To determine what we want the next GTA to be, the most important thing for us to be interested about the game is the setting. I'm not aware that such a decision woud have been made for the next GTA. But I'm confident that there will be next GTA.

So to figure out what GTAForums desires, this poll is trying to determine, which region is the most desired setting. You may reason your choises with the specific cities, ofcourse, but this topic is not about the cities, this topic is about the geographical regions and cultures, that you find most interesting and suited for  :r*: to make a satire of.

Please discuss.

New England is to peaceful, would still make for a great setting. Otherwise, Florida, East-Coast.

London or Paris outside the US, Japan could be interesting too.

Yes, it's peaceful, or creapy if you listen to Stephen King :panic:

So, do you want both or are you tied between them? :dontgetit:

Groovy cool!

Man, it was tough deciding between the Netherlands and Germany. I went with Germany though, just as an "eeny meeny miny moe" pick.

I mean tied of course. But having both in one game would be even better, but it won't be anytime soon (Obviously).

What I really want for the first new setting would be Boston. I couldn't care less about having the New England countryside/towns, just Boston itself will suit me fine.

I'll agree with you here. While everybody claims that GTA doesn't work outside of the USA, with how much London is featured in the media it could surely work as well, if not more, as most US cities.

Of all people you would known that I'm a fan of the idea of a 70's SF based game, but hell I'm more in support of London for the next game than I am of Vice City.

Let's screw other places, I really want Rust Belt Cities, especially Detroit and St.Louis. Every timelapse is proper for these cities to be used for GTA. Crack epidemic, heroin epidemic, major car industry and its decline, fierce wars between street gangs, economic crisis, falldown and rise again... These cities have seen them all. Economic situations, crime related clusterf*ck situations, being torn down by drugs... what else a GTA game can need?

For continent, I say "Europe". Europe is maybe a bigger melting pot than the whole America continent, I'm saying it for real. Take London for example. London is always a "shaken down place", but the obvious examples for is that one of the world's higher prostitution rate is in London, once (around 2005) UK was torn down by a ketamine epidemic, which even beat down ecstasy, the drug on the throne of UK criminal for all-time. Let's look at other place in Europe. Eastern Europe is notorious for its wide prostitution rackets... Russia to Albania, Albania to Serbia, Serbia to Greece, Greece to Turkey (Istanbul, more specifically). Also Europe has one of the widest drug distribution lines in the world. Russia and Turkey are two of the biggest bridges from which drugs are brought in and pushed out to be sold for. Also there are such countries as Russia, UK, Italy, Albania where the drug gangs can deserve a "honorable" mention.

I think UK totally deserves to be a GTA setting, but my bigger dream is seeing Mexico as a GTA setting if it's an "outside" setting we're talking about. Huge marijuana farms, brutal executions by the drug cartels, RVs used for producing meth, finding a huge pile of drugs under six feet of ground, illegal gun trade... I'd like to see 'em in a very well touched way.

If you want to see a country outside of USA; then we are gunna have to have it like Sleeping dogs, where they speak Chinese. For example, if you think the next game in the franchise will take place in germany, then it means the characters are gunna have to talk german in most cut scenes, wich will be weird. thats why I want it in US, or some country were you speak english

A lot of people want a game set in their country but honestly, there I can't see a GTA game outside US. I think Rockstar already said they will never leave America. Anyway. I would obviously choose every state, the whole of US and if not, Id go for Brazil but only if it's Rio.

However I could dig a full scale Liberty City, just as big as NY in real life and some country side since GTA V's map already is as big as Manhattan in real life. Imagine having seasons there and realistic winter where snow would fall down and pile on the streets and relive that magic NY Christmas with all the decorations and sh*t all over people's houses. Honestly, I fancy that idea more than Vice City or anything else except the entire USA idea just like THE CREW.

They could do Canada. The cultural changes between the two are pretty insignificant.

I think the perfect setting for GTA would be the entire UK, England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, etc.

I even thought this when I lived in England, with the Sectarian Conflict and the IRA and all of that in Ireland, it would be a very interesting game.

It's nice to see that people vote. It would be even better, if the poll could be voted on by all of GTA Forums and not just those few that hang around the GTA Series Chat section. :sigh:

It's voted by more than 35 members, but if this same poll was posted at V selection, it would get over 200-300 voters maybe even more, since majority of fanbase is there.

I've voted for everything in the list just to make sure it's possible.

But what I want is San Fierro or Vice City - both have potential, and both were poorly done when there were introduced (ignoring GTA 1). I want San Fierro more than Vice City, but the perfect next GTA for me is both VC and SF, where you can switch between two regions with different characters.

I could have posted it in V section, but it would have been moved here anyway. Maybe when there is enough time from V they will move the poll to a gta next section.

Not possible for GTA to be set in Europe. Gun laws, different languages, political pressure - I couldn't see it happening.

Yes, however nobody would sue, if every nationality was depicted in an unfavorable way. And there indeed is a lot of crime in Europe. And they already make localizations for different languages. Now they could do the voiceacting in different languages. I bet there would be a whole lotta actors in Europe ready to take the jobs, and would not demand insane amounts of pay. Now that there is cloud services around, discspace might not be an issue.

If the first and last reasons were to be true, we wouldn't have had GTA 4 set in an expy of New York City.

America still holds potential, there's still lots of easy stereotyping to be done. The games sold worldwide, and awareness of a country's issues are important. Everyone knows the American associations, the references, the jokes, and that makes the concept of GTA easy to understand. You set GTA in another country, there's not the same level of understanding.
