The motherboard and the CPU are incompatible. I'd suggest changing the CPU to an i5.
Is the bluray writer a necessity? They're still quite a bit expensive, if I were you I'd just stick with DVD writer and get a faster GPU instead.
Please post the brand, model and wattage of the PSU you want to salvage. If it turns out to be an outdated unit (or a unit from brand with poor reputation), then it'd be highly advisable to get a new PSU. Having a proper PSU is crucial.
On a side note, are you planning to overclock the CPU?
Sorry for the noob question, but how are the CPU and motherboard incompatible? Must I use an ASUS with the AMD CPU?
The Bluray drive isn't necessary, just thought it would be nice to have a blue ray player. Although I have a PS3 and a Blu ray player so yea... kind of pointless to get another lol.
I've actually looked inside both old machines since posting and both are sh*tty. So yeah, looks like I'll just be buying all new parts. I didn't even bother to look for a wireless card in either one because they're so old.
I'm not sure if I'll overclock the CPU or not.
