You'll be able to run GTA V but yea, I would update it if you are running it at 1080p.

You mean AMD?

It should, but not on Ultra, because of vRAM, but FPS should be fine. Think about going with another one in crossfire (even if you will still have 1GB vRAM). Just look for prices and get what you think you will be happy with. Or wait for official requirements.

Not trying to be an asshole, but since I don't want to create a topic for the exact same thing again, I'll just post it here. I plan on playing at 900 or 1080p, with a mix of medium-high-ultra.

I have 3 options :

Either get a new card, get a second 7850 for crossfire or stick to my standard upgrade plan (more ram, better cooling for overclocking).

Which one should I choose?

If waiting is not a problem for you, then you should wait until the game is out. Because then you can play around with the menu settings yourself and see if you get satisfying results - if not, then it will be time to upgrade.

Which processor do you have, by the way, and how much RAM?

It doesn't make much sense to purchase another HD7850 for CF, since multi-GPU isn't very effective if you put two mid-end GPUs into your system. A new graphic-card would be the best option in my view. 8GB RAM will be enough for the time being, so there is no need to upgrade that.

For GTA V, I'd suggest a GTX 660 or HD 7850 if you want to play on at least High settings.

Open world games these days are using more and more vram with higher texture resolutions.

Actually having two mid-end GPUs is one of best things to do, but yes you have to wait for Drivers optimization and then there is stuttering, etc. Depends on how much money you want to spend it. Going from 7850 to R9 280X can be expensive.

Really the better option would be to pick up a GTX680-GTX780ti  (4GB models) or an R9 290.

All of those cards are coming down in price, and if you look around, you can get good deals on them. For this game to look as good as possible, it's worth going the extra mile, especially if you intend to downsample from 4K. Personally I've got a 4GB GTX770, so I'm hoping it'll hold its own.

I have a 6870 too. I am waiting for the system requirements and will probably buy a R9 280x.

I'm confident that the 6870 will run GTA V but ofc not on ultra settings anymore, that's what I am aiming for, because when I have V I won't really play other games so I don't need to upgrade my GPU for many years until VI comes out.

Is it worth paying 250$ (GPU + game) or so for one game then? I hope you arent serious and will play some other games, even Solitaire.

Those cards are still $300+

I gave him 2 options that will give him what he wants at half the cost of what you suggested.

I'm basically in the same situation, with an HD6850, Intel quad Q9550 and 8gb of Ram.
1920x1080 screen, playing at max resolution how many fps could I do? Even with mid textures.

How the hell are we supposed to know?

A wild guess though would be that it will be similar to Watch Dogs. Probably less demanding than that.

Guys, i was Going to Order Nvidia Gtx 760 2gb, i know its Decent Card, but there is more option to Go i.e Amd 7870, 3k less price.
but i have a question in mind,
my budget is around 15k in indian Ruppees, and Ati 7870 is about, almost fit in budget, but if spending more 3k for Nvidia Gtx 760, is that worth to buy?
how much difference of Performance,
Ati 7870: 15000 INR
Nvidia Gtx 760: 18000 INR
3000 Difference in money, i can expand my budget but if just for 2 4 fps, should i buy Nvidia 760 or 7870 Still better?

If the engine is that optimized like they did for MP3 you could be able to run it yes.

I will switch to a GTX 770 from GTX 570..

Just my two cents.

I currently have GTX 570, that might not play GTA V on maximum settings? GTX 570 has only 1.2GB VRAM, so I can't even play watch dogs with texture settings above medium

yes, i think you have to upgrade yours card

i recommend start from: gtx700/RX 200 series, "a Mid-to-high" GPUs level, with a minimum of 2GB VRAM at least

or maybe even GTX 800 series or RX 300series

Well, as long as I will be playing one game for the next years ofc. Dont see a problem here. Sure I will play some other games but my main game will be GTA V. I will even pay more because I have to upgrade my CPU as well.

if we estimate from next gen games like Watch Dogs, then 2gb Vram is supposed to Minimum Requirment,
Amd R9 280x, Nvidia gtx 760 - 770 -780 would enough great for Watch Dogs and Gta 5,
but i have doubt on Cores, Some said i5 quadcore is enough but if we again Estimate from Watch dogs, these games required more Cores,
thats why Ubisoft Recommended i7 and AMD Fx 8350, but anyways thats just esitmate,
i5 Sandibridge CPUS are enough to Feel the Juice of New games.
