Anyone who guesses less than 45GB is delusional.

Edit: Also keep in mind Max Payne 3 on PC was about 35Gb.

Most of that was taken by pre-rendered cutscenes. The actual game i about 16 GB.

GTA V is outdated as hell, I don't see why it would take more than 20 GB, even with Rockstar's horrendous optimization and piles of unused content.

That's f*cking retarded. The console versions are about 50 GB!

Usually the biggest files in a game are assets like sound, textures and video.

Keep in mind that sounds are uncompressed in many games nowadays to avoid extra CPU usage when playing (CPU power is much more precious than drive space, and hearing 1 mp3 of flac song is fine but having dozens of sounds being decoded and playing simultaneously on a game is a different story). As an example take Left 4 Dead 2, about 15gb total, 6,1Gb (40%) are uncompressed wav sounds. I can't measure this in GTAIV because the sounds are packed in containers or other format otherwise i would have taken a look.

Then add the vast amount of textures an open world game like GTAV is going to have and at a rather high resolution too.

I'm not expecting anything less than 1 gb

let's say 2 or 3 gb if it's really well optimized with no textures and no sounds.

Before I though around 20-30 Gb. But since the release of enhanced version on consoles I`d say about the same if not slightly more.

X-Plane 10 is the biggest "game" (it's actually a simulator) I've found. 8 Dual layer DVDs, 86GB COMPRESSED apparently, though steam has it at 80GB.

used this site to estimate how long it'd take me

http://www.numion.co...ators/time.html

idk what overhead is, but I put 40GB and it says 8 hrs (recently moved up to 10mbs), so I hope it's around 40 otherwise I'm pretty much screwed

Thing like this is impossible to predict against all odds...It can be as big as only like 8gb and the same time as big as more than 60gb! It all depends on how the game will be optimized, installed packed etc...There are lots of factors like that that makes it impossible to make precise prediction! The odds point towards the fact that its not going to be more than 30gb in size though, judging by how games are managed nowadays, most of the game barely hit 15gb in total size, while more massive ones barely go over 25 and i know only a very few examples of games, which are that big in size! One of them is Shadow Of Mordor and there are some more, that i can't pick from the top of my head currently! If you see the game, which is more than 30gb in size its not important that its due to the sheer amount of content and game's quality! Big size could simply means poor port and terrible conversion, when packing installers, overloading them with worthless junk, that takes lots of space and so on!...I think the question, that we all should ask is not how big GTAV will be in size on our PCs, but how many of those precious gbs will actually be spent to really make the game better! Because bigger in size don't equals better!

Excuse me if i can't follow your logic, but what does the lack of system requirements for PC version has to do with how much GBs heavy this game is going to be on PC?...

28GB without DLC. 20GB without DLC and cutscenes.

Are you soft in the head??

Are you not aware there are 2 consoles called the Playstation 4 and Xbox One? Are you not aware this very game re-released on these consoles last november? And are you also not aware it has improved assets such as textures and audio? The game will be 50GB, AT LEAST.

even with Rockstar's horrendous optimization and piles of unused content.

GTA4 may not be optimized in terms of the engine, but the game data was very optimized, if you decompress all files you are easily looking at 50GB+ of data. Also, the unused content are always small files, if there was any significant file in terms of size, it would've been removed.

Who's 'they' ? Doesn't sound like something R* would say.

Also, not every texture uses the same texel density, so making every texture 4k is rather silly. For instance, you might have a pavement texture that covers a space of 3m by 3m, On the other hand you might have a building facade which covers 6m by 6m. So one would be 4k and the other 2k.

Also, without doing any calculations, I can tell with most certainty it will be more than 60GB if they were "all" 4k, more like 80-100GB.
