doesn't matter who I'm playing as, I will ALWAYS punch him.

Not really, I prefer my online character more than I ever will the three badly portraid, made for kids characters with no real backbone.
Just MY opinion after playing loads of GTA.
I do prefer online, I pay for nothing, I just make money by having fun and racing, parachuting and sometimes play with real people which makes the map much better and it feels like it has more quality.
That being said, its no wonder im online now, SP sucks donkey sausage, its old news, the same repetetive Trevor and his anal atrocities.
Not to mention the other two covered widely in this forum.
Its what rockstar wanted to happen; drive people to online.
My opinion after trying to like SP.
yeah well your opinion is sh*t and GTA online also
SP is awesome

I probably lose too much money while playing as Trevor. I go on non stop rampages especially if when I switch to him, he already has cops chasing after him.
Michael I do what he would normally so, except that I blow up Jimmy when I hang with him because he is the son I never wanted

Franklin I barely use as he was the character I disliked the most. Why no reason to kill him?
Trevor spends his time in 3 star cop chases steals sh*t and goes crazy

i play franklin as a gangster, always go to his old hood and hang out there...

Michael: Free-roaming around, driving while obeying the laws (red lights means stop to Michael).
Franklin: Free-roaming with a fast car, reaching top speed with the sh*tty driving physics all around the map.
Trevor: Get in a tank, trying to squash a car without making it explode.

I thought i was the only one!
Yeah, M is either suited up or wearing very practical clothing, drives reasonably sporty/luxary cars and will in sult you back if you start on him
F is a cool calm guy who wont start anything but wont always fight back, he lets alot go over him. He doesnt have time for a no body. Driving everything with ease and accuracy
T will slap people becusae he saw them, shoot things becuase it is fun, drive heavier trucks, vans etc and crahs into nearly everything and everytone becusae again it is fun
at least thats how the guys come across as I play as them

I'll buy him clothes from Suburban and the occasional suit from Pornsobys(sp). I also park some nice cars that he stole in his strip club. I think it makes sense that he starts to act more normal when the storyline ends if you spare him. Not only did he take part in the robbery of the UD but he also owns strip clubs along with TPI.

Well, it all depends. Right now, I am at the point where Michael is separated from his family. I am having him do a lot of things because he has a lot of freedom, like dealing with Epsilon or messing around with strippers (He has needs and because his own wife cheated with Kyle and is currently with Fabien at this point, what's the harm in fooling around with strippers?). He is also rich as hell right now after stealing from Epsilon, so he may invest in some stocks soon as well as invest in theaters or bars.
Franklin is still so hung up on Tanisha that the only way he could try getting his mind off of her is to just bang some strippers and an ex of a passenger whose ass he kicked. Also, I have him take part in races and have him also do some skydiving.
Trevor, well it's hard to say. I am not that homicidal with him towards random people, but if I switch characters to Trevor, I see the bit where he has this guy tied to the pier. I sometimes shoot that guy. I will even insult random people on the streets sometimes.

Wow, am I the only one who doesn't play to the characters' personalities? I run around with Michael like if he was Trevor, blowing sh*t up, flipping off Ballas, doing stunts, and zipping around the map in planes.
You're certainly not alone. I have yet to even touch story-mode.

I'm so f*cking glad you guys exist - I honestly thought I was the only one that had a normal daily life exist for each of the 3.
My guys all have jobs, though.
Franklin drives cabs on the night shift (the only job of these that actually generates money)
Michael works as a park ranger in Mt Chilliad State Wilderness
Trevor works in Los Santos Docks
It may be sad, but I don't care. I think it just proves the beauty of the game if I can do something as simple as that and still have so much fun doing so!

I also never commit random crime as Michael or Franklin. Never kill anyone driving. Michael will almost commit zero crime but with Franklin I'll only commit crime in an organized way to make money (armoured car robberies). I'll almost never attack gangs with Michael but with Franklin I'll sometimes attack gangs that mess with Trevor.
Trevor just does whatever, but I play him heavily as the CEO of TPE. He often wears a brown suit and has a big beard, and prefers Dubstas and Ballers. I'll roleplay a lot like stealing semi-truck trailer loads and taking them to either airfield, and I'll spend hours in the Grand Senora desert airfields because TPE invests heavily in oil.

I do distinguish their styles regarding cars and such though, M has class(luxury),F has skill(performance), and trevor doesn't give a sh*t(whatever). I guess most people do something similar.
