IV was one of the best interpretations of NYC in a video game recently and really covered NYC like no other video game could. If I could add anything to the map I would have liked to see the NJ turnpike in Alderney

sopranos-credits-04-1024.jpg

On my trips to NYC and seeing the city rise up is some of the best parts it would've worked well in IV driving from Alderney to LC. Not to mention being able to do this

If you could have added more to the map what would you have liked to see?

Countryside. The game needed some off-roading land for the awesome driving mechanics.

Pretty hard though since there isn't a lot of countryside in NYC unless you add in upstate New York if anything they could have added The Jersey Marshes

They wanted to add upstate New York in but cut the map down to just the city eventually. The map was originally going to have oodles of countryside.

Yup. And the map would have been called "Liberty State" instead of Liberty City. There was also some talk about some smaller islands or something. The Carraways; something like that.

The one landmark I was surprised that didn't make it into the game was Madison Square Garden.

I would really would have loved to see Staten Island. It may just be suburban sprawl, but I was never I big fan of Alderney (which was what pretty much replaced it) and feel that Staten Island would have been a lot more eye appealing.

I'll probably be berated for saying this I would have also liked to see the reconstruction of TWC. That said though I do whole heartedly understand Rockstar's ommission of it out of respect to the people who died in 9/11.

Wasn't the WTC ground zero in IV? The construction site in Castle Gardens looks like the neighborhood where the WTC was.... It shares some similarities with it. Just my theory thoughCastleGardens-GTA4-constructionsite.jpg

Yeah I always thought that area was supposed to be Ground Zero. I'm sure I heard a few references about it concerning the "terrorist attacks" that are talked about in the beginning of the game.

I would have liked to have seen Staten Island, too. Some of the parks there are probably as close as you'll get to countryside while still being in New York City, and that would have made the people who still wanted countryside a little happy I'm sure.

A stadium in Bohan or Dukes for the LC Swingers would have been nice, too, considering it's mentioned as existing and yet it's nowhere to be found in the game.

And hell, I'm sure whatever the original map was for Liberty State would have been amazing. I wonder what that map looks like, and whether or not they probably plan on using it in a future GTA (maybe they want to, which is why they haven't released it anywhere even though it was a scrapped idea and we've seen early beta maps of other GTAs before).

@everyone who says Yusuf's site is ground zero, I'm pretty sure it's supposed to represent the attempt to build two seperate skycrapers at the southern tip of Manhattan (can't remember the name of the project sorry), that was scrapped some time in the 80's or 90's I believe.

* A bit countryside in Alderney, like some surrounding woodlands, forests and hilly areas.

* Surrounding smaller towns outside Alderney City.

* More suburban areas in Alderney, Dukes and Broker.

* A sports stadium, either in Bohan or Alderney.

* Madison Square Garden.

* New York Stock Exchange.

* A bigger-sized Broker and Dukes.

I just think that was a random construction site that they put into the game as the WTC weren't right on the shorline like the construction site was. So I never thought it was the WTC but if R* have said it was then obviously I am wrong.

^ Never noticed that wish we could trade stocks like in V coulda been a good fit with it getting mentioned abit in the story Brian Meech talking about the Trading floor, The guy at the sex shop in broker talking about waiting until the books closing at the end of the financial year before giving Mikhail his money, Roman talking about giving NB some shares if his business goes public. ( I look too much into things xD)

I always knew there was a recreation of it. I just wanted to be able to take part in the actual stocks and shares trading like in V. I don't get how V has it and IV does not.

This isn't something that could have been added but something that could have been improved. I love LC a lot but the Beach in Hove is just so empty compared to the beaches in VC and SA. I can only see two or three peds on the beach itself. I understand this game is supposed to be dark and gritty but a little bit of fun and sunshine wouldn't hurt. Just goes to show that even LC isn't perfect.

The thing is though IV takes place in the fall and in NYC not many people go to the beach in the fall its not sunny all year like in VC and SA. Since LC is based on NYC it makes sense that its not sunny in the fall and that the beach is not the main focus. Another thing is when you think of NYC you don't really think about the beach...

Maybe because Niko is a 'lowlife' criminal and probably an illegal immigrant in US soil. I dont see how the stock market would fit his role. Maybe for Roman, or other chars it would work.
Many of the features that wasnt into the game was to make it fit Niko's lifestyle, like flying planes or owning bussines. He's basically a gun for hire thug, and everything seems to fit this role.. what doesnt, wasnt featured into the game. My point of view..

@daliakiller Niko could have faked his documents in order to sell stocks just like in that mission Final interview if he gets caught though thats another story. The stock system could have worked well in TBOGT if Tony gave Luis some money to play with...

The caraways (upstate LC) , Staten Island and the Yankee stadium in bohan ..

Upstate LC would have been nice as well as Staten Island going there late at night with a body in the trunk...

Yankee stadium or in this case the LC Swingers stadium would be nice as well bohan doesn't feel right without a field for an area based off The Bronx it feels incomplete I mean there is a field in the game in bohan and also one in Dukes but they are small and feel incomplete. I remember reading something in the game about the swingers complaining about their stadium.

What would that actually be if it wasn't cut? Casino extension? Salvatore's house before it was possibly moved?

This seems a nice place for a prision, or maybe a lighthouse. That is quite a big peninsula, could work as an illegal airport too.

- Bohan as a whole
- Expansion of North Holland
- more of Alderney. Seems a tiny bit too cramped. (coming from someone who is a native of Jersey, I think it's a tad bit close, but eh, what can ya do?..)
