On my very first heist on my first playthrough I picked the cheapest and lost a chunk of the score so I've picked the most expensive crew ever since and my favorite crew member is that girl hacker can't remember her name always thought she should get with franklin

I've only done one job so far, but I'm always gonna go with the most expensive.

I always picked mixed. Be smart -  cheap hacker, expensive driver, cheap gunman and expensive gun man (it is different from heist to heist)

PS: Congrats on joining bro

My crew on second playthrough:

Gunman: Packie, if more is needed then the cheapest one

Hacker: Second cheapest

Driver: Cheapest, if i need second driver then i choose that chick

Only the last heist is the one that matters so by then all my crew is nicely experienced

Oh I did not know you could pick it up and thanks for welcoming me to the fourm. I just replayed the big one and picked the cheapest crew and we were driving away and the one the drivers crashed and we lost like 15 million.I always pick packie another thing I noticed is if you pick Rickie during the big one the traffic lights mini game will lag but if you pick the girl its lag free. Its interesting stuff

Packie is always one of my shooters

Taliana is always one of my drivers

Both are cheap and the best in their respective roles.

Rickie as my hacker too because he improves with each heist he's used in but his cut remains small.

The cheapest always. Yeah you lose part of a the score that one time, but you lose the money anyways so there`s that. Also at the last heist I have a crew that costs ~5% and performs better than the one that costs 15%

I always went cheap in hopes of building up those charchters stats but they never made it thru the heists. It was quite annoying,so 2nd time thru I just went with the best/most expensive.

Depends on the score. If I need a good gunman I get that, if I need a good hacker and a bad gunman I get that.

I pick mine based on sentimental value. I pick packie and chef for as many as I can, picked the lifeinvader guy for all the hacker things as well.

I like Packie and Chef as my gunmen, Taliana as my main driver, and Rickie as my hacker.

It depends on the heist. I'm going to put most of this in spoilers in case anyone hasn't actually played any of these heists, and I am going to be including some spoilers, so, yeah.

The Jewel Store Job:

Spoiler

The Merryweather Heist doesn't require anyone to be hired, neither does Blitz Play.

The Paleto Score:

Spoiler

The Bureau Raid:

Spoiler

The Big Score:

Spoiler

So, yeah. I always make sure to unlock Packie and Taliana, especially the latter. She's pretty valuable and only takes a 5% cut, but she's on a par with Eddie.

I always pick Packie McReary and Chef as gunmen,Rickie Luckens as a hacker and Taliana Martinez as a driver. When those are unavailable,I go for the most expensive crew members(Gustavo Mota and Eddie Toh).

i always picked the cheapest.

after the assassination missions all my protags still hit the money cap - any money you 'lose' from a score by going with cheaper crew is trivial. you can always put 2 billion dollars into any stock at all on LCN later and make tens of millions of dollars from very small fluctuations in price.

on my second playthrough, i didn't lose any crew at all, even though i always picked the cheapest - so i'm here to say those walkthroughs on the web that say a cheap gunman will always be killed in this mission or that one are bogus, even at Paleto. you just have to be proactive about taking out threats.

it would have been cool if R* had designed the game so that it mattered, but in the end, it doesn't. you're still all billionaires no matter what route you take to get there.

Ok, here's some observations and what I think gets the best return (although I haven't fully confirmed).

After the first heist I picked sort of the same people, knowing that I could already trust them.

Even if you pick up what they drop, you will incur a casualty expense deduction at the end. I haven't noted them all down, but this seems to be bigger than the extra cost of hiring someone more expensive who lives.

I go cheap with the crews because this game really isn;t that hard, so might as well add the challange. I will always use that female getaway driver however, and have yet to find packie :(

I always go for the expensive route, as during my first playthrough I made the mistake of hiring some cheap gunmen and it cost me.

I've always picked the crew who's trustworthy and is in good physical health.

for the jewel store job: I've picked paige as the hacker, packie and gus as gunmen and edie as getaway driver

for the paleto bay heist: I've picked packie

for the bureau raid: I've picked packie and gus

for the big score (subtle approach): I've picked packie, chef for gunmen, taliana and edie for getaway drivers, and paige as the hacker
