I just remembered a theory i used to have which scares me abit, as you know all new games are always online like watch dogs being seamless online, well gta 5 has a stockmarket in singleplayer that works with servers, if they were to allow people to mod their game then this stockmarket could be completely ruined beyond repair.

That gives me a reason to beleive that this game will be locked down and locked down for real compared to gta 4

it is a scary thought and i wish i never had it

But this is absolutely irrelevant how much money you have in SP, isn't it? Only the online counts, so they just need to lock the transaction possibility from SP to Online.

They most likely gonna do it like they did it with IV.

People without mods can only join no-mod lobbys.

People with mods can only join mod lobbys.

If they wont do it like that, they will miss out a HUGE amount of money because like everyone is buying it for mods.

I'm pretty sure that GTA IV was popular on PC because of the mods. If they would lock modding out of GTA V for PC, people wouldn't be happy. :rampage:

Even if they locked it there's a very high change people will eventually unlock, maybe causing the game not to work online. Given the nature of GTAOnline, i'd prefer online was played without mods, so personally i'd be happy to install the game twice and swap the installation folders depending on whether i want to fool around with mods or i want to play GTAO... A free moddeable multiplayer mode would be a very nice touch though.

Or they could just do the easy Valve way.

Consistency check for stuff like huge player models (e.g: Hulk from ac.amir, you will never be able to go Online Mode until you uninstall it).

Couldn't they just make a file which the player can edit to say include mods and limit the stock market to be flushed from memory after loading into GTA Online?

They would never disallow modding in GTA. It is one of the biggest draws to the game for PC players. Mods can improve the game dramatically like ICE Enhancer, ENB, or gameplay mods.

It's never a good idea to try and prevent modding in a game. Mods can help improve people's experience, fix things for developers, or create new games entirely. Given how popular the modding scene for IV was Rockstar would have to be stupid to prevent modding beyond trying to ensure there are some proper sessions of Online.

You most of all should know there's no way to block modding. It's the same as saying "they're gonna block hacking". Someone will always find a way.

Modding will not be blocked on PC.

End of story.

Even if they do block it, it will still be present.

Well ZZTop, time for a little lesson.

Rockstar can force consistency with GTA Online to prevent players from joining if they modified data files/scripthooks. In fact, they could make it to where it loads up vanilla data entries if data files are modified in any way. As for money in SP, Rockstar doesn't give a sh*t about what you do in SP. I've modded my saves tons of times and I'm still doing fine.

Even if Rockstar DOES "block" modding, there will be a work around. There is always a loophole in code that can be manipulated.

I remember gta iv's mods having a lock for multiplayer.

there were readmes with codes that blocked you from using it on competitive online modes.

Why dont all modders agree on doing this again.

There were modders giving out money in Deathmatches, and using customized cars.

People would still play it because some may not have a PS3/360, so they're going to play it on PC.

For online yes it should be minimised but if you are modding your SP game there should be no problem.

Cheers.

Yes,but they can make it harder and that would be really inconvienant. The latest example is MP3 ,people don't bother making mods for that game because it's too much of a hassle

Even if they lock it, there will be someone who will figure out how to unlock it.

obviously it will still work what i mean is blocking it would make things harder and more complicated ofcourse someone will find a way around this but it's still not a good thing if it happens

They don't make mods for it because they don't care. Nobody would ever care to mod a single-player linear campaign game.

I won't be blocked. R* did feature a lot of IV mods on their newswire including your videos. So why would they against it and put even a mod block over it? The GTA modding community is probably the cause of 50 % of R*  "PC version" sales.

So in short: They won't do it. They don't have a reason. The opposite is true: They earn more through it and they have a lot more to show off. :)
