  • The RPG elements while cool at first, eventually they become annoying, and waste a lot of time. Missions like Amphibious Assault, and Flying School missions provide more hindrance, than improve the experience. This is GTA, not Elder Scrolls.

I'm really not a fan of RPG elments/skill building at all which is why I tend to avoid those type of games. I didn't like them in San Andreas because as you said they were more of a hindrance than anything. So glad GTA IV didn't bother with this crap.

  • I prefer a more grunge-y and abandoned setting than a tropical coast city full of neon, that's why Liberty City is my favorite city in the series, and I'd prefer a game in Carcer than Vice City for that reason.
  • I think "normal" cars are more fun to drive than Sports and Super cars.
  • I really hate helicopters in all games, probably because I suck at all of them.
  • Free-aim drive-by was the best feature that was introduced in the HD universe, a really close second is Ragdoll/Euphoria.

@RPG elements:

I'd enjoy "actual" RPG elements like choice & consequences, not just skills. Changing the outcome of the game in a realistic/meaningful way... gta IVs approach was ok, but

IV is waaaay overrated at least in this forum and V gets too much sh*t, almost everyone who crititizes it doesn't even give the slightest credit like the isn't even one good thing about it.

I wish Cockstar would stop with their stupid forced Online updates and patches! Every time I try to play GTA V SP on PC, a stupid download gets in the way and it's all for that sh*tty Online.

Even if I say no to the Patch, it still says installation failed. FY C*!

Trevor is a joke compared to Eddie Low.

Yeah, at least with Eddie it's confirmed that he'd sleep with a dead guy if he's really hot, with Trevor it's only implied.

This really isn't an unpopular opinion. It's more like an inferiority complex because GTA IV's finally getting the credit it deserves and GTA V's taking all the heat GTA IV used to.

Here's mine

  • Catalina is the most overrated antagonist (if not character period) of the whole GTA series
  • Vice City Stories had a much better storyline than San Andreas
  • CJ is my least favorite protagonist of the whole GTA series
  • Big Smoke's betrayal was way too predictable. I made a topic on that and the clues were thrown right at my face
  • Vice City had the worst radio station of the whole GTA series
  • Liberty City Stories is underrated
  • GTA 4 storyline (while being good still) is overrated

Bonus: Unpopular Fact

Believe it or not, Tommy and Trevor are the most intelligent protagonists of the series.

Right, I thought my PC version broke because it wouldn't start, then I realized it was because of the dumbass update.

Though I don't think this is an unpopular opinion. :p

Edit: For my unpopular opinions:

VBR is the best station in GTA V, and Channel X isn't that bad, even though I'm not into punk, I've grown a new appreciation for the station with the CG/PC versions.

(lacks any emotional understanding) Eddie will have sex with anything and everything, don't touch him like that Eddie, stop it Eddie, Stop it!

Also I enjoyed GTA The Ballad of gay tony, loved the interaction with other characters and found the missions to be great.
Unpopular opinion, I liked Luis Lopes, if I was surrounded by a load of delusional, fake and stupid people while dealing with my Bosses money problems, id be a little like Luis, acting dull because I'm tired of hearing all the bullsh*t 24/7.

I enjoyed Sinowav FM from GTA CTW more than most of the radio from IV.

I know it's not that long, but I feel Grand Theft Auto V is... nostalgic to me.

Summer 2013 was the happiest time of my life. I was finally out of secondary school forever, I felt home free, and I even went on vacation to a small town in France. Since Grand Theft Auto V is set around that time period, I feel as if that game is an endless escape from all the trouble I had to suffer to this day throughout Sixth Form College. Even though I didn't even own the game at that time, it still gives me a Summer 2013 feeling...

I feel as if that game could be better with a few other songs regularly played on American radio at that time, even though some of them (Like Applause) made the cut. For that, it'll be complete just like the Endless Summer from Bully.

I like the Premier. The Infernus is actually a good car. The Futo is one of the best looking cars in the game. The Elegy Retro Custom was definately less IRL based in terms of engine because it doesn't sound anything like an RB26DETT although it sounds like a built one when its idling. The Elegy Retro needs more Spoiler Options such as a Coloured GT wing like in 2Fast 2Furious where is is blue. There needs to be more JDM cars in the game. There needs to a manual transmission. GTA V is my second favourite game after Vice City. Some cars actually sounded good e.g. Issi, Tailgater, Schafter, FQ2, Grisly etc.

I dislike flying fighter jets of any kind in these games. They're cool, but overpowered. I'd much rather shoot enemies on the ground, jumping from cover to cover, rather than bomb them and kill them all with one push of a button. Besides, there's never an actual mission involving them in GTA V. At least San Andreas had a mission or two with the Hydra.

It's just made infinitely more worse with online, because the people who want to preserve their K/D and the cowards who don't want to go anywhere near their enemy take to the skies and "fight" you with them.

Ill give V credit for surpassing IVs online features but as someone who completed both main stories I prefer the IV universe in every way. The characters, the plots just everything. V's story had it's moments though.

- SA Infernus was ugly.

- Supply Lines is a fun mission.

- GTA V had a good story.

- Radio Los Santos is the best radio station in GTA History (the SA version).

- Hip Hop Classics (V) isn't as good as RLS (SA).

- Toni Cipriani was a great protagonist from what I know.

- Johnny Klebitz deserved death, I always disliked him.

- Vice City had an average storyline.

- GTA SA was the hardest GTA.

- GTA III had the best Stinger car.

- Molly Schultz was hot.

Maybe I've already mentioned this (can't remember), but I don't see the point playing ANY GTA game after the story's finished. To me once those credits roll it's either off to playing a different game or starting a new save to start from the beginning.

It's like hanging around after a movie's finished looking for extra scenes to be played. Doesn't appeal to me at all.

If that excludes a 100% completion run then I completely agree with you.

  • I don't want to see Vice City in the next GTA.
  • I don't want to have another over-the-top GTA video game. If Rockstar will do it, I will lose respect for them.
  • CJ is the worst protagonist in the 3D universe.
  • San Andreas map feels larger than the V one.
  • Final GTA III > Beta GTA III

Good list of opinions but CJ is the best protagonist, he has done more than any other protagonist has done. Plus customizing him has always felt fun.

@bananaking13, do you know what having your own opinion means? I'm sorry if I don't shard your statement on CJ.
