Is the adult content the main reason why Gta is so popular? Think on it, guys! And...um, gals, if there are any!

No. It's the criminal act and representation of US communism. I think.

It has different aspects: The crime, The Sarcastic look at US, People's Idiocy and many more things. However, the main theme is organized crime, and it's done in best way.

I think that 90% of its worldwide fans like it because of free roaming aspects, the freedom you're given. But I like it because of storyline, freedom, gameplay, replay value.. etc.

GTA is a gaming franchise in wich you take control of a criminal. It takes place in a sand box environment. Each GTA Game has its own way of showing crime: Organized crime, small unknown criminal, Cosa Nostra, drug trading criminals, and many more. Each protagonist is a criminal, although they are protagonists of the game, they are mostely antagonistic, either of the actions they do in the storyline, or the players action.

First, it's the gameplay and missions. I remember playing the first mission to GTA 3 when you drive from the bridge/accident and see Liberty City for the first time. It was so simple, but it blew my mind. This was a whole world, a living city. The missions you do don't interfere with this aspect, because it's not a game like Mario 64 where you have an overworld and levels within it. The city still interacts with you as you commit crimes.

The freeroam aspect is a logical extension of this. You choose when to complete missions, and the rest of the time you can do whatever you want. In IV and V, I completed the missions before doing much exploration, because there's this feeling of anticipation that pushes me forward.

The "unique" gameplay  melt with the story and themes.

There is a LOT to list here, 'cause the idea revolves around giving the players, total freedom!
Driving and Shooting for all the sh*t you can do, and whatever you want.
The series packs some amazing characters, humour, and well written dialogues, that are good enough for setting up the atmosphere, otherwise I don't play for the story, rather its just all about the crazy action, the toys and the tools to create all the good parts of gameplay for my ultimate GTA experience.
Vice City remains to be my favorite in the series.

Having to comply to social rules is all well and good.
But sometimes don't you want to slip those bonds and blow sh*t up?

That is why we have GTA.

US Communism?! WTF?! America is pure capitalism, which is a real shame, considering that life was great when the Russians ruled down in Europe...

No. The war starting is the main reason in game (for funny things OFC)

I think the reason has been always the same since the first GTA was released. It's the feeling of freedom and because of this some voices about communism and democracy have risen in this topic :) I remember 1997 when I played GTA 1 for the first time. I rose my eyebrows at this game, but in a very positive sense, I had never seen something like this. It's rather obvious that a priest can't be a protagonist in GTA. In order to make the plot interesting and provide the players with the necessary amount of action and fun they have chosen gangsters.

This has been like your 30th topic today.

OT - It varies from person to person. Some people want to cause mayhem while others want to pretend to be a cop or a bus driver or something silly like that.
