Playing CnC the other day, the Boss was swimming through water for about 5 minutes straight. All of a sudden the cross hair above his head kept flickering (as if he was taking minor damage) and then he died, still in the water.

Definitely there were no snipers or anything. So is it possible to die by swimming constantly without a break?

It's happened to me in IV, Some modders put me and my friend in the middle of the ocean. We were almost at the shore swimming back until we drowned for swimming to long. Either the boss died from swimming to long or they died from leaving the map.

I didn't know about it until July last year. It's rare to die from drowning in this game since most people don't stay in the water too long.

If we swam too far away from the map, it mighta done it.

Both IV and online have warnings if you go too far away in any vehicle before you're killed.

It was near the shore, but thanks.

You do in fact die for being in water for to long. Go to any swimming pool in the game that's deep enough to swim in and just sit there AFK for around 10-15 minutes and your health should start to decrease until you die.

I know you said there were no snipers, but if you snipe someone from far away enough it does just say they died rather than giving you the kill. Never knew you could drown though, but I've never let someone survive in the water that long :)
