If people spent half of the time moaning and invested in suggesting how the game could be better, it would be the end of the world.

That particular area is suppose to be like that the redneck sh*thole where Trevor lives.

Yeah, but does it have to be all across the alamo sea?

Exactly my thoughts OP!

All I ever wanted was that RDR feeling of being alone, far away from home...

Heck, even SA got this right.

wtf...some of you are some whinny mofos, do you enjoy the game? did you not make an account for a forum pretty much solely based on the game? so you guys are telling me theres no open spaces in gta 5? do you guys even explore? the motorways? the open roads in the greenlands theres all around the map and near devin westons house? theres mountains, small islands and all sorts, ive felt alone alone many times online with a full lobby....damn! this is the best game ever, you dont agree play something else

True Although there are prettier looking places like the dam, paleto bay, and the drive out to the country side.

Uugh. RDR was too desolate and empty. Worked for a Wild West game but only that.

Who said we were whining?  SA just felt more desolate and GTA 5 feels like a cheap rip off of las vegas.  The only true countryside areas are on the east coast, and everything above the Alamo sea.  Everything below is too cramped to be country.

The desert was originally bigger but it had to be condensed for our out-dated consoles.

how do you know this?

its called Beta version of the game. every Beta GTA (except for VC) had a bigger map design at one point

Yeah I agree, the countryside in San Andreas felt like a countryside should:

-Removed from the city with a completley different vibe/atmosphere

-Peaceful, yet eerily quiet - why is it so quiet?

-Tons and tons of open greenland and farmland representing a typical countryside economy

It was almost like playing a completley different game when you ventured into the countryside, the same cannot be said of HD San Andreas however, where it feels like I've wondered off and stumbled into a sandbox park.

if you went further north into the far side of the map. You might get the feeling your looking for. although its pine trees and mountains.

they barely added anything up there.

go wander through the woods

In SA the map seemed vast, but it was all just jammed together.  You had LA, San Fran and Vegas?  C'mon.

I hope we get a Vegas map.

I don't know. Driving through this desert does take a little bit of time. I haven't played SA in a while so I don't remember if it's bigger or not.

Paleto Forest could be a lot bigger, maybe even thicker with more trees.

I like that area and the one by the light house since there's lots of pine trees. Everything else feels meh. On most parts, you never feel lost since there's civilization a few feet away. The big mountains feel like empty fillers, they could have at least shaped them more like rocky cliffs with caves and such...

Here's a preview of how GTA San Andreas got it right, click the spoiler to remember GTA SA's vast wilderness:

I think the entire coast line from the northside all the way down the east coast + the more inland grape seed area is good in that regard. It's pretty empty, but there's also some nice hidden spots or locales to chill out at. Coves, the light house you mentioned, a few old houses off the coast on islands etc etc

Oh boy, I love it when people equate low draw distance and relatively low-populated,  lifeless scenery as vast wilderness.

this place... memories

too bad gta v never had any good stunt ramp locations, i remember playing the game at first thinking there'd be a sweet jump at the end of this straight away... nope just a building or a guard rail. liberty city had a good sense of ramp placement and nice shortcuts. that map had flow to it. LS doesn't

I dunno what you all are talkin' about, driving to and from the country when you're in the city is a chore. And there are still areas of the map I haven't even bothered with yet so I still have a bit more to see. But I think it's big enough, I mean, there's the city, mountains, beaches, islands, the desert and then there's even a swampy area as well. You all are just some greedy lil sh!ts lol like what would you even do with more sand? Seems like you all want a bigger map for the sake of having a bigger map.

i don't want a bigger map, i want a more in-depth world.

pros :

we have yoga

tennis

golf

ls customs

owning apartments

10 cars

insurance

basic things

cons:

the airport terminals/buildings/hangars are pointless when there's nothing in them or there not enterable.

the big ass stadium is there only for looks. could've put demo derby, sports, monster truck, dirt bike races, skate park event, all kinds of sh*t

the casino had potential but it's empty, the horse track is there for nothing but a dirt track.

all these detailed housed in mirror park, beverly hills, and vinewood hills, we cannot own or see interiors.

sealife is pointless with no underwater caves or creatures.

boats are pointless since we can't go fishing or go to some different island.

paleto bay has nothing interesting besides a few shops that you could find in the city.

you cannot go to clubs or dance parlors, but there are so many around the world.

all these crazy looking parking garages are closed off. so much for an excellent tokyo drift easter egg.

mount chilliad has nothing interesting, a mineshaft or a cave system wouldve been interesting.

all these rare rusted out junk cars couldve been a cool "barn find" type deal to make into a drivable car

fort zancudo could've been cool with an underground lair or secret vehicles to obtain, not just the jet.

all these hospitals and police stations are non-enterable

the pier wouldve been cool to do many activities

People can't make up their minds. I remember when people used to complain that San Andreas' map was too sparse. Those suggesting that they wish GTA V's map were more sparse should simply try walking around for a while - you'll soon learn how much of a pain in the ass it is to be anywhere not near a car or vehicle of some sort. It takes a LOT longer to travel by foot than you realize, and just because you can see what's in the distance from ANY distance in GTA V, does not mean that it's any closer.

The only reason you felt so desolate in San Andreas, so alone, was because you couldn't see what was like 100 yards away - so far all you knew, it didn't exist.

It's like boarding up all of your windows. Unable to see outside, you could be ANYWHERE on the planet, even in the middle of the desert... but take the boards off and suddenly you can see your neighbors screwed only 50ft away from your window.

Oh boy, I love it when people don't understand what I'm talking about and give me information I already know.
