So I want to get an idea of the PC platform you will be playing on.

We are the master race, err...so it will be a stellar experience on either PC platform but  but which one are you buying it for?

I'm getting for a laptop. Feels like Ill be the only one too as judging from the requirements thread you lot are constructing beasts that not only play V but bend time and breath fire after.

A laptops not as powerful but I don't mind not maxing out settings as long as I can get med/high settings I'll be more than happy.

Both. I'll be using Steam's in-home streaming to stream it to my laptop once in a while to use it like a console hooking it up to my TV. #justmaterracethings

PC all the way, bitch! Laptops are very difficult hardware, you really have to be carefull that sh*t is not burning and you are smelling smoke and sh*t.

I've had exactly this when GTAIV came out. I bought a laptop to play GTAIV on it. It was alright back then and I could play it on medium settings.

But later, it starts burning and the fan made a very loud noise. Now this piece of pile sh*t is laying under my bed waiting to be thrown in the dumpster.

A solid gaming desktop is the way to go. Most conventional laptops have a narrow upgrade path, run hot, and are not built to last. A gaming desktop can be tailored to your requirements, and has greater longevity due to future-proofing, improved airflow etc. Components are easily swapped in the event of hardware failure. Also, gaming laptops are substantially more expensive compared to an equivalent desktop.

Laptop? do you mean Craptop?

^ my 'Laptop'. Sadly my parents won't let me buy a normal PC, so I may buy another GOOD laptop next time. This crappy Dell Craptop can't even handle a 18/17 years old game (DooM II) it overheats on the dumbest thing.

Unfortunately, on a 'decent' laptop, hopefully upgrading soon to glorious desktop.

I have a laptop but it's hardy good enough for gaming. It's an Asus A53S and it has the following specs:

CPU: Intel Core i3 2330M, 2x2.2GHz

RAM: 4GB DDR3-RAM

HDD: 640GB

GPU: nVidia GeForce GT520MX 1GB

I can play IV in 768p with low to middle settings and an acceptable framerate, though it often lags pretty hard. I will, however, use my desktop PC which has far superior hardware. I only need to upgrade my graphic-card, but I will wait until the time comes.

Laptop, had a gaming PC with a outdated 6970 but was willing to upgrade it before GTA V came to the PC world but sadly it kinda got f*cked up 2 months ago.

Bought a gaming laptop which is probably 3x as better now. Specs -

I'm gonna be playing on my PC.

OS: Windows 8
CPU: AMD FX-6100 Six Core Proccessor
RAM: 8.00 GB
HDD: 1 500 GB and 1TB Western Digital
GPU: EVGA SuperClocked GeForce GTX 760 2GB 256-bit

These are my settings. I can play GTA IV with Medium to High Settings and Watch Dogs to Medium Settings. I'm sure I can run GTA V on medium settings.

I hope that my 765m will handle it since it can run Watch Dogs and also both Battlefield 4 and Hardline

I love playing on my laptop, because of the mobility that means I can play anywhere, also in school these days lol,  never had a gaming PC.

Got £1k set aside for a PC once V is out, and people have tested the game. Depending on that I'll decide the specs. Laptops are no good for gaming.

Until then my XP machine has to last.

Going to play on my Desktop of course.

Custom build is the way to go.. Never buy a PC for gaming, the specs are lower and the price is higher than an equivalent custom build. And, custom just kicks ass.

GTA V will have problems with 8, 8.1 will work. Maybe.
Good CPU.
Since when you write 8.00 GB instead 8GB? If anything use 8192MB
1500GB = 1.5TB, it doesn't matter which and how much space you have on HDD, especially in year 2014

I too have a laptop with a 765m. I'm sure our computers will handle it fine. :)

Comptooters? Laptops? I don't know what these are at all. This is what GTA V is required to run:

You can build a desktop for much cheaper and outclass any gaming laptop. Laptops are mainly for the convenience of mobility.

You misunderstand. It reads 1 500GB HDD, and a 1TB HDD.

Just as I have 3 500GB HDDs and 2 1TB HDDs.

Why don't you get a PC from parts? Don't buy a pre-built PC for god's sake please.

No question that a desktop is the better option. If you're buying a new machine, build a desktop instead of buying a pre-built laptop. You get the parts for a good deal cheaper, and it's not hard to build.

You aren't in the Master Race if you run at Peasant Settings :p

Say that to my parents. I have two crappy laptops and I want a desktop but my mother keeps yelling at me, telling me to buy a high-end laptop so I can carry it anywhere.
