I'm not a huge thread maker, but I thought this was an interesting addition to the game that doesn't seem to have been discussed.

So apparently with the recent update, Rockstar has decided to add some realism to the modification options.  Spoilers actually create downforce.  If you scroll down the spoiler list you can see the traction bar go up slightly.  (I'll edit in crude iPhone pictures in a bit.)

So what do you all think?  Will you be adding spoilers for that extra leg up in races, or do you prefer to take your chances to have a better looking car?  I for one don't like spoilers on my cars but since my crew is full of try-hards I'll no doubt be forced to put them on for races.

This is very interesting. I'm going to have to add them now. I'm surprised they didn't add this in the game earlier.

I'll never have a spoiler for my cars no matter how much traction it adds and I'll never respect anyone having a GT spoiler in his car, tasteless f*cks

Cue to all 12yrs old kids putting massive racing spoilers in Pantos, Warreners, Futos, anything that can generate a massive downforce...

I wonder if this applies to spoilers that are part of the body style or just LSC ones

Thats easy to be tested. Just start off with a stock spoiler and see if the traction changes when you switch to the LSC options.

only reason this is good is because it further helps the comet in staying top of the sports class

You mean cars that may come with or without spoilers? (I.E.: Infernus)
That may take some time to test

Are the stats affected by what type of spoiler you use?

Well at least now they actually DO something and you're not just paying to look tasteless.... unless you're into that look, then it's cool.

Tested it, stock spoilers do not add traction. They are just show.

And sometimes when you go from stock to lets say GT wing, it won't add the traction when you chose the GT wing. Odd glitchy mess.

Well the GT Wing gives the biggest traction boost and the low level gives the lowest boost.  In this case more expensive actually means better.

I'm a huge liar.  They are all the same.

Well that was my Elegy, so I think on that car the spoilers were always that way.  Can't be too sure though.

I also realized that this puts another nail in the Adder coffin.  Can't add any spoiler to that bad boy.

It always has helped with downforce, the stats just never reflected it. Some of the cars are just bricks anyway, but the sports and super cars with any of the aero-mods have had noticeable benefit versus not having them, at least on my end anyway. Leave them off if you like, personally I'd never put one on my personal car, but when the goal is handling and speed, it makes no sense not to IMO. It's just a game, who cares what the car looks like as long as it wins.

I think you're right, the prices do look like they've been increased substantially. I don't remember any spoiler costing $16k on any car.

The first part might be true.  I'm not too sure because people in my crew are getting times 3 seconds faster than before this update on our big hot lapping track.

So if I were to get a Feltzer with the extra seating, do I seem less stupid, or do I seem just as equally stupid?

Does this means that top speed also DECREASES too??
Because you know...Too much downforce does that, specially if you have a underpowered car with a massive GT wing
