What about one?

THere have been a few times when I want to dislike certain posts. Not because of holding grudges against a person but simply their post wasn't at all helpful or favorable. Or maybe they were just spamming.

It would be a good comparison against your likes and even Mods could use it to see whether someones posts are not helpful.

Its weird that you could have a like button but not have a dislike. FB do the same thing. What, do they think peoples feelings will get hurt?

Im sure this has been brought up before so I guess my question is whats the reason it hasnt been implemented?

There is only a positive rep and a negative rep function by default in I(nvision) P(ower) B(oard). They're using "Likes" because it's better than the rep-system and more commonly used.

Having to add a dislike button next to the Like button would require:

- Custom coding
- Modifying the style to add the button.
- Modify the mobile version to add the dislike button.

It's very unlikely they'll add a dislike button for these reasons.

Most of the time, when you get hateful comments, they're trolls, so they would dislike in conjunction with negative comments, thus having negativity be more readily audible in that regard.

A dislike button would just cause lots of arguing and hate. We already have enough of that here.

There isn't really a need for such a feature on the forums, and it would almost certainly get abused as said above, which will also lead to members being judged if they had more dislikes than likes.

If you have an error with a post use the Report Button. Moderators will then look into the issue further - They don't need a dislike button to be able to find spam.

I agree with GTAKid667, but I'd also like to add one thing; I don't see the point in a dislike button, if you don't like the post - don't like it, simple as that.

How about you just don't click the like button if you "Dislike" it

The other person won't know that I dislike it.

Which is the point.

Does that mean I have to like every single post on this forum if I don't dislike it, even if I don't like it either? Not hitting "Like" is basically showing you're neutral on the subject, so if I wanted to show I "Dislike" a post, all I would have to do is quote them, and say "I disagree because so and so", that's it.

Or you could just ignore the post, and move on? There is no need for a button that can backfire against you.

I guess it could work if we had something like Youtube that only shows the amount of likes/dislikes a post has. Having members' names attached to dislikes though however would be a bad idea.

Ok if the names are a bad addition take it out.

Maybe use the button for new threads only. Come to think if it a dislike button on every post is unnecessary it's not like the like button is used overly frequently. Maybe it can be used as a tally to see who created the most disliked/unpopular threads at years end.

The "like" button is a totally vapid addition that contributes nothing more than giving morons a sense of self-entitlement. A "dislike" button will just be an excuse to stir sh*t. Not going to happen; likes cause more trouble than they're worth and if you're too lazy yo actually respond in a meaningful way to comments you like or dislike, then what are you doing on a forum?

This is exactly what happened the last time we implemented a 'like/dislike' function a few years ago.

Cool bump.
