my main pc is a laptop.. an Alienware laptop  though

i7 3920Xtreme 4.4ghz, 16gb ram, 250gb samsung 830 ssd.

two 680m's in Sli, both cards oc'ed to a desktop gtx670

for peripherals - three sets of Logitech z5500 speakers, a 42" philips passive 3dtv. and most importantly, a logitech g602. also planning to buy a oculus dev kit 2 before gtav comes out.

I would guess that GTAV will be very reliant on high speed ram, so I think I'll be upgrading to faster sticks for that matter, not sure yet.

I'll edit this post with pics of my setup, after I clean the room. :D

Win 8.1 x64

I7 920 @3.4

GTX 770 2GB

24 GB Ram

2x 1TB HD + 250 GB SSD

I can run WD on utlra (except for textures) so should be fine for V as well I would think.

OS: Windows 8.1 64-bit
CPU: Intel Core i7 2600k 4.5GHz OC
RAM: Corsair DDR3 1600MHz 8-9-8-20 XMS3/2Gb x 4
SSD: Corsair F60 60Gb
SSD: OCZ Vertex 2 160Gb
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Black 1000Gb
GPU: Gigabyte GTX780 GHz Edition OC

Everything is OK for GTA V but the CPU. I wonder if it's enough.

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Intel Core i5 4670k 4x3.4GHz 6MB L3 Cache
8GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM
1TB Hitachi HDD 32MB Cache
Gigabyte GeForce GTX460 1GB OC 715/1430/1800 @ 850/1700/2000

All I need to upgrade is my GPU. Not sure if I should wait for Maxwell and Pirate Islands or not, as neither of them will release until 2015.

I've been fixing to build a new PC for a while now, but the PC announcement finally pushed me.  Here's what i'll hopefully be going with;

OS: Windows 7 64-bit

CPU: i7 4770k 3.5 GHz (stock clocks to start with)

RAM: 16 GB DDR3

HDD: 2TB HDD. Not entirely decided on what brand, since I'm honestly not too experienced with components outside of GPUs and CPUs.

GPU: GTX 770 4GB

Hope I can max the game at 60 FPS, 1080p.

Gotta get the PC first, though :p

I'm looking to get a new PC soon-ish, I would go with 8.1 if I were you since 7 will be out of date next year.

Near future build:

CPU: i5 4590

RAM: 8GB DDR3

GPU: R9 280x

HDD: 1TB

OS: Windows 8.1 64bit

Here it is:

- AMD Phenom II X6 [email protected] (6 x 3.25 GHz)

- Sapphire AMD Radeon HD7850 2GB GDDR5 RAM
- MSI 770-C45 Mainboard
- 8 GB Kingston DDR3 1333 RAM
- Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit

This runs Watch Dogs with High Details and 1-2 Ultra Settings pretty okay, so i hope V will also run not bad.

Currently on a MacBook Pro at the moment, but this summer I'm building a decent gaming PC, and GTA V has motivated me to do that even more.

Hoping to get an i5/770, so I'd like to play V on high at 1080p/60fps. It better be a good port.

Since HD78xx GPU prices have dropped in my country, I'll probably buy a second card, if GTA V will support Crossfire.

sadly, Win 7 64bit

i3-2120

msi gtx 460 cyclone oc edition

but if port will be good as Max Payne 3 i have no worries at all, because that thing ran High/Medium @60fps no problems at all.

edit: but if i wont be able to get at least Medium @60fps, i will def upgrade.

Everything is OK for GTA V but the CPU. I wonder if it's enough.

The i7 2600k is definitely good enough. The processor should suffice for years to come. An upgrade would be just a waste of money, as there was no major performance increase since Sandy Bridge three years back.

I'm looking to get a new PC soon-ish, I would go with 8.1 if I were you since 7 will be out of date next year.

Define 'out of date'. Windows 7 still works perfectly fine, it's just Microsoft that wants to stop giving support for the Operating System, if I recall correctly. There is no need for Windows 8.1 so long as you don't use a GPU which supports DirectX 11.2. I honestly don't think though that this really warrants a new OS. The visual difference between DX11 and 11.2 won't be that big, I think. Not to forget that there is no game yet that takes advantage of the newest API.

What would you PC guys recommend for console-guy? How much would a PC cost that can run V to start with?

It makes a difference if you have a PC that is capable of running the game, a PC that is capable of running the game on settings that equal the visual quality of the PS4 and/or Xbone, or a PC that is able to run GTAV on settings that are superior to all console releases. Which one are you refering to? If you are aiming for next-gen console quality graphics, then maybe the PS4 would be the better option for you since you already have experience with consoles. Just to clarify: a PC that is able to run demanding games like V on settings higher than the one of the PS4/Xbox One costs more than the consoles do.
