Is there anyone who didn't want Las Vegas in the 1970s or 1980s?  It seems like the best and obvious location for the next Mafia game.  I'm sad it will probably never happen now.

I'm really not keen on Las Vegas as a city, it's pretty much one street with fancy lights and fake landmarks, lots of casinos etc. Every movie, image or game focuses on the strip or surrounding area. After that i imagine the whole city being pretty underwhelming medium density office blocks with boring suburbs stretching for miles. Just doesn't catch your eye or hold your interest like a built up city does, imo.

EDIT: Don't get me wrong, I'm all for including suburbs in a game, most games don't make suburban areas big enough so the whole city looks unrealistically proportioned but Las Vegas suburbs i reckon would bore me within 10 minutes.

I just finished this game and I kinda liked it. The post credits scene took me by surprise haha. Now I want a standalone game with Donovan as the lead. Like, in Vietnam where you get to dismember that Vietnamese lady and other OPs and back on American soil going after the conspirators of the JFK assassination.

I mean, let's be honest here, Hangar 13 seems like a friendly and dedicated company BUT they were never fit to develop a Mafia game.

Yes, they nailed the soundtrack and setting, but the stellar graphics that each release had, the realistic and niche gameplay and the actual Scorsese type mafiosi storyline that the Czechs did. Hangar 13 was never made for that.

They can make very atmospheric games with involving stories, but not on the level of the Mafia series. I am glad that the Mafia IP is on hold. The entire time I felt like I was playing The Godfather II Dark Gang Edition, both games sucking in a way.

Expect to see a new Mafia game within the next decade or so...

You actually nailed it aside from the strip Vegas looks just like any other American City

Mafia III did not feel like a Mafia game, it felt like a poor mans GTA with a SJW story which was highly predictable, the story itself was very overrated, even though the Dialouge & cutscenes were of a very high quality.

If Hanger 13 are the ones to make a new Mafia I hope they get off their soapbox and produce an actual Mafia narrative.

The driving physics & 60s atmosphere/soundtrack were both very well done & by far the best parts of the game.

Social Justice Warrior, a term used in this context to describe something that apparently caters to those with social sensitivities, so Lincoln being a black mob boss, the Haitian gang being run by the female Cassandra, the antagonists being outwardly racist.  Personally I couldn't give a sh*t about the developers political agenda, I found the characters to be interesting and along with the in game journals and the target list, they became well rounded adversaries rather than villains of the week.  If it was so SJW'd to the nines, I'm pretty sure we wouldn't be able to turn on our allies as that would constitute "vilifying African Americans as traitors" or some other such bullsh*t.  Not everything that includes a cast of varied cast is SJW, otherwise The Wire would be the ultimate in pandering to SJW sensitivities.

Not for one second have I thought they're trying to push some social agenda.

I can see how people would think it is as some of the smaller parts of the game are very relative to now; for example how the police react to Lincoln's crime differently depending on how affluent the area is.  But I wouldn't say it was done to reflect America today, it was done a reflection of the racism during that time period, the fact that it still happens now to such a degree that movements like Black Lives Matter exist, well that is a reflection of our own society, not what video game developers are telling us to think.
